What do you mean with “never worked”? They aren’t there at all? They are not what you expect?

@Tieutieu identical experiences - and opinions/assessments - of friends and myself about the unexplained and frustrating results of the ‘classification’ of runs (rides, walks etc work as usual). Extremely annoying, and creating quite strong reactions.

@SODIUM I absolutely don’t believe in such wrist watches for my real health monitoring, but when they claim and advertise based on such facilities, it should be close by, not a 15% difference and completely inaccurate. The tool I used to compare is the pocket tool from my expedition kit, which is widely used. Have a good weekend

@SamuelP thanks for checking and validating my observation. Good to know at least it’s not something specifically wrong with my watch or setup.

@isazi But why? I’m not convinced by such answers. What is a good reason to implement this way? This feature is still available on older products, even though they don’t have the powerful hardware that new watches have today. I don’t need many settings for daily activities, but when a customised option is offered, it should stay as I set it until I choose to change it. When I customise my outdoor activities, I want them to remain the way I configure them, not the way software engineers decide, which forces me to check every time. That isn’t true customisation. The bigger question is: why aren’t support agents giving a clear answer about this? When I asked, they told me, “You can’t change anything with the built-in outdoor activity; you must create your own workout, customise it, and save it.” Ok, I did that too, and that solution doesn’t work either. If Suunto is promoting a customised watch, then it should truly allow customisation that stays saved for the next activity until we, the users, decide otherwise. It shouldn’t automatically revert to standard settings, making us check and adjust everything back to our preference each time.

@Brad_Olwin OP is referring to intensity zones and the need to set it to the one needed every single time, it’s been forever like that on Suunto watches. What you gave can be an alternative using structured workout, but, not exactly the reported desired behavior.

@sang-shin-Lee Yes. Now more often then before I encounter black map situation. Also, more often changing route to another during activity fails.
