I’am a Suunto Race user from germany and I can confirm that one of the last software updates also happened in the middle of the night and woke me up with a super bright display (like the flashlight app). After installing this update my watchface went back to its default settings, so that I had to reconfigure it again. I don’t know if there was a good reason for that or if it was a bug.

Debating between all black and Race S all black while I enjoy my SV Ti. It’s like I find the Race S a bit better but I know I’ll need a bigger format. Both watches have the same price these days here. Btw, I’m wearing now my old F6X Pro Sapphire Solar, that weights 82g with the 26mm strap (just to feel the weight). I had weared that watch for about 5 years, done many ultras and It still feels perfect. The Race weights 83g and it’s smaller than the F6X. Then I don’t like at all the Race Titanium model (Titanium does look very good in the SV though). Thinking in the everyday use, where you need to like the watch, I find steel the good choice.

@Sebastian-Wagner-0 you may want to contact support, I have not had this happen except once when the HR did not record even though it was set on. Are you getting HR recorded and just no HRV? I see yes, I would contact support,

The delivered with strap was quote stretchy and the buckly actually gave me a rash (especially when sweating/exercising). Recently i bought new strap for the suunto race s. It feels more rigid and i had the idea to do a test. This is on a gravel bike, low speed in the end is because of di2 battery that was giving up. Good: no cadence lockins, not bluntly not measuring Test: Race S wrist HR <–> Suunto belt + ios suunto app [image: 1747242264524-suunto-race-s-wrist-vs-chest.png]

I’m quite a fan of the Polar version, but I would buy a Suunto version immediately.

@logger i really don’t understand this. Having to turn off notifications every time you do an activity is just bad design. This is a super basic feature that every other watch company has. Suunto could probably implement it in a few hours as. I really don’t like notifications during activities. But I like them otherwise. And I don’t want to have to go back and forth all the time. It’s nothing like having to start an activity

@timecode said in Training readiness would be great for an upcoming update !: Training readiness is something nice to have, but do people actually follow what the app is telling them? I know how I feel when I wake up, for example today I am tired and fatigued, but the app is telling me I am almost at the peak of my recovery : ) I rather check my resting HR in the morning and maybe HRV, but I know my body and know when to push through and when to rest. For myself, I’m going to continue to check all the data I previous was: overall sleep time last night and sleep trend last few days, overnight HRV and HRV trend, overnight minimum heart rate and average heart rate, my “Resources” value, and my CTL ATL Form from Suunto, in addition to how I feel in terms of muscular strain, etc. This new Readiness number, at the moment, just adds a little bit, mostly a puzzle to determine how it is getting its value. If it had been a simple “ready, warning, stop” with no number, then I’d have nothing to analyze and could quickly check and leave it. Note I don’t think they should simplify it now that it’s in this form. I wouldn’t mind a more detailed explanation of how it is doing the math to come up with the score, so I don’t feel the urge to try to scrutinize it.

Sad. Unfortunately, this means bad “degradation” of the OLED. . Not true, the display only mode shifts pixels so that pixel burn in is at a minimum. Second, the display either turns oft or goes to minimum display, which shifts pixels when your wrist is down. @Brad_Olwin do I get it right, that pixel shifting is also applied on the exercise screens? Yes in watch mode but in exercise mode AOD is limited to prevent burn in. I do not use AOD as I do not need it and I do not bike ride much. Without AOD the display goes off during exercise and in watch mode.

@Brad_Olwin I dare to confirm, that the sleep tracking works with the nightly resting HR - third night with it is spot on again, so it seems to work fine for me. Also did a nap and the race got it tracked fine. Really great work

@mr-quality said in HRV: @cjanevate said in HRV: @szaboat74 Overnight HRV measurements for me are not optimal for many reasons, so I don’t trust these values at all (whatever the brand, of course). A parallel comparison with Garmin and Polar shows that the measurement of Suunto is wrong. The sensors of Suunto seems to be outdated. Mir zeigt meine Vertical auch ganz andere Werte an als mein Suunto Gurt per HRV App sowie eine medizinische Messung. Meine Vertical zeigt ca die Hälfte des Wertes den meine Suunto Gurt und der Arzt misst.

@Mff73 Yup, that’s for S9P, but @pilleus mentioned S9PP charger. I had most suunto watches (S3, S9B, S9P, S9PP, SR - missing SV and SO) so I don’t remember how charger for S9PP looked. My wife still uses my old S9P so I have both chargers (S9P and SR).

@isazi so I have my watch back from service (HSH service from Prague), they wrote me that they changed pressure sensor and gaskets and they did some tests, but when I received my Vertical and calibrate altitude my barometer has same error as before the repair. that is quite strange…

@Olaf-Gottschalk Hmm - I am pretty close to your use level (24/7 an d10-15 hours a week recording. With an earlier device I would have issues near specific locations - not so much GPS issues, but total connectivity - I think folks in those areas had cell phone/RF blockers (illegal, but it was an interesting part of LA) and sometimes those are around LE or Mil installations. Do you issues crop up around the same geog area? just a WAG from my own experiences.

Vertical, Race and Race S have slightly different antennas. Tests show, that the SNR is not consistently better of worse for one or the other model. As you can see from my above activities, I have never had any problem with all Suunto models and got perfect tracks and distances. It maybe is a personal swimming style issue as well… Next FW update will also contain GNSS improvements again - just for me myself there is not much to be improved
