@pbanon said: @raven said: Except that with my proposal, everyone has the option to do things “both ways,” so I can record sessions before and after lunch and see them as either two events or a single event. Your proposal means we only get one event unless there’s a reverse idea from what I propose, to “split” a session into multiple views, which seems more complex. And as I note earlier, I’d be concerned an extended paused event in abeyance would be prone to data loss, especially if doing other things on the watch. Asking for a week long “single event session” to be continually alternating between running then paused seems like asking for trouble. Adding resume later feature also let’s everyone do it both ways. If you don’t want to pause and resume later, then you can choose not to and start a new activity the way you do today. But I want to see the Trail Running session I did one day and the Hiking session I did on another day both as separate sessions (for individual performance metrics) and as a combined session (to see the overall map of my vacation adventures). Resume later would force me to keep the session in abeyance for an entire day, and would force me to choose one of the two modalities but not the other although would give me the single map. And again, my proposed “view two as one” idea would be an app update ability that gives the feature to all Suunto users, while changing how recording works on the watch requires a firmware update for each individual watch, and this presumes the feature was within the hardware and OS capabilities of the watch. Otherwise it is only for new watches designed with that feature in mind.

@Kaiphi at least off and back on track in navigation notification could be fixed. but it’s minor. I also sail on the fine without any further updates boat. I know what’s possible from V2 but can comfortably say that V1 is good as it is.

@Steven-Limmer Hello. I have had a ride yesterday and checked my data as I also had a stop. I stopped for a bit more than 15 minutes, exactly 11 minutes with no power output was recorded. I’m not sure if my Assioma Duo Pro RS did fall asleep, but when I continued, power data and cadence were there immediately. I will monitor this on my next rides (Watch is Vertical 2, latest FW) I have checked the Favero App settings for the PW: standby is set to 5 minutes right now and max. standby time would be 720 minutes with a lot of options in between. Maybe worth a try?

Same here with the 9PP after the last firmware update. Since then it happens regularly and as it isn’t reliable anymore I stopped using it regularly. Anyone tried to go back to another earlier FW?

@Ze-Stuart Thanks for the comments, nice to hear that there are other people interested in the topic. In my case I’m using the Suunto Run, which does not have the SuuntoPlus store, so I don’t have any experience of using the Stryd SuuntoPlus app. From what I understood, the Stryd app from SuuntoPlus can be used to display some of the Stryd metrics live during the run, but does not affect the workouts in the Suunto app. Instead of a SuuntoPlus app, what I would like to see would be a better built-in integration of the food pod data to the Suunto watches, since currently the watches only support a few of the available metrics that Stryd pod is able to provide.

@laurent.claustre well yes, updated the app yesterday and immediately synced a route i had in library - which i know was not working previously. Now, i didn’t hike it to confirm, but preview (from navigation) shows it is fine now, as opposed to how it was before. I encourage you to update the app and try.

I know that HR measurement at the wrist can be difficult and it is better to use a chest strap. However, even for normal walking (not even Nordic walking) I get horribly wrong measurements, e.g. yesterday the watch showed a maximum of 139 bpm in the afternoon, but an 24h-ECG (which should be 100% accurate) shows a maximum of 106 bpm in the morning (it is hard to search for the same time span). Anyhow, the difference is not acceptable! Yes the watch has correct settings (left arm) and is correctly attached to the wrist. What can I do? I need to track my pulse.

Good day, I have a Suunto Spartan Ultra and have had it for 8 years. From my last Samsung UI update my watch has not synced my daily steps with the Suunto app. I have tried the following but not success: Restart phone and watch. Reinstall Suunto App Force stop Suunto App Unpair watch from phones Bluetooth and reconnect. Gave all items on Suunto App permission. Made sure Suunto APP and phone is not on energy saving mode. If anyone has a solution please assist. Kind regards

Hello everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me. I own a Suunto Ambit Peak and my account dates back to the Movescount era. For years everything worked fine with SuuntoLink, but now I’m being forced to change my password before I can log in. The problem is that I cannot even start the password reset process. When I click “Reset password”, I immediately get the following error message: “An error occurred while resetting your password. Please try again later.” No reset email is ever sent. Here is what I’ve already tried: Safari and Google Chrome Private browsing mode Different computers Waiting several days before trying again The result is always exactly the same. Because of this, I cannot log into SuuntoLink and I cannot synchronize GPX routes to my Ambit Peak. Has anyone experienced this with an old Movescount account? Is there a way to have the account repaired or to contact someone at Suunto who can actually investigate the issue? Thank you very much for any advice.

I haven’t used my D5 since January; I got it out of the cupboard today to charge it as it’s dead, but I can’t remember how to attach the charger. I’ve searched the manual but it just says ‘attach’, it doesn’t explain how. There’s a red thing on the end of the cable which I seem to recall ‘snaps’ onto the watch, but right now it’s not snapping onto anything - it doesn’t stick to the back of the watch like I seem to remember. Have I got this totally wrong? Please can someone explain in simple terms how to attach the charger?! Thanks

@maszop said in New SMART barometric algorithm: @wakarimasen This has nothing to do with measuring altitude itself — that’s never been a problem with Suunto. Look at the top part of the altitude graph, and you’ll see a jagged line with multiple little, sharp peaks (caused by strong wind) that add up, giving absurd ascent and descent totals. It’s a bit better since the last update, but the results are still absurd and essentially useless for any analysis. Understood. Ascent/ descent isn’t so important for me, I guess. I’m just pleased to get to the top, and know how far there is to go on the way there. My Polar watch ‘over-read’ by 10m at the summit, for comparison.

@DrSilverthorn said in Course planner feature suggestion: @sky-runner this could work. Maybe the degree to which you prefer one solution vs another is tied to how obsessively you’re watching the info I think I’d prefer the configurability of a data field option, which would probably involve fewer button presses If there was a dedicated waypoint data screen and I could customize it, I’d definitely use that. But in general I don’t like Suunto’s approach of mixing navigation specific data fields with other data fields on regular data screens. I don’t like having unused data fields when navigation isn’t used. I also don’t like an idea of having a special sport customization just for the case when I use navigation. In my opinion, navigation specific data should only be visible when I use navigation and otherwise be hidden. Garmin solved that by allowing users to customize navigation specific data screens that only show up during navigation. My eyesight isn’t that great anymore so I don’t like having a lot of data fields on each data screen (4 or 5 at max), which means with only 3 data screens I can’t even afford to waste some of the space for navigation specific data fields like distance to next waypoint or ETA. I used that in the past with Suunto 9, but would definitely prefer a cleaner solution. When I used Garmin. I always enabled the “Up Next” feature, which is a dedicated data screen that shows up to 4 upcoming waypoints with their names, symbols, and remaining distances to them.

@Mff73 In my opinion, the negative interpretation often depends on the stress level of the person reading. Firmware updates are something many of us users really look forward to, because besides fixing bugs they also bring improvements that let us enjoy our devices even more. Over the past weeks I’ve submitted several feature suggestions (like the one about customizable alarms and notifications), confirmed bugs reported by other users, and reported a few that I personally found. I also went back and read some older posts from two or three years ago, and many of the suggested features keep appearing again over time. So I’m not sure the next updates will actually resolve or improve that much. Still, as a user I hope they will, and as a fan I’m always curious and a bit impatient to see what the next update will bring.

@Horizontal_2 That initial steep decline is probably related to charging without charging. The current cycle does not show a similar steep discharge at the beginning. Basically, I am currently satisfied with the consumption/battery life of the watch. I have had the watch for 1 year, but it was purchased second-hand. The original owner claimed that he had only used the watch for a few months.

Since nobody answered this, perhaps I can answer some of my questions myself. Overall, Vertical Running profile seems nearly identical to Trail running, except for data screens. When it is synced to Strava it shows in Strava as trail running When running, the laps data screen shows power for mile splits. At the end of each lap the summary shows horizontal speed in miles per hour rather than vertical speed, which is odd and inconsistent. Also, why is it speed rather than pace? VO2max does get estimated the same way as during running This profile is supposed to focus on vertical speed, but I found it to be super unstable and difficult to read. Even at a very gentle uphill, at nearly walking speed the vertical speed exceeds 1000 ft/hour, so 4 digits, and becomes difficult to comprehend because it keeps changing every second +/- 200 ft/hour even when moving steady or just standing in one place, so the last two digits are just random noise.

@2b2bff Then you calibrate your watch on that distance. And count laps to know your progress. Or buy a stryd. That’s a rather advanced footpod and is able to track distance by measuring leg swings quite well.

Would it be convenient for you to find another Service Manual, for a S9 Peak pro ? Thanks in advance.

@Egika said in FW 2.50.26 Demo Mode has a poor menu position: I am never powering off any of my watches. They go into DND if I don’t need them. Plus when they sit on the shelf, they go into some super low power mode so that the battery last weeks. Still there might be more people using power off than demo, but I guess there are not many at all. Do you think the most used menu items should be at the top and at the bottom of a list? I pressed demo mode twice when fast scroll and accept when wanted to do soft reset. I forgot it’s not last option anymore
