Measuring Work Days
-
Hi, I’m really loving my S9B but am trying to adapt it for my work, which is delivering mail and packages—so I’m constantly “stopping and hopping”. I am averaging 15-20k steps and carrying sometimes hundreds of packages and boxes in a day. I wish there was a way i could measure my activity without the time in the truck. I guess like the autopause feature, but with an upper speed limit as well: so when I’m traveling over 7-8 mph it would pause, e.g.
My work is very physical and demanding but the included sport modes are understandably geared towards dedicated training efforts, not the constant switching from driving to physical effort over 8-10 hrs/day. I’m looking for the most accurate CTL, ATL, TSS etc, and it’s simply not possible for me to pause/resume hundreds of times a day.
I can’t be the only person who’d love this feature, and forgive me if it’s been answered (i searched unsuccessfully). If anybody has any hacks or workarounds I’d be interested n hearing about them. Thank you!

@Tim-Hall maybe you can try to use multisport mode

@babychai
If manual pause is not an option, multisport won’t be neither : it requires a manual button press. -
@babychai thanks i did look into that but as the next commenter said it wasn’t ideal. I appreciate it.

I did something similar some years ago with my Suunto Spartan Ultra. I was interested in steps and distance in a building where I teached some classes and had to change the room and floor after every lesson.
I started the activity “walking”, activated auto-stop and deactivated gps in energy saving options.
All my steps and the distance and if I remember the ascent (barometric measured) were recorded and when I stopped walking the auto-stop jumped in.
Driving in your truck should stop the activity because of the missing steps.
I was astonished that I got good results at the end of the day.
May be it is worth a try for you …

@pilleus thank you i will try that!

Hi pilleus—i tried your suggestion and it’s working really well so far. Only a few days’ worth of data but much cleaner. Greatly appreciate the help!

I think there is no better way at the moment. Glad you had success with it!

And that is why you have to love these fora. There is usually someone who has found a way to do something when you could not!

@Swaddy61 I’ve learned tips and workarounds from the forums. A bunch of people that done accept “that’s the way it is” but a bunch of people that say “they’re has to be a way”.
