The red one is with a Coros band. The one with two drop outs is with a Garmin HRM Pro+ The blue total disconnect one was with a new Polar strap. As I look at most workouts with BT HRMs I see dropouts and reconnects. My Coros and Garmins do not do this. It was an issue about a year ago to have total disconnects and that seems to be remedied, but I wanted to ask. Why does Suunto have an issue staying connected even when the HR during a workout does not disappear? In the red one it showed okay in the workout that it was okay and stayed continuous, but that doesn’t seem like it should be happening. (BTW the last red one is where I just walked around the farm in a walk activity to see what it would do so the HR is very low.) The graphs are done using DC Rainmaker Analyzer. Any insight would be great, Thanks!

@outdoorman, et al. – What I’ve noticed is that… Race 2 unpaired from iPhone & powered down Re-paired, synced, etc. with no sticky notifications Went for run this morning (first activity since re-pairing) and sticky notifications are back, even though no phone with me during run; activity saved post-run before getting in range of phone for sync, notifications, etc. Others’ experiences the same or similar? Debating whether or not to unpair/re-pair with phone as it seems like quite the hassle just to avoid the stickiness. Regardless, I hope Suunto has seen this thread or been otherwise made aware of the issue and has a fix with next update.

@Pierre-Matelski If you want the battery to last as long as possible during everyday use (outside of workouts), make these adjustments in the Settings menu: Display > Always-on: Turn this option off. Let the screen wake only when you look at the watch. Display > Brightness: Set it to Auto or reduce it to Low. Connectivity > Media Controls: Turn this off if you don’t usually control music playing on your iPhone from the watch, as it keeps Bluetooth active and uses more battery. Backlight with Button Press: Turn this feature on so the backlight only comes on when you press a button, preventing the display from lighting up by itself at night while you’re in bed.

@sindavide said: @elbee I largely agree with you. The point is that we pay for those functions, so Ikd expect them to work in an acceptable manner I would rather not pay for functions that perhaps may sound useful but in real life aren’t (either because they don’t work very well, or aren’t how things work or are just marketing bs). But I realize it’s easier to make a watch for people who just want to collect as much data as they can or have fomo, in stead of a watch that is 100% tailored to 1 individual. As long as I can turn things off, I’m make. Manufacturers make the most stupid choices for this. On my previous garmin I could turn off morning report, on my Suunto I cannot. But if I disable sleep tracking, morning report is also disabled. (End result is great, the way to do is is stupid). Garmin added voices alerts to tbt alerts, which couldn’t be turned off. It drove me (and quite a few others on the garmin forum) nuts. Sold my garmin and bought a Suunto. (And my wife noticed I complain less about my watch)

I know that HR measurement at the wrist can be difficult and it is better to use a chest strap. However, even for normal walking (not even Nordic walking) I get horribly wrong measurements, e.g. yesterday the watch showed a maximum of 139 bpm in the afternoon, but an 24h-ECG (which should be 100% accurate) shows a maximum of 106 bpm in the morning (it is hard to search for the same time span). Anyhow, the difference is not acceptable! Yes the watch has correct settings (left arm) and is correctly attached to the wrist. What can I do? I need to track my pulse.

Good day, I have a Suunto Spartan Ultra and have had it for 8 years. From my last Samsung UI update my watch has not synced my daily steps with the Suunto app. I have tried the following but not success: Restart phone and watch. Reinstall Suunto App Force stop Suunto App Unpair watch from phones Bluetooth and reconnect. Gave all items on Suunto App permission. Made sure Suunto APP and phone is not on energy saving mode. If anyone has a solution please assist. Kind regards

I haven’t used my D5 since January; I got it out of the cupboard today to charge it as it’s dead, but I can’t remember how to attach the charger. I’ve searched the manual but it just says ‘attach’, it doesn’t explain how. There’s a red thing on the end of the cable which I seem to recall ‘snaps’ onto the watch, but right now it’s not snapping onto anything - it doesn’t stick to the back of the watch like I seem to remember. Have I got this totally wrong? Please can someone explain in simple terms how to attach the charger?! Thanks

I’m using the apex 2 pro strap on my vertical. I had a nylon strap from amazon before. But it was far too rigid and got a fixed bend in the fabric where I normally had it set up. So I couldn’t make small adjustments anymore as it just jumped back to the bend. I wasn’t a fan of my apex 2 pro. But coros definitely has the nicest nylon strap that I’ve used.

@Dan-Cantir Indeed, I changed “location access” to “Always”, and since then the weather forecast has Benn updated automatically multiple times. Thank you. I don’t see why this is necessary (at least I would accommodate having a forecast for the last location where I opened the app), but for now it works and I don’t need to start a synchronisation from my watch anymore.

@arpoodle This is in the manual, all you have to do is set an intensity zone for HR, Pace or Power during your workout. Not available for cadence but the Cadence S+ app will do this.

@Sebastiaan-van-leeuwen I’d really like this feature. Sure some people won’t, but having it as an option would be super useful. Currently I’m essentially only using the map screen on new routes, making the rest redundant as I can’t be switching all the time.

@Umer-Javed my 2 cents here : Still a triangulation method gives already very accurate position, this is typically what we were doing during my army with 2 visible points. Nowadays watches with GPS allow to extend this principle even when there is fog and you 2 visibles points are … not visible So tirangulation gives a very good position, still approximative and it is more for the pleasure to do it Concerning the SUUNTO + SAFE sceen, it is a nice one but I do not like it … gps coordinates are not such easy to use. do you know WHAT 3 WORD ? … my dream is that there is a revision of this widget with also the capacity in these S+ screens to use the scroll and if such to separate the screen into 3 : 1) the current position with W3W 2) the current position with GPS coordinate 3) the initial position with GPS coordinate, distance and direction . Doing such it will allow to use bigger fonts… Go visit this : https://what3words.com/ Why I suggest W3W ? is you are in difficulties or in any other reasons, for example you want to give your position to a friend … not so many people talk GPS coordinate … also they might not hear well and a small difference (so a small error / misunderstanding) in GPS coordinate can generate a big error on the map, instead giving 3 words to your friend allow him to simply use his own phone and locate you, so later to indicate to anybody where you are, or … to go to you this will work in mountain as well as in a town or … a big supermarket … and you with a nice phone or a very old one my idea also here is : let’s PLAY with this watch but not just find it beautiful so totaly agree with you

  • What's the lowest heart rate that OHR can measure?

Now that the Finnish summer vacations are over, let’s try again! The reason I ask is because on Oura ring, “technical limitations” are cited as reason that 33 is the lowest heart rate it can measure. For comparison, I have recorded some nights with Polar OH1. The lowest numbers it has shown have been 30, 31 and 32 with reasonable graphs but who knows about the accuracy… I did in fact upgrade from 9B to 9PP after all and so far it has measured 32 and 33 a couple of times. We’ll see what happens when it’s time for a marathon taper

@Mister-PYC I would love if Suunto had two different lock options. One that locks everything like now. And one that allowed you to do everything except pausing or stopping an activity. Let me do laps, zoom on the map, change to the climb guide on the elevation profile and so on. Without the risk of stopping the activity.

@luke55 Would be great if it would (also) work directly with the Suunto App as it is already possible to pair the HR belt

@objpath it is not “fixed”, it is not a “bug”, the Suunto Navigation map since at least the Spartan series always rotate into the compass (low speed) or movement (higher speed) direction. you can vote for this feature suggestion, and … hope.

@isazi ok thanks for your feedback. So I guess it’s more accurate then when there are « few » sections » with big elevations than on routes with lot of sections and few elevation. (By the way I realize that the exemple I’ve taken was not good => in mountains I experimented that it was working pretty well)
