@Oskar-Hellquist said in Brand new Suunto 9 can't update: I just got my new watch delivered. The battery is charged and when I try to update it through Suuntolink it keeps failing. When the update is about done the watch wants me to set up my profile with my language, height and weight etc. But about 60 seconds into the setup it freezes, goes back to the update screen and in Suuntolink it says that the update failed and the watch needs to be reset. This happens no matter if I try setting up the profile right away, or just leave it. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong, or if the watch is broken. Windows ? Mac? Which version?

@Stefan-Kersting well it is hard to tell zoom level just from screenshoot and url link doesn’t work. But it looks that it is near the path, i don’t know what speed you was walking / running. But usually while hiking I get much worse results with S5. But yes it has strange “regular” shape. But it can be just random. It is just my opinion (and i am no expert on GPS) but I think that if it was jamming, path wouldn’t be so accurate.

@freeheeler thank you. I think this is where I was going wrong although I’m assuming absolute pressure is at sea level, which is where I was for the week. Now I am back at home it makes more sense for the readings to be out by 8-9 hPa given my altitude.

@sartoric sorry, never saw this myself as I sync every day. older activity is only colored if it was synced successfully to the server. if it’s older and grey it still can be overwritten.

Had a run, cycled and showered with the strap, and wore it for more than 16 hrs without break. And up to now it is more comfortable to wear than a regular strap, when tight enough to ensure good readings, and measurements have been excellent. So it has been a really good recommendation (for me). How durable the strap is? Don’t know. It looks really good, but after such a short time nothing else should have been expected

A sensor is not working or broken. I’m afraid needs repair service.

@surfboomerang Ah, so it sounds like anything not included in the Custom options can be changed in a different menu. I’ll give that a try. Thx.

@Boris786 you may have a clogged or broken sensor. I do not have this issue. Do you have the baro or non-baro model? Never mind, the non-non-baro is ok on large hills but is poor on small rolling hills. Not much can be done for this

@spiros-apergis contact support, if it is a watch defect and your watch is under warranty they will replace it.

Sram gearing data, they only support ANT+ for external devices. We dont have ANT+ so I don’t know if the potentiometer will work with bluetooth

@wmichi it might depend on the sensor. I used to use the Suunto HR belt and now I use the Wahoo HR and cadence sensors, and I find that if I start the exercise, even with the sensors not ready, eventually (after 20-30 s), they show up. This might be because some sensors stay “visible” for BT connection only for a limited time (30 - 60 s), and if they are not connected they stop being visible.

@christian-schmitt I think there isn’t one. But you can choose the regular mode and edit the distance afterwards, right? I mean, distance = flow velocity* time. Sure, it may be annoying, but as a workaround…

there seems to be an issue when using HR belt in the water. But I’ve only tried once so far. @Piotr-Grygiel if OHR from the watch works for you, I would recommend using it over the more cumbersome HR belt unless there’s a specific reason why you choose to use the belt?

@brad_olwin true, but as I already mentioned, I don’t really have a fixed schedule. I might want to do a specific one today and another one in 10 days or so. It’s just whatever I feel like doing XD For the moment I found a loophole though: 3 intervals.icu workouts can be pinned at once and the fourth workout is the running drills which stays in the watch anyways. So I’m happy.

@skydancer Suunto is aware of this issue. It has been noted and I suspect a fix for this will come. ATM I would believe the watch.
