@pescacebesforum said in How consumers use to react to changes: 3.- Surprise: after the first contact with this technology, the user is surprised by its operation. The result obtained in your test is not expected. Ha-ha! I am at step #3, and my surprise was mostly about how backwards it is. I think the outrage comes mostly from the fact that many features are removed by the transition to the new technology. It is dumbed down and targets different kind of users. SA is slowly improving and some of the new features proposed in a recent survey are pretty good but the improvements are long overdue. Suunto shouldn’t had forced everyone on the new platform until it was more mature and at least had a feature parity with Movescount.

@silentvoyager said in I want to use Suunto app instead of Movescount but ...: @Brad_Olwin said in I want to use Suunto app instead of Movescount but ...: You can use SA and MC apps together, just make sure only one is running, the other cannot be running in the background. Honestly I don’t see a point of using two apps together. There are zero features in SA that I’d want that I don’t already get by syncing with Movescount. I guess the only reason for me to sync with SA would be to use mobile route editor, but that would disable Movescount sync, so no thanks! Here are the ones for me…Workout Planner as I have my workouts show up in the watch and occasionally I need waypoints. Once those are in SA I will be done with MC. I can get by w/o waypoints most of the time but not always. I use the workout planner a lot. Ahh, did not read carefully enough. The route planner and customization of sport modes for me in SA are worth it. Finally, completely offline syncing is worth it for me too. So I am on SA just waiting for the two features above to transfer and I am done with MC.

@marcosss well the point for me was, having a garmin a new firmware comes out. something gets fixed, something already worked before gets messed up. and again and again. for example navigation on the watch is not working now since february. but it worked before. so now your waiting for a fix since 4 and a half months. thats only an example.

@TELE-HO yes you’re right. my main reasons for this watch (and switching to suunto) has been (without special order): not made china, and that suunto i a european company. (i like that alot) the very good gps reception in worse conditions. fusedalti (it is soo awesome, not to recalibrate while doing longer sports) the battery life the simplicity of the OS. that there are no more softwareupdates, because there is no need for it. VO2max (i got used too train with it, it gives me a very good point, if i am improving, or should change somthing) every other watch will get old. this one (from an electronic standpoint) is already and can easy compete with the newest.

@Дмитрий-Резвов it worked for me partly, too… but all hikes are now just “trainings” and not hikes anymore…

@P3LLTI3R Ach, stimmt, bei den anderen Smartphones ging es ja nicht, hoffe du kannst sie jetzt besser testen. Auch wenn noch viel Arbeit in die App muss…

@silentvoyager said in Suunto, respect your most important stakeholder, your customers!: @Brad_Olwin said in Suunto, respect your most important stakeholder, your customers!: Have you used Suunto app? The last two are already im weplemented Nope. Heatmaps disappear in Suunto App once I zoom in closer than about 1 mile (1.6 km) across phone screen width. That isn’t good enough to plan routes on trails. And Ambit apps aren’t supported on the new platform or in any newer watches at all. On the first point, my heatmaps do not disappear on full zoom. I am on iOS. On the second point Ambit3 support is in early development. I would continue with MC until better A3 services are implemented.

@NeilPope Correct, the battery specific modes are optimized. In the custom battery mode you can set some of these parameters. Let me know if you need more information on that.

@Fiox89 Copyright reasons? One would think Suunto own their own copyrights. Or did they outsource the software development? This could explain the lack of interest in bug fixing.

Yes, this is absolutely essential!! I don’t get it why Suunto cannot offer a simple piece of offline SW that would transfer the date to/from the watch to start with? Or, better still, why they do not open the USB communication protocol for the Ambit so people could come up with their own code? What are they afraid off?

The moveslink also manage updates of satellite position data. Can I update satellite position data after 2020 for my Ambit 1?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I guess I am one of the Ambit 2 users that the Professor mentions. I do not follow the Suunto news that much and was only aware of these developments the e-mail sent out by Suunto end of April. My father was an avid Ambit user. Hiking, Climbing, Trekking, Running, Alpinism - Winter & Summer. After a while I got jealous and bought my Ambit 2 late 2014. The first Ambit 3 was already out by then, but as I didn’t need the wireless connectivity for tracking heart rate while swimming, or connectivity to a smart phone and was on a budget, I purchased the Ambit 2. It had everything I needed and still checks all the boxes today. For me it looked better than a Garmin or Polar, because I felt I could do more with it then just go running or cycling (for example by having the many different sport modes, which I could even customise). If I had to choose now, I would still choose it now: I do not need bluetooth, touch screen, color screen, … on my watch like the Suunto 9, Spartan, … So if movescount has to disappear, my vote goes to a platform that can be accessed on a pc, where I can upload data, download routes I create, create sport modes, … and connect with my cable. Any replacement should have the same capabilities as Movescount. But for me movescount is perfect, so in my opinion “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it”. What is the best way to follow the news on this subject and where can we show Suunto that we would not like movescount to disappear? Please forward my concerns.

I do not follow the Suunto news that much and was only aware of these developments the e-mail sent out by Suunto end of April. Very well put! I think now, I would still chose Ambit 3 over Spartan or Suunto 9: I do not need a colored touch screen on my watch that I take in to the outdoors, where it is likely to be bashed by rock and ice… And I can’t operate a touch screen with gloves… It had everything I needed and still checks all the boxes today. For me it looked better than a Garmin or Polar, because I felt I could do more with it then just go running or cycling (for example by having the many different sport modes, which I could even customise). So my vote goes to a platform that can be accessed on a pc, where I can upload data, download routes I create, create sport modes, … and connect with my cable. Any replacement should have the same capabilities as Movescount. But for me movescount is perfect, so in my opinion “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it”. I indeed also link through to Strava, where I have linked the Stravistics / Elevate app. As an engineer I have always been a freak for numbers and love the analysis I can do of my work-outs or outdoor trips in the mountains. What is the best way to follow the news on this subject and where can we show Suunto that we would not like movescount to disappear?

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I can’t even figure out how to set up (i.e. install) a single sport-mode, from SA, am I missing something? Say I want to add mountain-biking, to my watch, how do I do it? More importantly, how do I do it, say if I get a new phone/device, on 1/5/20? The GPS-granularity thing is a HUGE deal, for some of my sports, and I’m confident I’m not alone. If they’re not going to ever add ANY settings, for the Ambit3 family, why don’t they just admit it? If it’s just “the Ambit3 will have close to zero supported functionality”, can’t they just say that, so users can make informed decisions, going forward? It “seems” a bit like Suunto’s “April update” was mostly just “we see you’re commenting, we’re going to make it harder to install MC after 12/31/19 (a lot harder if you don’t know how to sideload), and maybe we’ll say something new, in May”? I’m really, really trying not to be just a “negative poster” here, but I’m looking for the “positives”, in the process here?
