Apologies for my initial reply to you @Daniel-Z , I misunderstood what you were trying to ask. Yep as per above, have a look on the back of the watch and it should say on the case (the writing around the OHR) if it’s solar or not. If it indeed is then you got pretty lucky, someone on the packing line obviously didn’t get their scheduled tea break and lost focus for a few minutes 🤣
Is there a possibility to disable the Vo2 max measuring in the hiking/walking sports mode? One alternative I considered is to hike e.g. in cycling mode and edit it back to hiking activity 😉
Hello,
I would like to know if what the above user wrote has been fixed (Suunto 9 Peak Pro too?) with the next update or if we still need the trick he suggests.
Thank you,
om
Not poking anyone and really not wanting to offend, but I see a number of these comments that ‘my Suunto is not the same as my…’ I work in the world of metrology, where nothing is ‘correct’ in absolute terms: i.e. everything has a level of permissible error. I have many conversations about this: just because you compare one thing with another, neither is necessarily ‘right.’ It’s a comparison between two devices. Arguably, the Suunto may be more accurate than the Garmin!
@BrunoH Denmark is flat, that’s not the topic. I run 3 times a week in mountainous regions. It’s about not knowing the surroundings and it would have been nice if I had all the paths on the Route on my watch.
For a week now, I’ve been tracking my naps during the day in addition to my nighttime sleep. The Vertical records the times without any problems and reliably.
There’s just one problem with it. The sleep times are added up on the Vertical, but not in the Suunto app. The HRV values are added up in the Suunto app, but not on the Vertical.
So I have different values in the watch and in the app that can never match.
@Philip Check the offline maps section in the Suunto App.
If updates are available they will be listed there.
If no updates listed, your maps are up to date.
André-Faria I am sure Suunto is trying but saying ‘if they are able to’ is rather defeatist. Hire the right people to push your software. And yes, I do want to believe what some testers are saying about how the new algos are working but the reality is my personal experience here matters and that will happen when there is an update. Let’s see!
@zhang965 I wonder if it would be better if you were to stop for a few seconds or change directions.
I think that there’s plenty of dead reckoning and other magic filtering going on in Sony’s GPS firmware. It seems to me that the firmware is somehow smoothing the direction error over time, which is apparent when moving constantly in non-ideal conditions (i.e. cycling in the forest).
Perhaps in your case, the signal was too weak and since you were constantly doing the same loop and turning in the same direction, the smoothing error was overlaid on each loop.
Don’t know if this come of any help, I had similar issue today - my Vertical went dark while charging and was completely unresponsive. Nothing worked until I started rubbing the charging sensors underneath for a few seconds and then suddenly watch started working again.
Curious if that was related or not 🤷
That’s what has me thinking there might be something up with mine. Folks are raving about the accuracy and if this was a common occurrence, someone else would have brought it up (5k, dc, etc)
I agree and would wait for the firmware update coming this fall. That will give you a good reboot as well. If this continues I would definitely contact support. I will look back through my files but I cannot remember an issue like this with my Vertical using either production firmware or newer FT firmware.
New firmware and after a factory reset for my battery drainage problem. Second run after all that and first at this location so basically the same symptoms as before w offset tracks 😞
I sent my logs to Suunto today. Not sure if I have a problem but with my experience I certainly would not describe the GPS accuracy as groundbreaking or phenomenal 😞
