Got suunto support update regarding this issue: “The discussion you found dates back to 2025, when a limited number of early units showed this behavior and were reported by some users online. Since then, this has been fully addressed, and current production models have gone through updated quality control processes”

@isazi Thanks a lot. Yes it’s related to the incomplete recording matter. Once saved it shows the whole route but if you want while recording to check where you started it deletes the first bits. Quite harsh once on glaciers where you need to follow the exact route back and it does not appear. But I guess you got what the issue is related to. Thanks a lot

Is the Race 1 still a good buy at the moment? I only do walking, gym and cycling. How does it perform with strength training?

@halajos yes, I was talking about “complex” structured interval (as we cannot define multiple set of repetitions with the standard “interval” option in sport modes)

@Brad_Olwin thanks this is helpful. its a bit hard to find some of the more elevation oriented information on a variety of devices online…not very many of the user guides or forums or reviews really address it specifically enough, though this one is probably by far the best and most thorough place!

@mountainchris here’s one issue I can not explain… I’ve started at my doorstep with clearly wrong altitude and observed how fusedalti had corrected altitude after the first “hill”. the route should be 99.something% symmetrical but a alti drop happened 1/3rd way back and it remained wrongish. the graph itself does not look like the sensor was blocked. no up or down spikes. but the last bit on the way home has a different shape than the start that was corrected by fusedalti. it would be interesting how often fusedalti kicks in and if it also considers gps signal strength for accuracy? It’s been a while since the last public release… and finally apple approved the v1.0.17 (google is still reviewing as usual) This is probably one of the biggest updates so far. So, most of you probably already tried that new features in testFlight, btw I want to highlight some of them (smth like release notes): Updated home screen The main page is now card-based, and cards can be rearranged however you like. Better UI performance overall Previously there were noticeable frame drops while moving around the map. Now it much smoother. Groups are now integrated directly into the home screen You can access group invite links right from the main page. Group members are now visible on the map in real time. Added PTT (Push-To-Talk) inside groups (Experimental feature) Basically a walkie-talkie mode between members of an active group. Added automation providers: n8n, Zapier and Make (you know, if you know) Currently available as community nodes or private integrations. They can work with checkpoints, session events, and even Suunto workouts. I’ll probably make a separate detailed post about this later. probably. Sensor Forwarding support (Experimental feature) The app can now be used not only for geo tracking, but also as a sensor forwarding bridge. You can connect sensors to your watch and forward the data through the app into platforms like Zwift or MyWhoosh or froward somewhere else, while still keeping your workout recorded in Suunto ecosystem. Cycling and running profiles are currently supported. Completely rewritten BTLE stack (the conflict with the Suunto App is still not solved because of… you know) So, next releas I probably going to finally focus on localization support as a most requested ‘feature’ in support. Also want to highlight some updates made to the web version: Support for 3D characters on the map You can now choose different character styles in your profile. Drone-like follow mode It’s mimic to drone style tracking camera, a bit… um… “cinematic” from my perspective. Your partner or followers can now see their own position relative to you directly on the map, including live distance and ruller between you. That’s probably it for now. @DRezvoff I don’t know why that is. If it’s spartan, I haven’t had any problems before. Plus it’s my main source of inspiration in my work.

Here’s what I’ve found works, most of the time: I’ve had 4 Sunnto 7’s as follows: Bought 1st in winter 2020 -> had to send for RMA/repair that first summer due to dead after swimming w it. Had altitude issues as described by many here. Replacement watch was fine for awhile, then eventually had altitude issues. Then IT bricked, and had to replace IT under warranty a 2nd time, the 2nd summer. Bought a 2ndary Suunto 7 so I wasnt without my watch/recording all summer for the 2nd summer in a row. Altitude was fine - but the replacement RMA came back too soon for it to start acting up. Now 6 months later, the altitude on the 4th watch (2nd RMA) is acting up for the 2nd time. A known 170m ascent loop read 390m yesterday… The 1st time a few months ago I cleaned it with the baby toothbrush. This time, I tried doing that 3-4 times and it didnt improve things. My test: watch is on window sill, good GPS, WILDLY jumping up and down in altitude while recording. ***Decided its probably a varying combo of moisture and/or dirt that can affect the baro hole. *** With that in mind, I put it in the fridge overnight, powered off, after thoroughly and gently cleaning the baro hole with baby toothbrush under running warm water. Now, watch has been on window sill for 30 mins with 0 ascent, 0 descent - which is night and day from yesterday’s tests which had ~100m up and down within 2 mins. RECOMMEND: clean baro hold gently with baby toothbrush whenever it starts acting up. If that doesnt fix your alti readings, leave overnight in fridge to wick moisture out.

If you want Bevel to access Suunto data Bevel needs to initiate this. Suunto has an API that Bevel can have access to. I do not know the limits on the API or what data streams Suunto allows access to. This is not something that Suunto would initiate from their end.

Whatever happened to the Suunto 5 Peak? I installed this beta release long ago, and never received an official update? @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos do you perhaps know? Whenever I go into the watch updates in the app it tells me the update will be older than the current version.

@HoBart don’t think so. There are quite some watch faces in the pipeline for Race/Vertical, but not these so far…
