@marvelmike said in [DONE] Selling S9 bought Garmin Fenix 5x: S9 is a complicated sports watch and a poor smart watch. I agree and disagree. As a sports watch it’s far less complicated than a Fenix as it does so much less (which is obviously both a good and bad thing and all depends on the user’s desires). I use mine for running and walking and it does everything I need without being overly complex or data heavy. There are some things that are standard on a Fenix that I wish it had, such as a gesture-based setting to turn the light on when you raise your wrist - the number of times I’ve tried to check my watch whilst running at night and pausing it or doing other things is a pain. On the other hand (and I know a number of users on here would disagree), I use my Suunto as my daily watch and I wish the smart features were cleverer. I would love more customisation on the watchfaces and complications; I would love to be able to see notifications but without having a preview of messages; I would love step tracking to be cleverer as it is on other watches etc etc. I would hope that whenever the Suunto 9 Gen 2 or Suunto 10 comes out it will fix many of these things - after all, despite the updates, the Suunto 9 is a few years old now.

@brad_olwin Hi, my last attempt last night was to pair the Wahoo Cadence pod as foot pod. It can be used as that and provide Cadence while running, no problem. Then I added the foot pod to the biking profile on the watch. Guess what? It didn’t work! Now I am at a loss about the internal data structure of the S9. How can a programmer in his right mind use two data fields for the the same data Cadence. [image: 1612686701325-20210207_092850.jpg] Regarding the proposal to buy a new integrated Speed and Cadence pod: they all use magnets again. That is so 80s. Just another example that Suunto have lost their edge by focusing on lifestyle watches. Without the reputation of the serious tool watches they will also loose the lifestyle game! Pitty. What happened in Finland?

@james-wylie I’m confident in saying you should be able to request a return via EBay, not only because the item isn’t as described, but you probably paid over the odds as a result. Certainly in the UK you’d be covered by law for having been missold something.

@tfm1973 I also add that wearing on right wrist you have the baro hole in the direction of the run (left side of the swatch), thus if you start sweating is easy that he flows in the hole…

@bktoo said in always altitude information in sports mode: @mff73 Thank you very much, I was not aware that there were several choices during the various activities. It helps a little, but I would have been very happy if I could always answer the question of height when I’m on a trip. be it skiing, running, cycling and everything else I do. It’s a little embarrassing and could not do it when wearing an expensive outdoor watch. You can always have altitude information! There are multiple examples where you now know this and many have answered you. You can also easily create your own sport modes. What is clear is that you do not like the implementation. You are welcome to suggest what you want implemented or vote for a suggestion. Since your question has been answered multiple times I am going to close this thread.

@fazel thank you for your feedback, mine arrived today. I have the idea to wear it on the same front arm as my watch so it should be perfect. At first i want a classic one but for hiking it should bored me with my backpack sternum strap. So i prefer this one and charge it by night at my base Camp.

@freeheeler Hello, I was on a tour today and the values were right (reset the clock to the factory settings), there was a deviation of 10m on the first summit, 1m on the second and 5m on the third !! Thank you for your support! Best regards, Rony

@stefan-kersting i didn’t know for about 1 year either… it’s like a hidden secret feature… unless it’s written in the manual… but who reads that anyway …@BKtoo …a lock button in watch mode? sounds like a nice idea

@bulkan said in Vo2 levels: The Garmin only takes in count the running (not trail running, hiking…) and cycling and ONLY with heart rate strap if I recall well. Running with HR (no belt necessary for what I remember), cycling with a power meter. And they end up in two separate VO2Max values, one for running and one for cycling.

@nick-gian hi welcome. It all depends on your metric setup. Of course, the calories burned are only an estimate. Tell us more. Was it too much or too few? Compared to what?

@tfm1973 anytime. Its hard sometimes as this is getting complex. Just a tip , perhaps you even did not notice. While the GPS is on only every 5mins the track uses fused track and makes that really good looking and has great stats.
