@JackFluck and so you are on 2.40.44? Can you share a screenshot of what you see in the app? Also, rebooting phone and watch first could be an option.

@Stefano-M64 That mobile phone hotspot technique didn’t work when I tried at the time by the way. Shame I didn’t try the coffee shop WiFi before I did the factory reset and then I’d know for sure!

@magbueno With the same problem I contacted Suunto support and get answer: the steps on how to get the accurate Vo2Max level below: Pair the watch again with the Suunto app Please try a new activity for 15-20 min exercise or more if possible, walking or running will be fine. 3)Set the watch to perfect GPS and perfect HR tracking. No gaps allowed. minimum 8 minutes of zone 3 or 2 HR. Most of the time the VO2max is shown in the first activity from the above steps mentioned but I will suggest you to try 2 to 3 exercises, if the VO2max is not shown in the first activity. I follow the instructions and after light run in HR zones 2 and 3 VO2max changed. After that all activities (MTB, trailrunning, hiking, nordic walking,…) do not influence in VO2max changing. It stays on the same level. It looks that it is not bug, it is a feature.

@maszop That’s not what I meant. If you look at the HR before the 40 minute mark you see an average of 100-something. After the 40 minute mark 80-something. One of them is incorrect. Especially the sudden drop shortly before the 40 minute mark is not possible. I have done an experiment a while ago with an Epix Pro, using an Coros HRM and the Race S, waking a walk. Neither of the watches was spot on. Have to look it up. But I guess I should start a new topic for this…

I had exactly the same experience with my 7. It had one new screen under warranty but was out of warranty by the time it burnt the second time. When it refused to stay connected to my phone I called it a day and bought a Race which is fantastic, and twice the watch the 7 ever was. I think it was a misguided product from Suunto, but everyone makes mistakes and knowing what I know now I should never have bought it. Everyone makes mistakes though, and more than happy to buy another one.

Merci ! Björn

Hi all! My Android mobile phone can connect and be paired with my Suunto 5, but it keeps on pairing once both devices are connected. Obviously, no performance data is automatically synced. The app and softwares are updated. What might be the problem? Thanks!

Interesting take! A lightweight Suunto with Stryd support would be a game-changer for runners. I doubt they’ll add it, but if they did, I’d consider it too. The T6c was legendary—2000 miles is impressive!

@Francesco-Pagano Yes, I bought SensoRun Sensors, but they are not very easy to use. Only works with native app and the values are somehow strange. No GCT Balance there, but at least I could compare stride length left and right. That helped me monitoring my improvements, stride length is nearly equal now. But what my right leg is missing is the stiffness / bouncing capability. I had hopes to monitor this difference with the Ground Contact Time measurement

@Mff73 Also, considering that battery duration has considerably been enhanced with last generation of watches (S9pp < SR < SV), the number of charge cycles his more than divided by 2 compared to previous generations.

@inkognito That was it. Thanks! I removed all POI-s and than uploaded just two and they both appeared on the watch map. Good to know to keep an eye on this until Suunto resolves it. But if this bug is still here from s9 era, that is not promising

I find this time field as an extra. I don’t care if it’s small - I know it’s there if I need it, and I rarely need it to be as readable as any other data field. If I’m going to need to know time often - like actual time, or sunset, etc. I always create a personalized sports mode where the important fields are large enough.

@Jonathan-C really interesting seeing how you’re teaching the software about the world. Looking forward to part 2, where I’m curious to find out if you have to pre-plan the number of laps and incorporate that into your route. Spoilers!

@Egika That’s why I surmised in my initial post that DCR must’ve had a foundation with it via his experience with Garmin. Unfortunately, Suunto didn’t detail how this feature works, and I couldn’t find a calibration explaination in the user manual (perhaps I missed it?). I haven’t used a Garmin regualrly in about four years, and even when I was with that brand, I never ran on a track. So as I test it further, I want to be sure to explain any functionalities that don’t seem intuitive to the end users.

@ChrisA you and Brad make great points and I agree with you. I particularly follow Scott Johnston’s work with Uphill athlete (and now Evolv). SJ wasn’t absolutely against HRV btw, but that current methods of measuring them aren’t reliable (as we have experienced as well). That said, I believe the main idea of the original question is whether this measurement is inconsistent when swapping watches. They probably somewhat are if there are differences in watch sensors. I mean, we can get different results on the same watch just by switching arms.

@bobson also agree about the lag. Not sure what people expect or what they think is important. Much ado about nothing. IMO. I’d gladly accept miniscule lag if the battery lasts longer, and that is one of the tradeoffs.
