@Brad_Olwin I just took possession of my R2 titanium trail today and got it paired and set up without issue. This was the easiest device to set up out of the box that I’ve ever had. Coming from an Ambit 2 it’s like going from ox drawn cart to Ferrari. The display is out of this world and scrolling around the features is buttery smooth. Early days but so far I’m liking it a lot.

This is insane. I remember 9PP had an issue measuring HR when off the wrist, then it was fixed in 2024. And now they are back to square 1. Most likely they could’t reuse any of the OHR sensor code from 9PP due to different hardware and are writing it from scratch making the same mistakes. ‍️

@kurtpenter thanks but no dice… I did reply to that thread as it looks like something I’ve experienced also Today’s easy run and I’m still getting wrist power. I guess I’ll try to unpair and re-pair the pod with the watch. Annoying! And Race 2 prices even second hand are too steep for me to try switching to newer watch. This issue was tolerable for a few months. It’s just this week it seems to be persistent instead of “once every few weeks”.

@Jervin-Reyes said in Power Saving: but what it actually turning off? How less frequent is Hr readings? Does this affects other metrics especially for sleeping? Afaik there’s no daily HR -> no sleep -> no HRV, no raise to wake, touch stays enabled. BT stays operational so you can use SA and any device during an activity. OHR remains operational during an activity. Is it worth activating it? It depends on whether sleep, daily HR and HRV matter to you

Received feedback from the support team. They tell me that the Peak Pro is no longer manufactured, nor that they have the parts to repair it. Not sure why they talk about parts, as to me, the issue had nothing to do with “mechanics” (but hey I’m not a techncian). Their position is “we can maybe fix it, but a cost that wouldn’t be relevant to you”, so instead, they offer to me a replacement with another device. With an incredible discount of 10€ !!! Quite interstingly, the Peak Pro is one of the models they’re offering in this deal of the century. Yes. The same model that is not manufactured anymore and for which they have no spare parts if there’s an issue. Just bought a new Sports2. But with a “I give these guys one last chance, before I move to G” approach, as I’m pretty pi**ed off, the failure happened after a failed update (according to me, but once again, I’m no Suunto technicain), 2 weeks after the warranty expired, and by the fact that the support is putting me in a position where I have no other option that to buy a new device. Aren’t they clamining they are a sustainable company? “Repairability” is the basis of being sustainable, especially for a device that was first realseased less than 3 years ago. Or is the image they want to give some sort of green-washing. Anyways…

Hello, today we noticed this issue on my wifes 5 Peak. Unfortunatelly it has already 2.5 year so it is not under warranty anymore. And she is light user, and not wearing it while washing dishes, showering, sleeping etc. Only around 9hours a day during working days only and then while cycling/hiking but thats few times a month. @Antoine I experienced the same thing yesterday, and it was very strange. I put my watch on charge at 8%. It was charging fine. Then it stopped at 91%. I waited an hour, took it out, and put it back on charge, and it immediately hit 92%. Then, when it stayed at 92%, I took it out again, and this time it stayed at 99%. I wore it like this on my wrist now.

@pavel.samokha Is there any hope that the Balkans will get back the contour lines above the 200 m limit anytime soon? I’m really struggling to understand why some regions get this but others don’t. This has now been going on for years, and I tend to buy a new watch every 2-3 years. So it spans the entirety of this watch’s lifetime with me. Why do some regions get better treatment regarding maps? Should this be presented to buyers so they know that, depending on the region they live in, some features could not work as expected? I love Suunto ecosystem and build quality, but I’m not sure I’d accept this limitation on my next watch TBH.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos if it’s not too late… > Agility would also be great. I would even think that having two different GPS tracks simultaneously recorded (one for the dog and one for the runner) would be incredible (just dreaming… or maybe an actual business opportunity ).

@Tomas5 A little late, but yes - at least my Race S has automatic brightness. It works sometimes good, sometimes really bad. Must of the summer with the bright sun coming from one side you either have a really bright and readable display (sun side) or its unreadable (shadow side). Yesterday on a sunny autumn trailrun in the woods it worked really great. I think the more dizzy light helps. My conclusion is: AMOLED can work great - when the software helps to optimize the light settings. There is room for improvement and so is hope…

@Alpha-156.42 said in OHR: Why do people believe that optical heart rate sensors, no matter if they’re from Garmin, Apple, or other brands, can measure heart rate accurately in every situation? This is why, text directly from suunto race 2 product page: The redesigned back panel enables better heart rate measurement from the wrist. The result? A seamless, powerful training experience. But text that it doesn’t work for everyone or every skin tone is buried somewhere in usermanual only. It is same with sleeptracking or any other metric. If you sell device for 500€ and advertise that it does something, then you must expect that people will require that advertised features just works. This is overal problem of marketing, not just Suunto.

@Brad_Olwin Definitely would be though I use an Oura ring for sleep, even more comfortable Would be great if Suunto/Oura had an integration though I don’t think any of the watches have that.

@Josaiplu RPE is a very good metric, but feeling is not exactly that and there was a thread where one could see that people understand that quite differently, therefor any addition to algorithm does not make sense also in my opinion. (But Recovery is also kind of made up metric that has not much science behind it, so maybe it fits, idk)

@sky-runner Ok, I think I see where you mean - that small section between the two dots (waypoints or turns)? So you think it just skipped ahead while you were somewhere on section 6? (Sorry, I’m trying to follow along.) Perhaps in addition to the watch always trying to figure out which direction you’re traveling, it’s also always trying to figure out where you are along the route, rather than just assuming you are strictly moving from one point to the next. So maybe somewhere along section 6, it incorrectly guessed you were farther along in your route (since the paths cross at 6/7) and updated the directional arrow accordingly, but hadn’t yet updated the distance remaining since that lags behind. I’d bet if you had followed the light blue path, away from your car, the remaining distance would have also skipped ahead soon after. But since you followed the route as planned, it didn’t have time to adjust to this mistake. Whatever is going on, you are correct that it’s screwy and inconsistent.

@duffman19 said in Suunto navigation tendency to auto-reverse route when it shouldn't. Bug or misguided feature?: I think the best solution is to offer a menu option to navigate a route backwards, so the user must knowingly select it. I agree, happened to me today as well. I may be mistaken but iirc that was possible when I used the Ambit 3 peak

@raven I totally agree with you on this. I would seriously consider it as a daily driver if it has better watch faces (or at least updates rather than the original set still…) and maps. I could probably live without ZS, but I love Climb Guidance and better watch faces.

@soisan Are you sure those are trails and not dirt roads? Dirt roads are visible at one level beyond trails. In the USA, when the watch is configured in imperial units, trails are visible up to 500 ft (150m) and dirt roads up to 0.2mi (320m). But I think even 500m is insufficient. Up until a few months ago I could still see trails at 0.5mi zoom level (800m). And I thought even that was insufficient.

@Thunderchicken Yes, there is a SuuntoPlus app named Emergency Info that does exactly this. When active, it rotates between two screens: one showing medical details, and another showing emergency contacts. It takes up one of the two available SuuntoPlus slots and is only visible while recording an activity, but it would serve a similar purpose as your note. It would be nice to have this feature always available as a widget. Maybe in the future SuuntoPlus apps will work this way… [image: 1758318937437-img_de4b173e85d7-1.jpeg]
