Hi everyone, I placed my Suunto Ocean on the charging dock earlier today, and since then, it has been completely stuck on a screen that says: “The device is being restored to a safe state”. Since I’ve been using the exact same wall outlet, cable, and adapter setup for the past two years without any issues, I think I can rule out a hardware or power supply fault. My guess is that this might be related to today’s software update. Has anyone else encountered this issue or managed to find a workaround? Note: I’ve already tried a soft reset, but unfortunately, it didn’t change anything or clear the screen. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!!

“Stealing” this from other post/thread: A night mode would be a good idea, indeed. I’ll have to run my upcoming ultra with a headlamp, anyways, but if the watch didn’t blind me, it would still be appreciated.

@Łukasz-Szmigiel I loaded it up and was able to start an activity. However when I hit the lap button Constantin disappeared the first time I tried. On the second attempt I was able to keep it on the screen. Looks like it might be fixed.

@zhangschmidt said in A BIG BIG BIG THANKS and APLAUSE to SUUNTO Team both watch and IT designer ...: How do you change the data in that field? It isn’t very intuitive. You have to tap it with touch. And to make it even less intuitive, when a new custom sport mode is created, touch is disabled by default. “Map only” touch mode would be far more appropriate default. I find it time and time again that field testing isn’t adequate and doesn’t find some pretty obvious issues. Or perhaps field testing finds the issues but then the dev team ignores them and releases anyway.

@claudio_101 The inaccuracy and inconsistency of the built-in heart rate sensor in the Race has been discussed here before. Suunto must be aware of this since they added a second sensor to the Race S, and people who reviewed both the original Race and the Race S said the S performs significantly better. Is that worth buying another watch? Not for me - even though I’m disappointed with the Race built-in heart rate sensor, I like the watch in every other way and consider it worth keeping. If I want accurate heart rate I wear a chest strap. But that’s a personal decision.

@Mister-PYC said in What sport mode is missing from our watches in your opinion?: Again and again and again … for me what is missing is not a watch sport mode, but more a sport screen where there is only 1 but super big information. Yes, it isn’t clear to me why that wasn’t offered when creating a custom sport mode. Looking at the available data screen templates, there are options with 3, 4, 5, or 7 data fields, plus a single data field with a graph. Perhaps the latter is what you could try to use, but it looks like the font size is the same as in the 3 fields option. Speaking of the customization, I only use the 3 or 4 fields per data screen, and occasionally 5. With 7 fields the font is too small for me. For the same reason I never use the lap table - the numbers are way too small. Also I’ve never used interval data screens. I tried to use intensity zones data screen, but it seems to be broken and doesn’t work correctly. The graph data screen would be more useful if it was colored according to intensity zones.

@maszop Yes, that’s what I realized as well - either map of climb guidance. But I really wish there was a “race lock” mode that disables ability to accidentally pause. In fact, I wouldn’t mind the pause as long as it acted as a rest timer - with all metrics still recording and elapsed time continuing.

@Stefan-T. I was experiencing this after I first got the watch. I did a soft reset. In subsequent uses, 10% of daily usage Exercise, navigation off. Wake from wrist on AOD off. Screen brightness medium. Notifications on (I get a lot of notifications during the day) 24/7 wrist heart rate monitoring on I sync 3 times a day. I update the altimeter from GPS twice a day (just a habit ) Blood oxygen on. Alarm on every morning at 7 AM. Sleep tracking on. Sunrise and sunset alarms on. Media controls on when I listen to music through headphones. Sometimes I use the flashlight (for about 10 seconds. For advertising ) Things that come to mind. (English is not my first language. I use Google Translate sometimes, so apologies for any translation mistakes.)

@massimo-trinchieri said in Suunto Spark: @dreamer_ anche io avevo lo stesso problema della sovrapposizione audio, ora non lo fa più ma comunque non dà la metrica di corsa in tempo reale come annunciato. Se faccio partire le cuffie dall’app registra i dati con un file a parte ma non integrato nell’allenamento del race 2 So basically, Italian has the same issue as Spanish with the overlapped audios in English. This is important. Can anybody contact Suunto? Thanks

@MiniForklift I haven’t heard anybody using EPOC during a training. It is mainly mentioned in weight loss blogs. It is also questionable if a watch can determine EPOC because, besides heart rate, oxygen used must be measured. No watch can do that. So EPOC is guesstimated by the watch at best.

@sky-runner That’s correct – it’s a crash. Every time if it happens, the ascent reads 0, and the unlock screen just means the watch rebooted after crashing. The conditions were always the same: Hiking activity, map screen, active GPX navigation, and SuuntoPlus: Last km/mile, Weather Insights, and Burner. And always after the ‘destination reached’ message appeared.

@Manuel-Extreme Just a reminder: even when the Vertical 1 launched, it had serious performance problems – Suunto had to strip out full widgets, contour lines, map details and so on. So they managed to add a lot of things in the end, despite the hardware limitations
