@jthomi But … you’re a MODERATOR. It says so after your handle! In sinister black, no less. I have to assume that’s a euphemism for forum heavy … like ENFORCER (but a grade or two down from TERMINATOR). The democratic tone doesn’t fool me. I know The Man when I read him (or possibly her). And it’s a good thing. Otherwise chaos prevails and the forum descends into anarchy with a side-order of gibberish. Thank you.

@Cuba1hr Hi, I also switched from V800 to S9baro since November. V800 is unbelievable, without training I charge my watch every 30 days! S9baro have pulse measurement off, standby on, 2-3 times weekly exercises each lasting 1 hour 20min. I charge the watch after 10 to 12 days. I also wonder if we can check the history of our watch by serial number.

Not quite sure if this is the perfect place to - once more - wonder about the GPS-performance of the (= my !) Suunto 9. The GPS-performance (for me GPS+Galileo) for me in a regular running area with some challenges like trees and/or buildings is mostly acceptable, in the worst case mediocre due to some really annoying short but heavy ‘fluctuations’. BUT whenever there is a firmware update (as the hotfix) - or a soft-reset - than suddenly the GPS-performance is significantly improved … in the same area as described before … and obviously slightly deteriorating after some days until it is (see above) … no longer really good. @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos … might this be connected to something like a ‘not perfect’ storage ‘cleaning’ referring to A-GPS, so that only at the first start(s) after a reset the performance is good, or is only at the first runs after a reset that the GPS-1second-rhythm is really kept? Just wondering … and hoping for an improvement… or higher consistency.

@nseslija said in S9 Pool swimming - incorrect distance: https://www.suunto.com/Support/faq-articles/lifecycle/how-to-get-more-accurate-pool-swim-tracking/ Based on what’s in the manual I believe the additional turns are due crowded pool and the extra moves while trying to pass other swimmers. When there is no other swimmers there’s no extra turns either. Will try today with extra caution

@ianpet The only difference between the 9 and 9 baro is the absence of the barometer. All other features are the same. However, this has consequences. In either Endurance or Ultra mode you will have no real time elevation data. In Performance mode you will have elevation data but not as accurate as the baro version. That is about it, they both function identically besides those differences.

Ok thanks, though it would be nice to have, I’ll just forcefully close suunto app to not have any notification during activity.

@silentvoyager said in S9 Route Guidance: @Brad_Olwin, Rerouting is a fine feature. But it should trigger only after a user went in an opposite direction and kept going despite the watch warnings. Currently the watch reroutes proactively before you even know which way was the actual planned route. That has not occurred to me when turning around but with complicated routes and multiple directions from one intersection the watch can choose the wrong route. Similarly on an out and back the watch has re-routed me in the direction I already came from. However, this has not happened proactively, only when there are multiple choices at an intersection.

@silentvoyager You can also not give the permissions. Movescount as far as I know has more permissions that are granted on Install time not on runtime. The only permission SA really needs is BT / Location and the location permission is due to BT that is a location leaking module. The apps does not run in the background, a sync service to listen to BLE runs that is part of the app.

@D yes, I know. I was just making it clear that the GPS lost message was not something new introduced with this new firmware and has been there for a while.

@Brad_Olwin and to the rest of the community, Thanks for your inputs. Looks like I just have to hope and trust that the watch is able to self correct. BTW how can we tell if the watch had already self-adjusted it’s altitude? TIA!

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Just a small update/test after the latest firmware update: I exported the FIT files of two moves from Runalyze and used GPXSee to analyze the fit files. The tool has 2 ways to calculate the speed: “By distance/time” or “Recorded by device” Unfortunately the speed with GPS only didn’t improved very much after the latest firmware update if I calculate the speed by distance/time: [image: 1572558979770-1.png] If I calculate the speed by “Recorded by device” it started to look a bit better: [image: 1572558883557-2.png] The move with GPS+GLONASS however looks much cleaner if the speed is recorded by distance/time. Especially the second half [image: 1572559017704-3.png] Is this because of a better/stronger signal if I combine GPS+GLONASS? So it looks like the firmware update solved the speed wobble a little bit, but not quite like the Ambit 3 Peak. The speed spikes are also visible on the watch screen during the move, so it isn’t only the FIT file.
