Has anyone noticed that Vertical 2 recently has been giving the wrong elevation gain when uploading the GPX file and during the activity via Climb Guidance but post hike everything is perfect? I haven’t noticed this prior to 2.56.18 update. It seems like a big thing to miss when I typically do over 800m most hikes, so i doubt it happened prior to the update. I had an update early July on my watch and 2 decent hikes i had uploaded to my watch with 1000m elevation gain for a trail which only has 800m elevation gain for 2 identical trail stats for 2 trails and even during the trail it showed in the climbing guidance tile that is was supposed to go 200m-400m higher than the trail was, then i looked at the elevation i was at and needed to get to and it showed the proper alitutde i was at and the top of the climb altitude. I had to tell my wife that i had to approximately 200m from the climbing guidance so i couldn’t give her an exact number when she asked how much climb is left TDLR: - Pre-hike: App/watch elevation gain is wrong via GPX file - During the hike: climb guidance is wrong, current/peak elevation tile using altimetre/barometre is right - Post-hike: all tracking is spot on even with strava gps corrections. Sadly i didn’t think about taking pictures during the hike because i wasn’t going to make a post about it but just decided i wanted to make a post about it. Try this for yourselves if you have Alltrails pro/peak (these are the most popular trails in both areas and would have been vetted by Alltrails staff) https://www.alltrails.com/trail/peru/ancash/sendero-laguna-69 elevation gain is 830m but the suunto app says it’s 1049m https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/washington/yellow-aster-butte-trail elevation gain is 861m and on the suunto app it says 1261m. (oddly enough it went to about 1000m on my watch) By the way, i’ve used over 500 alltrails gpx files prior and never have seen this before. I know for a fact it’s not on Alltrail’s side. Plus minus 100m is fine but 200m+ is a little excessive when you clearly look at the map and it’s just an up and down trail with no dips. Can you guys pay attention to this for your upcoming hikes when uploading GPX files? It doesn’t happen every time post update because https://www.alltrails.com/trail/peru/ancash/pico-mateo--2 was spot on pre-during-post.

@Egika The strange reaction from suunto support I get from multiple bug reports. As if they have no interest in “older” devices.

@duffman19 I don’t know, because the difference between 7 and 8 days of battery life isn’t really noticeable, at least not for me. If it went down compared to when it was new, it’s definitely nothing drastic.

@laurent.claustre well yes, updated the app yesterday and immediately synced a route i had in library - which i know was not working previously. Now, i didn’t hike it to confirm, but preview (from navigation) shows it is fine now, as opposed to how it was before. I encourage you to update the app and try.

I know that HR measurement at the wrist can be difficult and it is better to use a chest strap. However, even for normal walking (not even Nordic walking) I get horribly wrong measurements, e.g. yesterday the watch showed a maximum of 139 bpm in the afternoon, but an 24h-ECG (which should be 100% accurate) shows a maximum of 106 bpm in the morning (it is hard to search for the same time span). Anyhow, the difference is not acceptable! Yes the watch has correct settings (left arm) and is correctly attached to the wrist. What can I do? I need to track my pulse.

Good day, I have a Suunto Spartan Ultra and have had it for 8 years. From my last Samsung UI update my watch has not synced my daily steps with the Suunto app. I have tried the following but not success: Restart phone and watch. Reinstall Suunto App Force stop Suunto App Unpair watch from phones Bluetooth and reconnect. Gave all items on Suunto App permission. Made sure Suunto APP and phone is not on energy saving mode. If anyone has a solution please assist. Kind regards

As someone passionated by old technology and seeing some of it getting revived/having new apps specially with the help of LLMs I tough myself if it could be doable to write a small program to upload a gpx to an ambit on android (either via bluetooth or usb otg)? Why? 1 - As we know, with the closing of movescount to suunto app, we “lost” the ability to sync routes wirelessly to the ambit (on movescount you could open movescount on your android browser, upload road, and sync it with movescont android app and normally you would have the route on your ambit). 2 - suunto tested gpx sync to ambit via suunto app with bluetooth but it was unstable. 3 - we only can upload routes to ambit having a windows or mac computer around and we still need android or ios device to upload the route to suunto app What was done in the past that may help? https://github.com/openambitproject/openambit https://github.com/starryalley/AmbitSynchttps://github.com/starryalley/AmbitSync https://github.com/guiguoz/opensportsync https://github.com/centic9/gpx2route On my side I have zero knowledge on coding, but I have some free time and for the sake of fun and revival of ambit keen on spending some euros on LLM credits. Of course, I expect zero time from suunto, but if anyone has tips on how to start I will be keen on it. Feel free also to tell me why you think or know why this won’t work. PS: for sure the dream would be that instead of this we could integrate this work into suunto app, but I highly doubt it is possible for obvious reasons. Edit: already found that the ambit 3 driver is lacking this function https://github.com/openambitproject/openambit/issues/286 @sebchastang I recall you messing around with the ambit 3, maybe do you have any info? @margusl you too @dimitrios-kanellopoulos @pavel.samokha is there anyone that can have info that can be shared for this missing communication protocol?

I haven’t used my D5 since January; I got it out of the cupboard today to charge it as it’s dead, but I can’t remember how to attach the charger. I’ve searched the manual but it just says ‘attach’, it doesn’t explain how. There’s a red thing on the end of the cable which I seem to recall ‘snaps’ onto the watch, but right now it’s not snapping onto anything - it doesn’t stick to the back of the watch like I seem to remember. Have I got this totally wrong? Please can someone explain in simple terms how to attach the charger?! Thanks

@Lazar-Dimitrov there has been a test implementation some years ago for this. But it has been abandoned. Suunto has a product management, that is prioritizing all possible features. The developers just do, what is high on the list. It seems, that this one is lower priority than other features. Anyway, I wanted to say that it does not make sense to talk to the developers directly. You want to convince product management

This will disable and reenable Bluetooth in the watch and forces it to reconnect with sensors. I do it with Inpeak wattmeter. Wow, thanks @jan-krejčí, will try it next time, though heads up on this Suunto-related people, should be addressed for sure.

@tobstar since last firmware, you now have the option to disable activity notifications, look for this in the options menu before starting the activity, as they cannot be modified after activity has started.

@Highlands said in Suunto Vertical 1 – A Few Questions About the Future + Questions About the Vertical 2 and a Comparison with the Coros Nomad / the New Vertix 2026: @dreamer_ I hope they put a sapphire crystal on R2S. About this, I think my wife’s 46mm Run could fit a 1.4 inches screen. Perhaps they could fit that screen aize in the Race 2 S playing with the bezels and making you think the watch is not that “S” but something comparable to a Fenix 8 47mm . That simple change would make a lot of noise for marketing in my opinion and very likely much better sales (just for that)

@Brad_Olwin Really? Very interesting as XC Skiing is my other Usecase for the Vertical. Sun and Snow together are so bright that the MIP really shines. Also the Solar power collection is welcome. For running I really like the Race S as it is much lighter and the OHR works perfectly since the last update. Waiting for an Ocean 2 Titanium in the Race 2 case. If the new display is that much better it would serve all my demands. But as long as RaceS (discounted), Vertical Titanium (used) and Mares Divecomp together cost less than the Ocean I will stick with this trio

@isazi Hi, I want to add my point of view. I have Suunto Race and I was testing the connection today, since a big race is coming. Until now, I was not using the HR sensor for races, but now I was curious. My HR strap is unfortunately not waterproof enough to wear during the swim. Therefore, I tested, if I can connect it after the swimming part. Once I ended the swim in Triathlon sport mode, I turned on the HR strap. The watch beeped and the strap seemed connected. But, when watching the HR, once I removed it from the wrist, HR vanished. This means, even if the sensor is apparently connected, it still shows the HR data from the watch optical sensor. That’s what I am asking: Is it possible to somehow change the settings to show the HR from the strap rather than watch? Thanks!!

@Beardkowski said in Suunto only a brand for runners?: Suunto only advertises with and for runners. What about mountain bikers and road cyclists? A bit more advertising for cycling would be nice, too. Or is Suunto solely a brand for runners? Many cyclists use a bike computer like a Wahoo ELMENT or Garmin Edge and Suunto doesn’t make any of those, but do have a partnership with Hammerhead Karoo. https://us.suunto.com/blogs/blog/how-to-use-karoo-2-bike-computer-with-suunto https://www.hammerhead.io/blogs/teamjournal/see-the-adventure-ahead-with-suunto While one can connect a cycling power meter to a Suunto watch and get the data that way, it’s likely not perceived as quite as good as a bike computer option.

@VoiGAS said in HRM 2?: They could just rebrand one of the newer Movesense models and gain features like ECG, temperature and movement. One of the models has the name HR2… It does, but it has a different chip set. I think this is a net-new product.

@Petr-Manek Suunto’s company policy is not a democracy. Voting for ideas gives the product managers hints. But there are also other sources to make a BC out of the various ideas. This means: voting is never pointless, but also no guarantee for implementation there is almost never a “will not be implemented”. Just Suunto does not share their road map.
