@elbee @isazi thank you for the explanation! good to know!
Not sure if allowed to go that offtopic, or if you have a word/opinion/experience, but how AI changed firmware dev/testing/etc? Although it still does a lot of mistakes, I would say, it should be night and day difference no? to release/make/test new features/bug fixing?

And at the same time you need to know that test firmware can totally ruin your data and watch sometimes. It is not like beta testing the new iOS. In early stages it usually is far from super stable and safe…

out of curiosity, do you use your own watch, or does Suunto provide you with one?

        both.
Suunto of course provides testers with test watches for new models. Not only the software needs testing, but the hardware as well.
At the same time most users have their own private watches as well (sometimes on production firmware).

@André-Faria I do not work at Suunto, I guess they use LLMs there, but I have no idea how and how much.

I was asking in general, not suunto specified 😃

@André-Faria at my institute we use LLMs, I am not a huge fan, but there are ways in which they can help developers. It is still early days though, IMHO, and we will see what the real effect is in few years from now.

                    @withManish

So far, it seems that regularly reboots (like in weekly or more) and occasional depletion of the battery mitigates my 2 biggest problems: battery drain of 15% per night and I couldn’t do a 7 hours hike when I started with 48% battery left and bluetooth connection lost to my heart rate sensor and stryd during workouts.

Suunto isn’t working on fixing those 2 problems and definitely not for my race s.

On the other hand, my previous (expensive!) garmin forerunner 965 I sold after about a year of use due to the many annoyances. My race s I still use for almost 2 years. Most of the time it’s fine.

Exact same issues with regards battery drain.

I did a test setting my watch on a table and starting a full GPS activity, after six hours it had lost 16% of the battery. The following day I put the watch in the same place for 6 hours just on standby mode with 24 hour HR tracking and the watch lost 8% of the battery.

Surely the watch shouldn’t be loosing as much battery just in standby mode!?

I had gone down the route of contacting suunto support, and after loads of emails they acknowledged there was an issue but would only offer me 10% off a new watch.

I’m still hoping that a fix is coming.

Hello, I’m following the drain battery since many days and that are the data that I collected :
2026-09-10 15_10_56-S&OP MDD 2026-09.pptx - PowerPoint.png I’m a little bit short in data for GPS Perfoamance + HR because I’m injured so I don’t do activities of more than 50 minutes
I don’t know if somebody has also data collection like that. (for information I have a Race Titanium)
