Hey on the topic of always on mode. It was added in some last update but not working as expected (or maybe I’m not setting this up right). So in cycling mode I have display setting in always on + 3 options: off, display only, full awake mode. Non of it allows to have maps screen always on when watch on handlebar. So it’s working on any other screen in cycling mode BUT not maps. Make no sense as you can’t use the function as it’s described so always on. Any plans to change it I next software update. I use my suunto race mounted on handlebar and it’s useless when I want to use maps for direction…

@superweeble True VO2 can be only measured in the lab. Watches, calculators and formulas only give rough estimates: so you can see the trend not the real value.

@far-blue said in Former Garmin user, looking for reassurance: But they are all Garmin’s way of viewing your data And besides that: If just one piece of Garmin‘s data collection does not work (e.g. sleep tracking) the whole ‚system‘ won’t tell you anything useful. While using a Garmin it almost always told me, that I should rest (mainly because my sleep was tracked completely wrong) - sometimes for days

I sent my watch back to Amazon to get a new one and I had exactly the same problem! And just in case, I haven’t updated the firmware. So the problem isn’t hardware. On the other hand, I tried using my company’s wifi network (fibre optic) and it worked !!! But at home it doesn’t work with any of my 2 separate wifi networks! I think there’s a problem in the watch on the software side to manage long downloads on certain wifi networks, something that makes the watch think that the network is no longer available even though it’s functional. That’s it for me, I’ll be loading my cards at the office…

I am comming back with some updates regarding sleep and VO2. During the sleep the VO2 value seems to be in to an acceptable range:94-100. Let’s say up to some point, accepting tolerance plus my body health. If I want, at request, to measure my blood Oxygen still is a totally mess. The measurement takes tens of seconds, most of the time, the value is far away from reality, like in between 72-85. Only after 2-3 measuremnts i get something close to reality, if I manage to make make 2-3 measurement. Why? Basically is trying to measure like 30 seconds and then the watch is saying unable to measure. I position the watch as mention in Suunto manual, also on top of my arm, also I have try under the arm, having an hairy arm. Some behavior. Also arm in different position and trying not to move. Even that is workin randomly, most of the time I cannot have 2 consecutive good measurement. How that during the sleep is working and at request not? The syncronization regarding watch and phone is working right now, at least up to now. Also the nap is summing during the day and I have a total slepp time for the entire day.

@Shuhite said in Suunto Race Display brightness in Performance Mode: @SuuntoR Sorry, you are correct. It dims, but in my case it’s still easily readible, unless I’m in bright sun (which is rare where I live this time of the year, I didn’t have Amoled in the summer). The Suunto Race AOD is proper AOD. …and I was also wrong. This “true always on display” seems only to work when it’s dark enough. I hadn’t ran in the day time until today. So it seems to use ambient sensor or something. In the day on workout mode, the display also on SR dims. But I think the numbers are clear also when it dims (where I live also not that sunny anymore) and little wrist turn works quickly. Its been couple of months since I had an amoled Garmin watch, so it was more sunny. But still I would say Garmin watches dim more than SR, or maybe I remember wrong and being too harsh on Garmin about this feature pictures with SR on full brightness and “dim mode” attached. @pilleus Cobi is quite outdated. In the Smart system, we have the flow app, which offers all the relevant metrics. However, it’s a completely different situation, and there’s a catch—the flow app tends to be quite taxing on the phone’s battery.

It being understood that everything can be improved, it is a good idea to inform yourself about what you are purchasing. For convenience, I also use the Suunto app for mac os. So there are alternatives.

Hello, I found a solution to return to normal regarding sleep tracking. My watch had the heart rate measurement that stopped during one night (for no reason) and therefore the sleep tracking did not work. I stopped/started the watch, the heart rate measurement resumed, but the sleep tracking still did not work. This lasted 3 days. Afterwards, I stopped/started the watch again then stopped/started the sleep tracking and on the start phase, I adjusted the related functions (sleep target duration, do not disturb duration, blood oxygen tracking on and HRV tracking on). Since then, sleep tracking has been working pretty well again. To be continued if this lasts over time. It remains to be understood why the Cardio measurement stopped during one night, which has happened twice since the last update.

@2b2bff This flip-flopping has been the case since Race S was introduced. Works on S, breaks on Race. Different hardware I suspect and the development team doesn’t have a good enough test harness for quality releases. EDIT: Downgrading to 2.37.48 tracks a whole nights sleep again.

@elbee said in Oura vs Race HRV - any experiences?: @hgavert said in Oura vs Race HRV - any experiences?: Hi! My Oura is dead. It has been really good in measuring the HRV How do you know hrv on the oura is very good? Do you have a comparison with something proven to be accurate? I recently ditched my forerunner 965 and bought a Suunto race s. The hrv between the 2 are different. The garmin produces way higher values than the race s. I would say, for my age, the race s produces vales that are expected, but unless I use some scientific/medical equipment there isn’t a way to say which device (garmin vs suunto in my case) is more accurate. For me, hrv is mostly as expected, lower the morning after an high intensity interval training or race, higher after a rest day. No suprises there. In 15 years use of sport watches I learned quite a lot is marketing bs. I got the Oura 2 maybe 5 years ago. The values that it gives - or trend if you like - correlate very well will training load and feeling. You can for example do a “meditation session” right after hard training and see how low the HRV is. (That basically means, to have a 15min nap doing breathing exercises.) Also, the nightly HRV is fully correlating with recovery. It just makes sense. Unlike the first beat algorithm used in Suunto resources - that really doesn’t correlate that well. Also, I do remember finding a study made in some university comparing Oura to clinical level gold standard (obviously don’t remember which device that was). Oura was pretty much right on. That was back then, 5 years ago. Can’t find it from Google now.

@Egika That is the one. Not sure the color change is a bug. A lot of other complications have lost color changes as well.
