@zhang965 I thought long and hard about staying out of this discussion but yeah. I really believe the general consensus is that this function simply isn’t as intuitive as we’d like, for starters. And thus there is that published “matrix” that is meant to help users to set it up for the various situations such as watch mode, exercise mode, etc. That plus the fact that there seems to be a technical issue (software and/or hardware) that isn’t consistent or reliable given a user’s situation, leads to added stress and frustration. This leads to “workarounds”. Personally, for night activities I’ve trained myself to remember to turn on backlight before hitting start. I remember to do this maybe 80% of the time! Literally, in this world today and as others have mentioned earlier, we’ve got to carry on, get out there and get the run/hike or whatever done regardless of expectations we put on our gadgets. I work for a software development firm (Agile/DevOps, 2-week sprints). Development moves swiftly. Requirements and feature requests are in abundance. We’ve all become demanding consumers. Sci-fi movies fuel our expectations. Good things are in the works surely for Suunto and the fitness/wellness technology industry. I’ll leave this here and exit the room - Years ago there was a slogan “People, powered by Technology”. I forget who or what organization came up with that. While that is kind of cool, I remind myself to turn that around and see it like this - “Technology, powered by people”. It kind of puts you the user in control, at least in the mental space. In other words, let’s not let the good/bad aspects of technology get to us. “Adventure starts with - you (here)”. The technology is along (with us) for the ride, not the other way around. Haha. I think this was more about me convincing myself.

I also have two Suunto 9 Baro watches. Latest firmware. The difference in altitude readings on one route is more than 10%.

You dont need to repair. Keep the watch paired with one device and in your tablet for example you can see the activities etc.

@isazi Thank you. The watch was purchased in October 2018 so is getting old. I did however manage to fix my problem. When I restarted the watch the Active GPS setting was showing “NA”. I restarted again and the current date came up and worked fine this morning.

@reitlinger Make sure on your phone the watch is not Bluetooth connected and make sure on the watch there is no Mobile App in Paired Devices. Also, what phone?

@dmytro, @nseslija thanks for the replies. I have the standard strap that came with the watch. I am thinking about the diving strap, but that would be too long for normal use. This is why I thought about an extension. I need a really long strap to put the watch over the sleeve of the ski jacket (you need some bulk when you ski at -25 C - -30 C). For XC I can squeeze the sleeve enough, even if with some difficulty (the 3rd hand would be handy).

Looking at TP and Suunto App again it seems like the HR is displaced 6mins to the left.

@carlo-rocca you can disable sleep and hr and notifications. But not steps/cals if I’m not wrong, but they don’t consume a lot and you should be able to have over a week of battery.

@mdzott I also agree with you both in that the data in SA is correct. But Suunto must know that Strava is not developing for them and in fact due to market share would be more likely to develop for Garmin etc just due to number of devices connecting to Strava. Therefore understanding much of the market uses Strava as an end service, Suunto could be proactive and ensure that their run counts looked correct both in SA and Strava by adjusting how it transpired in how the file was written. A hard sell since its more work for very little tangible payoff so I understand why it is the way it is today…just noting the full scope of the problem.

@isazi going back while timer running is already possible. Just not with timer stopped (there is no real pause button). You even get the running timer shown here (and a tap on the time takes you back to the timer main screen) [image: 1645088526757-42034871-ed4f-4c2f-8c0f-39517e1f7caf.jpeg]

@egika I did try all possible uninstall/install, log out/log in options. I’ll try running at a higher intensity for a few runs and see if the issue is solved. Thank you all for your prompt replies!
