@Ecki-D. the setting baro or GPS in the app is only used when recording an activity right with the app instead of a watch. The topic of this thread is simply a rendering one of the Suunto app. There currently is no setting to have the data plotted at an elevation above ground. And this is known to Suunto. The watches just use FusedAlti as desfibed above. No way to change this setting.

@RobinJ said in Suunto Race open water swimming GPS problem: Hi @Mechanicus, i experience the same openwater problems. I bought the Race late oktober 2024 and i was very happy with the Race as it was almost spot-on with the other watches in my group (mostly Garmin). A lot better than de S7 which i had before which always added an extra 10% on every swim. During wintertime we stayed in the pool (which is okay with the Race as long as you don’t stop during a lane) But…when we started outdoor swimming in the beginning of april 2025 all my results are terrible. On a 2K5 swim the watch added at least 500 meters. Last week my Race is exchanged for a new one because the screen was burnt-in after only 6 months in use (very disapointing, even de S7 was beter in that way) This morning (with the new watch) a 3K1 swim (all Garmins say) but Race made a “fantastic” 4K8 (!) out of it. ps this was in “endurance” mode, but all other swims in 2025 were in best possible mode You would allmost think has anyting to do with the latest fw update Hi, Can you share GPS tracks from your last swim? There shouldn’t be such differences! I have Suunto Vertival and recently I swam with friends: First swim OWS 1.3 km - SV1 watch + SV2 watch, difference in measurement about 30 meters. Second swim OWS 3.1 km - SV1 watch + SV2 watch + Garmin 955 F watch, difference in measurement about 40 meters. Software: 2.40.44 [image: 1749550012378-ows-suunto-vertical-1-3-km.jpg] [image: 1749550029384-ows-suunto-vertical-3-km.jpg]

After a night sleep I don’t get any resources filled out. I haved according to the watch 8.5 hours of sleep and I lost 1 % of resources during slepp, from what had remain from previous day. OK HRV was very low and I wake a few times, but still, lossing resources during sleep after staying in bead 8 hours?! OK, let’s say, maybe a medical condition, or yes stress, but even so daily I have inconsistent data and updates even in watch or app on Android regarding data of sleep, resources, efort estimation trend. I have the watch for almost 6 months, and it seems that Suunto it make codind test testing on the behalf and patience of the clients. Why to invest in to a team of code tesingt when the clients it doing so. Ok, I can understand that the data from field is more statistical good and reliable but the data server is on your side Suunto, and the software also on your side

@Kraisun-Tunta Yes, I would also love to get it. I think a lot of runners have injuries sooner or later. GTC helps a lot to monitor the recovery

I was looking for another solution and noticed that my Suunto app wasn’t up to date (I had 5.2.5 instead of 5.3.5). I updated it, and just a few minutes later, notifications started coming through again! Happy

@wakarimasen Yeah it is real. I have come off being healthy for a minute though and it is interesting how terrible Garmin is at tracking health metrics. I think that they work if you are living the healthy life and stay within the lines for the most part. Plus you have the endless drumbeat of the cult telling you everything else is garbage because it doesn’t have a flashlight or music. Two problems easily solved without paying over $1000 for a watch. I am much more in tune with my body and where I am at with training with Suunto. I think you will be too. This wakarimasu.

For what it’s worth, this is a follow-up to my comments 9 May 2025. After observing the same random spikes in HR measurements on a Garmin watch I thought I trusted as I saw on the Suunto Race, I anecdotally tested the Race again (very mildly). Basically it seems like the Garmin watch I used and the Race for me provide fairly similar HR measurements. If anything, the difference appears to be smoothing. I suppose Garmin might use a different algorithm to flatten the OHR measurement provided by the operating system, at least compared to the Suunto OHR measurement output. This is a total guess based on simple observation with no motion, periodically over a few days. I updated to the recent 2025Q1 firmware. Maybe that is a factor? Honestly I don’t recall why I thought the watch’s OHR measurement was “wrong generally 85% of the time” because it seems solid now – at least enough for me to be comfortable using it for guidance. Which is great, I really like the watch. Note I observed the same issue with a Coros Vertix 2S. In Coros documentation I found a reference to OHR measurement accuracy in relation to cold hands, as the blood flow changes under certain conditions and this can have an impact on OHR referencing. For the record, I live in Alaska and this is totally a plausible situation for me. It was the first I read about the idea, which makes sense. Just a thought.
