@juhis70 wahouuu excellent !!! by the way it seems the population of IT guys having a Suunto is super big … many people who talk here are IT I started also in the 90th on windows 3.0, then 3.1 my nickname at that time was TRAP13 as I was the guy with the biggest number of core dump due memory faults due to C pointers which was causing the display of a trap 13 error … I promise I made a lot of progresses since then. Let’s talk a little bit … I love so much my Suunto 9 Baro !!! Some people may think I’m very criticizing Suunto but in fact I do all of this exactly for the reverse, it’s precisely because I like this watch and it has a huge potential that I love to suggest them some possible improvements. I’m not a runner, neither competitor but I’m a mountainer since now 40 years, leaving in Annecy in the Alps where I’m practicing mountain climbing and skiing (classical but also cross country ? ??) since that time. This is why all my posts are very oriented to mountain activities and thinking around them. What I like in this forum : it is one of the rare where all the people are exchanging ideas with a lot of good thinking and positive attitude and the moderators are replying a lot, challenging your ideas which is a very good sign that they are interested by what you may suggest. What I dream … one day to have a Suunto where the screen is fully occupiing all the size of the watch (there is 30% of space to win => see my post here : https://forum.suunto.com/post/88787) and which is very military oriented. Why military ??? Absolutelly not for the camo colors, I rather prefer the black but because when you think military, then you think super reliable, super efficient and super easy to use in hard conditions, easy read whatever condition you are, totally able to allow you to localise yourself on a map, allowing you to navigate even with no visibility, being able to be alerted on obstacles … etc etc … BE TACTICAL !!! I’m currently learning Angular, when I will be enough trained I will try to create a watchface demonstrator with all my ideas in which you may have the feeling to have a suunto and play with it … It will take some times, may be for no results as I’m not a Suunto leader … but may be it could federate the ideas of myultiple people and help the Suunto people for their future release Why I’m doing this … for free … for the pleasure of challenging myself … for the idea that tomorrow I will have even better

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos humm humm … it was not my problem. the situation was the following : on the beach, I checked the watch both my current position which I marked as a POI and the compass, all was OK I swim I swim I swim On the return when I was able to touch the sand, I press a long time on the central button and activate the navigation to the POI I recorded before What I observed then is the following the compass screen was here with a correct distance to my beach towel but the arrows both for north and target were almost at 180° when I moved my arm on the left or right the arrows were crasy (even not keeping the same direction but becomign a sort of erratic) when I was moving in the direction of my beach towel, the distance was correctly reduced, still the target arrow was almost on the opposite side. In such situation, there is no solution until and unless I stop the exercise – which I do not want – and at that time ask the recalibration of the watch PS : I agree that when I swim and the arm is below the water, then the watch cannot process anymore.

@hel790 said in ANGEL MODE... When your watch detect you are lost and are out of route: direct path back to route Hello hell790, direct path back to route was my very very fist idea when I wrote this post as I was like you thinking that it will allow me to retreive the road I put on Komoot. But … It is a FALSE GOOD idea. Why ? it is precisely in a direct pass that you risk to need a machete with you, nothing garantee you that this direct pass there is no jungle, no crocodile, or no crevasses or hard cliff. On purpose, when you enter into a “Angel mode” the idea is not to be driven by the noose by the watch and walk into a place that you may have no idea which difficulties you will face (remember you are lost) but in reverse to allow you to position your self very precisely. If you really walk in “engaged” situation you will bring with you an IGN Topo 25 map, so the top most important is to allow you to locate yourself. This is why having the directions to the 2 soles fix points that both you and the watch knows should be considered and they are the BEGIN and the END. There is another interest to show the BEGIN, it may happen (it was my case) that you are even not on the track straight from the beginning, so having the capacity to join the begining of your trip is not useless. The direct path back to route will never allow you to locate yourself on a map simply because this famous nearest point totally depends where you are, so it"s a moving target.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos Yes, I read it. I was desperate because after reinstalling my phone and the new Android11 system, I was not able to pair S9 with the phone. I thought the problem may be in the old version. Then I found out that I hadn’t removed the “old phone” from the watch … Is it possible to see the folders in the watch just like in my Garmin Edge 520?

@theguyfromthesummit yes, that’s how it works, just for a whole track. They also changed the pace limit from 8min50 to 12min30 so I think more people can use it now for pacing on ultras/trailrunning

I think it could be cool if this explanation of watch faces is present in the watch manual also.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I’ve noticed a pattern that might help resolve the issue if it is considered to be such: So, if I’m configuring my training but not yet started or am in a training and have paused an activity, that all whilst using route navigation with WP, I get notified one I’m in WP proximity or what the next one is. To summarize: if routes are in use, navigation notification appear no matter what.

@lobando said in Suunto 9 doesnt update: PC Could you please try this: Connect your watch to PC/Mac, open Suuntolink. Click upper right gear button, then click “WATCHES”, click “Reset all settings” and then “RESET WATCH”. Wait to see if this fixes your watch. If not, go to next steps to get some logs. Click upper right gear button, then click “DIAGNOSTICS” and “SEND LOGS TO SUUNTO”. For Windows, press win+r, input %appdata% then press enter,go to “Suuntolink” folder, find the latest zip file named suunto.xxxxxx.zip For macOS, open Finder, press command+shift+G, input ~/Library/Application Support/Suuntolink/ and click “Go”, find the latest zip file named suunto.xxxxxx.zip Upload the suunto.xxxxxx.zip file here please.

There must be an iffy batch out there. Before the S9B I own now (have had it for just over a year) I had three in a row with battery issues. My training partner also had two with battery issues, however he ended up jumping across to Garmin whereas I stuck with Suunto I was lucky enough to get a straight exchange for a new one from Suunto each time and I would hope that you could too

@mff73 thanks for your answer. I don’t remember to enable this option, and I can’t find a way to find this one in the sportmode options. Do you know where is it located exactly so I can check ? But the screen turn off as soon as I hit the button “start” and not after waiting 10sec.
