@mff73 your investigation is nice! …I once saw a similar behavior of my watch. it seems to be a very rare bug and I did not dig deeper into it…

@freenico said in any more software updates on sight for spartan series?: i know that there is already a thread with a similar issue, but i was advised to open a new thread (rather than posting in the old one). Yes, that’s a forum auto reply, but we prefer to stick to the old post. Anyway, I’m closing this one to avoid duplicates, as the answer is the same atm, no update planned (but, who knows) maybe with the exception of some specific bug fix.

I have exactly the same experience as phasor. I bought my SSU in july 2017 and I use it intensively (3800 moves). The issues that occurs too often and impact negatively the experience (and the reliability and the trust I put in it) are : -HR problems, after 3 old Suunto strap it is better with the new version of chest strap (bought in march 2021) but it is not reliable enough. -Sometimes there is NO GPS fix during several hours with no trace after the move, or it intermittently displays the no GPS signal screen and the trace is unusable. This despite the GPS assist up to date with Suunto app sync. This problem occurs often since las spring. -Sometimes, when the watch memory is full of move it is unable to free some memory and the current move cannot be saved. Even after a night the wheel is still running and I have to push the upper right button 12s and the move is often lost with the reset. When the SSU memory is full of move, the saving time is very long and soon or later some move will be lost. The only solution I found is to reset the watch with Suuntolink and reinstall the latest firmware. This is flushing the internal memory. Then saving times are shorter again and no move is lost, until the watch will be full of move again. Without these issues, the SSU has all I need. It could be better of course but the main problem is that I cannot trust it. If the S9P is free of these problems and if Suunto is OK to make an interesting offer than I will continue with the brand because I like planning routes with the app and I am used to the Suunto ecosystem. The perfect watch for me would be a S9P sized one with a bigger screen, no HR/SPO2 sensor (more room for screen and battery), and with a feature like the Garmin climb pro.

@jom1104 I’m not sure. For example, I sleep very still, don’t turn, etc. I wouldn’t want the watch to stop measuring my HR in the night. Another example, suppose I’m writing with my right hand and the watch is on the left one, it might happen again that no HR is being measured. But yes, if you let your watch lie down for a few minutes, it goes into the sleep mode and won’t measure HR. The screen is turned off as well.

In general, I still have not seen any improvement in terms of awake time. I also observed a very strange behavior from the watch algorithm. I woke up around mid-night last night to go to rest room and woke up this morning to sync my watch. There were 15 steps logged by the watch at mid-night and the algorithm stopped logging my sleep. As a result in the morning, I only see 1:48h sleep time. I do not know how the steps are recognized and logged by the algorithm. I always wake up for restroom with same route from bedroom. Sometimes, it logged with steps (then watch stopped tracking/logging sleep data), sometimes it doesn’t (I have a full 8hrs sleep data logged). I don’t know why the sleep time is affected by the steps in this case. [image: 1639100511912-c4f1710e-afdf-4187-92bd-9ec9e087dbfb_1_201_a.jpeg]

@lord_ru_1979 Have you tried it on a different laptop? I have had issues with one of my PCs and found a different HW solved it.

@soojong-moon Honestly, I don’t know. Since I’ve learned that watch is supposed to show 16 closest POIs (or 16 whichever POIs), I always tried to keep the amount lower than 16. So when I move to the location where I need new POIs, I delete the “old ones” from my watch. I am for sure limited by this relatively low number, but at least my watch seems to be predictable now and all my POIs are shown correctly. I can test larger amount in different location during the weekend though

I have the same problem too. On custom made open water swimming, distance stays at 0meters ( with swim distance) . On basic mode works fine.

@aleksandra-czerepak Maybe, who knows Did you check if the activities (watch) shows graphs (hr, altitude etc) If graph are missing it means the watch miss the “complete” activity but has only a summary and it’s not sending it to the phone.

@eugene-benkovskiy Thank you for the additional comments. I also like the watch a lot - especially my STEEL variant… And yes, I also use and enjoy the watch a lot in combination with imported .gpx-tracks from komoot. Hiking is so much more relaxing, if you don’t have to get your phone out regularly to check the route! Best, Alexander
