Agree on this one. The crashes should be Priority #1 to fix in any sports watch, that is the main task of a sport watch. (And it probably is prioritized at Suunto and other warch brands). After saying that, in reality is not a huge issue on the user end, watch restarts and one can start activity again. (Yes I know it is annoying to merge 2 fit files after that). But frustration level when that happens is through the roof and I think my mental state would be so much better if crashes would never happen P.s.: only had 2 crashes in my 8years with Suunto watches (1xVertical, 1xSuuntoRaceS)

I just bought a Suunto Race and I’m experiencing similar issues but pause, play and forward buttons work most of the time. The volume control never works… Shows the volume diagram but doesn’t respond to volume changes. I’m also noticed that there’s some clash between the new live tracking feature and the volume controls in general. I’m on an Oneplus Nord 4 with Android 15… Quite frustrating… And the old Polar pacer pro I had never had any issue with music controls with the same phone. In parallel when connected to the new live tracking app - with suunto plus - it happens that music controls are greyed out. Also cannot get my device ID to be identified in the live tracking portal…

@jschmidt as others said, sounds like the known issue related to power drops to 0 that’s is there in the last couple of software updates… Validate power avg values between Suunto app vs Stryd app specially for structured workouts. If there’s a big difference in watts in the manual laps, this confirms the known issue.

@Shlomo-Sackstein Hi, so did you do anything to the watch in the end? I have similar experience with my S9P recently. Basically at first it had the same symptoms as yours, 50%-60% then suddenly prompt for recharge. Then I tried to calibrate the charge calculation by discharging (painfully as it keeps shutting down under 50%) it to near 0% then recharging to full. The percentage during daily usage became more consistent from 99% to 10% however the actually battery capacity was still quite low, and was degrading quickly, maybe only 20% of the original capacity. The watch is being sent to support for checking. (More updates: Support replaced battery two days later)

Merci ! Björn

Hi all! My Android mobile phone can connect and be paired with my Suunto 5, but it keeps on pairing once both devices are connected. Obviously, no performance data is automatically synced. The app and softwares are updated. What might be the problem? Thanks!

Interesting take! A lightweight Suunto with Stryd support would be a game-changer for runners. I doubt they’ll add it, but if they did, I’d consider it too. The T6c was legendary—2000 miles is impressive!

@Honza we waited 2years for the “new” Maps and now some users Report that many Details are missing at some zoom Levels. Where track lines are complete away… And only colored sections we can see at the Maps… i cannot believe this.I am at the tyrolien alps in Austria next week. I will Report how the maps in the alps there work for now.

@maszop said in Software Update 2.43.8/.12 (2025 Q2): I think standard outdoor maps should have thin paths like these (like on regular maps). Unlike the current update, where paths in the city look like highways. Additionally there should be an additional version of the map (something like High Contrast), where everything would be much more clearly marked (something even excessively so), for those who need such a version. Here is the problem. Suunto Vertical has 240x240 resolution if I am not mistaken, so thin paths look generally OK. Suunto Race and Race S have much higher resolution, so thin paths are nearly invisible. I have very hard time seeing trails at a 500ft zoom level when running, even when using high contrast map theme. If I stop and steady the watch, it is easier, but borderline impossible while moving. The last zoom level where I can see trails well is 200ft, which is just 60 meters, which covers only 20-30 seconds of running. Something has to be done specifically for Suunto Race and Race S.

@isazi Thanks a lot. Yes it’s related to the incomplete recording matter. Once saved it shows the whole route but if you want while recording to check where you started it deletes the first bits. Quite harsh once on glaciers where you need to follow the exact route back and it does not appear. But I guess you got what the issue is related to. Thanks a lot

@halajos yes, I was talking about “complex” structured interval (as we cannot define multiple set of repetitions with the standard “interval” option in sport modes)

@mountainchris here’s one issue I can not explain… I’ve started at my doorstep with clearly wrong altitude and observed how fusedalti had corrected altitude after the first “hill”. the route should be 99.something% symmetrical but a alti drop happened 1/3rd way back and it remained wrongish. the graph itself does not look like the sensor was blocked. no up or down spikes. but the last bit on the way home has a different shape than the start that was corrected by fusedalti. it would be interesting how often fusedalti kicks in and if it also considers gps signal strength for accuracy? I think it does, because if gps height is several meters off, it would unnecessarily “correct” an almost correct value. [image: 1650992338451-b9f29c17-0b90-4170-b49e-93f5bec312b7-image.png]

Whatever happened to the Suunto 5 Peak? I installed this beta release long ago, and never received an official update? @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos do you perhaps know? Whenever I go into the watch updates in the app it tells me the update will be older than the current version.

Yesterday I swam 50 laps, so 1250 m, but Race S fw 2.39. 44 only recorded 1075 m. It lost 7 laps! The first 20 laps I did freestyle + backstroke and the last 30 only freestyle (see image below). At the end of every 25 m I pressed the down button to track the lap. [image: 1742726260383-a412a7b0-1d44-4c68-b08c-4c9beaf73e72-image.png] I did the same training as the previous week, see https://forum.suunto.com/post/163734 Please Suunto, it’s time to fix the incorrect distance estimation in swimming. People can buy Suunto because it’s very nice but if it doesn’t do the main job (recording the activity correctly), they will go and buy other sports watches. Thanks.

@cosmecosta right. Also I’ve noticed the bug on my watch after picking it up from shelf in the morning - not right after an activity or before. And I believe everything was OK day before. So it happened without any activity - perhaps it was trying to connect to phone (Android) or doing some background maintenance, no idea. I’ve also checked my diary - the oldest activity I can see is from April so it must be cyclic.
