Track mode for other sports
-
As I do not run on tracks, but do other sports on similar tracks it would be nice to enjoy the benefits of track mode. Will this be an option?
Additionally does it support standard track sizes for the following sports:
Track cycling: Usually 250m, but can be 133m - 500m
Inline skating: 200m and 333m (~300m inside lane) and 400m (~378m on the inside lane)
Ice
Ice skating: 333m (~300m inside lane) and 400m (~378m on the inside lane)Any sport: Arbitrary track shapes

@tessa I guess, usually on Ice rinks or track cycling you are under a roof. GPS will not work well indoors.
So I doubt that this will work well.Outdoors next to track running you still have the “loop S+” that generates autolaps to compare arbitrary loop shapes.

Considering there are about 21 official outdoor rinks in the Netherlands and many more unofficial, two with artificial ice and multiple with coatings that allow for ice at 5 degrees celsius it’s not that rare. For indoor there’s already a solution with vinksite so I’m not concerned about that.
There are various outdoor velodromes in the UK, France, Japan and some other locations.
Also 200m and 400m rinks for inline skating do not work very well with the suunto+ app as it misses the lap count quite often. Afterwards the distance and speed are also quite incorrect. Sometimes by up to 20 km/h.

We still have an outdoor ice rink I use 1-2 times a week every winter. They are building a new one but indoors. Would be great to have some kind of tracking there too.
I wonder why nobody has come up with some kind of indoor gps-beacons where you can triangulate position and speed against it.
Even my cheap vaccum bot knows the position of its charging station.
This could be a service provided by professionell ice rinks and could be used to analyse games and training too. -
@Ecki-D. In the Netherlands all indoor rinks are fitted with mylaps timing that provides very accurate timing so demand for gps on that front is very low.

@tessa I am more into freestyle skating - so I guess have to drive too the next outdoor ring for tracking in a couple of years
