Since installing the latest update, my Suunto Race 2 has not been calculating distance based on the wheel circumference I enter. No matter what value I enter – even an unreasonably large one – it always underestimates the distance by around 5–8 per cent. Thinking that the original Suunto cadence and distance sensor had broken, I bought a Wahoo one, which is exactly the same! Have any of you experienced a similar problem?

I’d love a red light option for the flashlight (Race S screen flashlight) and automatic update of my min and max HR based on resting or sleeping heart rate.

@elbee the battery life is not an issue to me either, if you charge it while showering, you will never have an issue. Only the trail runners on 3 dat hikes will be. And charging on a power bank triggers bugs and boot loops (I have experienced). Reading Bluetooth badly is really a big thing to not fix by Suunto. They have the opportunity to support many devices, and they can acquire a pre-digitalized signal, no need for any algorthms to digest signals.

@duffman19 So I tried first with a short stretching activity. Delete from SA, log out of SA, login again, resync and it showed the activity again. However. doing so with my long run, seems to not resync although it’s still on the watch (at least showing on the watch. I noticed. Daily HR, steps, resources are all in SA including the activity time. But GPS and activity stats are not. Would be great to ad Fit/json manualy Back into SA. That’s possible? Is it possible json and fit files are deleted if you uninstal SA?? Would be an explanation I can’t find them on my phone anymore.

Got this update yesterday, that is my thread on Reddit… Unfortunately bug with power meter being disconnected after auto-pause is still there… I haven’t yet had time to test other stuff.

@laurent.claustre well yes, updated the app yesterday and immediately synced a route i had in library - which i know was not working previously. Now, i didn’t hike it to confirm, but preview (from navigation) shows it is fine now, as opposed to how it was before. I encourage you to update the app and try.

I know that HR measurement at the wrist can be difficult and it is better to use a chest strap. However, even for normal walking (not even Nordic walking) I get horribly wrong measurements, e.g. yesterday the watch showed a maximum of 139 bpm in the afternoon, but an 24h-ECG (which should be 100% accurate) shows a maximum of 106 bpm in the morning (it is hard to search for the same time span). Anyhow, the difference is not acceptable! Yes the watch has correct settings (left arm) and is correctly attached to the wrist. What can I do? I need to track my pulse.

Good day, I have a Suunto Spartan Ultra and have had it for 8 years. From my last Samsung UI update my watch has not synced my daily steps with the Suunto app. I have tried the following but not success: Restart phone and watch. Reinstall Suunto App Force stop Suunto App Unpair watch from phones Bluetooth and reconnect. Gave all items on Suunto App permission. Made sure Suunto APP and phone is not on energy saving mode. If anyone has a solution please assist. Kind regards

I haven’t used my D5 since January; I got it out of the cupboard today to charge it as it’s dead, but I can’t remember how to attach the charger. I’ve searched the manual but it just says ‘attach’, it doesn’t explain how. There’s a red thing on the end of the cable which I seem to recall ‘snaps’ onto the watch, but right now it’s not snapping onto anything - it doesn’t stick to the back of the watch like I seem to remember. Have I got this totally wrong? Please can someone explain in simple terms how to attach the charger?! Thanks

Interesting take! A lightweight Suunto with Stryd support would be a game-changer for runners. I doubt they’ll add it, but if they did, I’d consider it too. The T6c was legendary—2000 miles is impressive!

@isazi Maybe an idea for Suunto to make this configurable? I have no idea how big of a battery impact this WiFi syncs have on the watch.

@Ecki-D. Cool idea! I’d be happy even with a “smart” chest strap if Suunto will bring one to the market.

@Stefano-M64 correct. As most phones can also connect USB memory sticks, they are able to power them. And: Afaik there is a European regulation about chargers, that require them to be USB-C This is why Suunto Run has a USB-C charger. And upcoming new models as well.

@Francesco-Pagano Yes, I bought SensoRun Sensors, but they are not very easy to use. Only works with native app and the values are somehow strange. No GCT Balance there, but at least I could compare stride length left and right. That helped me monitoring my improvements, stride length is nearly equal now. But what my right leg is missing is the stiffness / bouncing capability. I had hopes to monitor this difference with the Ground Contact Time measurement

@sky-runner said in New Suunto Run Watch interface on older models (Vertical, Race, Race S)?: Spinning the crown is difficult when wearing gloves Not on a Coros watch, since the crown friction is much lower than on Suunto offerings <-- My experience: Pace 2 versus Race S. The Coros was a breeze to use even with thick finger gloves; did not try with ski mittens though… Instead I’d say that having to keep the crown pushed in for several seconds to scroll backwards, the Suunto way, is the real elephant in the room. As for other possible transfers from the Run watch to older models, sure! I would like sensible ones, but please not the ‘Fluff’. Back in 2013/2014 Garmin introduced Ground Contact Time on the FR620 and FR920XT, as well as Vertical Oscillation. This, together with the old (useful) data point Cadence, they called Running Dynamics. We spent countless hours on the forum discussing possible ways to make the numbers actionable, with little success. Basically it boiled down to “run faster” to lower the GCT and/or switch from heel striking to mid- or forefoot landing. VO is also lowered by “running faster”, but that’s about it. ‘You is You’ when it comes to running technique, and only mileage and experience will make your body adjust to the safest and most energy efficient running style for Your Body. Same goes for the Ground Contact Time Balance which Garmin squeezed into the RD set in 2015 (not backported to the FR620, you had to buy the new FR630…) The forum discussions were hilarious, and absolutely Zero clarification from Garmin. For example: 51-49 - meaning the GCT was slightly longer on the left foot - did that signify that something in the left leg department (hip, thigh, ankle etc) was weaker, injured or whatever than the right area, OR that your body favoured the left side because the right side was weaker, injured… etc. etc. The suggestions for how to balance a possible ‘imbalance’ took on surreal tones when one of the moderators claimed to having achieved 50-50 by holding one of the arms straight out from the body - this while running… I certainly would not buy a new version Suunto watch based on such frivolous additions.

@maszop To stop an activity it is effectively two button press but one on the bottom one (pause to option screen) and then the middle button (stop activity). It is not so an accidental pattern, isn’t it?
