Suunto 9 blocked
-
Good evening everyone.
I just experienced an issue with my suunto 9 Baro Black. It always worked perfectly but suddenly for no reasons, is stuck to the same screen since 2 hours ago.No button works, the hour doesn’t change, and the screen doesn’t even light up. My phone has lost the Bluetooth connection and what is still constantly working is the wrist HR detector.
Do you know if there’s a button combination I should press in order to put it back to work or this might be a defect of the product (I bought it 3 weeks ago and never had problems so far!).
Thanks in advance to anyone who will help

Hello you can try pressing top button during more than 12 seconds, it should start a hard reset of the watch. Never tried myself you will tell me if it works thanks

Had a similar issue with the Spartan Trainer.
Only way to resolve the situation was to let the battery run out of charge.
Then after recharging the watch came back to life. With Spartans the normal re-set button combinations are pressing and holding the top right button or top right and middle button (wich then puts the watch in boot mode and needs a data cable to make it work again) - neither of this helped with my Trainer (and also not the Trainer specific button presses since it has more of them)
If your HR LED’s are still operating it should not take too long to drain the battery if the normal reset does not halp.
Cheers

Hi Alex! Thanks for your reply! It actually worked. Do you have any clue why this happened?
It suddenly stopped to work when tried to sync with one of the suunto or suunto movescount app -
When having both apps installed on the phone it can cause this behavior. Even if they are not running at the same time, it can cause the watch to block. Some users have absolutely no problems, while others experience blocked watches or watches that always restarts several times when both apps are installed.

I have only suunto app on my android smartphone and I have never experienced my suunto 9 blocked for weeks . For movescount I use my PC with USB, usually once a week.

My experience, both apps installed, not at the beginning, but after some time, brings problems with the watch. Remove one

@aldnet seconded: my experience of two apps was ‘stop doing that don’t be silly.’

Like you and others said, it worked some time, but stopped. It did worked yesterday though.

The problem with the 2 apps is that they should not run in parallel. Some users forget to close one and perhaps double sync happens

1.2.1 (6332) tried to force failures by launching the app´s at the same time, in inverted order, close / open another while executing earlier. No issues, no blocks, no restarts except as usual. Bluetooth link is always interrupted and is not possible sincronize nothing. I SSU owner!
