I had such a problem for the first time in June, after I bought in the mountains in the river. At first, he gave it to a third-party company for repair (since Suunto left Russia for political reasons). I fixed them, they worked until last week. I bought in the sea and again the same story as everyone above, a soft reset and they stop working.

I removed the back cover and found that if you turn off the loop button, the watch works great, it is worth connecting it slowly, so it becomes clear that the middle button works (as if you press it for a long time). That’s why no one can turn on the watch right away. In the case of fresh water, it seems to dry up and work, with salt water it is more difficult.

I’m thinking of getting to the buttons at all and cleaning them, seeing what the mechanism is. But I can’t pull the board out through the back cover. It feels like it’s out through the top. I’m afraid to make efforts, it’s still electronics.

Maybe someone knows how to disassemble the watch and take out the board?

I think it’s not a real problem the wind or the jacket if the sensor whole is stress free for the vertical specifically. Stress free = no sweat, water, or debris ie dirt etc inside the sensor.

i once submerged the watch into the river while hiking and changed the ancent by 1500Meters. it was exceptional for strava that i “managed” such a a fast ascent -descent

@lessthanmore Have you looked at something like this?

It’s a tiny dongle the size of the iPod Shuffle of old that can play Spotify and Amazon Music. Their spec says it should last up to 4-5 hours with Bluetooth, though in my experience it never lasted more than 2-3 hours. Still, enough for most long runs, not to mention regular runs.

Best of all – it works with any watch that you use 😁

Neither the Vertical nor the 9PP count steps if the watches are worn in a trouser pocket next to the pedometer.

A direct comparison is therefore not possible.

@Sezer-Yiğit It’s the same for daily use and sport activities: If you don’t raise your wrist, the screen is in a dimmed state (always on mode enabled) or completely off when always on mode is off. I was going to buy the Race after seeing the Amoled screen but re-reading your posts, I think your experience is the best advice about why to stick with Vertical. I think the SV it’s the best watch of the market at this moment.

In my case I bike and swim, but mostly run long distances. The SR is fine for even a 100 miler race but I think that the Race is specially good when you are only running.

Many people say that Amoled technology is here to let die MIP but I’m not that sure. That wrist gesture is not only to save battery but to prevent Amoled panels from burning in a short time. And there’s the thing that MIP is better in many situations when multisport or direct sunlight or even when Amoled can be dangeours because of the wrist gesture.

In the other hand the software of the SV still needs some fixes that the SR seems to have (sleep, naps, step counter). And both need at least the fixes about the multiple sensors of the same type, the wake up alarms for weekdays or improve the TBT notifications.

That is because I believe this is all based off or is still using the first beat algorithms - and for Garmin’s this is how it works - off your min sleeping HR- which Garmin refers to as you RHR.

I’m returning this strap. The quality is ok but there are many similar straps and a lot cheaper. They did not the same job as with the black one, which feels totally different

@jjpaz my comment was just to say that, while I do not know Suunto’s strategy nor I work there, I have seen the next testing firmware for S9PP, so I assume it will receive this update in the future.

Hola. Mi Vertical muestra la altitud con una gran precisión.
Sin embargo, cuando realizo una actividad, tanto los metros de ascenso como los de descenso, me muestran el doble aproximadamente.
Es decir, siguiendo una ruta que se tiene 800 m de desnivel total, el vertical me dice que he hecho 1600.

A alguien le ha sucedido esto?

@stromdiddily just tested opening my 100miler. 12s before map shows and then at 44s activity details are loaded

As you can see vo2 max varies and I’m not stucked. But as you can see too I have lower levels when there is much ascend. So this is something to think of.

did you read above potential explanation ? map orientation is based on compass when not moving under a specific speed (thus reacting quickly to you moving your wrist around) and map is pointing to movement(gps) direction above this speed --> map is only responsive following your movement direction and position change

Indeed. The Suunto maps are my favorite for trails in less dense, open spaces.
