    @Olaf-Gottschalk well, I just did a quick experiment. Made a note of the current steps Started a cycling workout and paused it right away Walked around the house (counted approx. 60 steps) Stopped walking. Resumed the cycling workout and ended the workout right away. Checked the step counter The number of steps were exactly the same before and after the cycling workout. So I would say that steps are NOT counted during a paused cycling workout. (I also did another 60 step walk around the house without any workout activated just to be sure that these steps got properly counted. And they did.)

    @Iggge It may have something to do with the phone, mine is working, it needs to be enabled on the watch under the exercise menu. And depending on what type of phone you have settings there as well.

    @Highlands of course that would be much better, but I wanted to make this small improvement possible without asking for the “whole thing” Garmin has this function and honestly, it was one of the few things I really had to weigh into the decision to nevertheless buy Suunto…

    @Torium It had been solved, but you need to download the map again on the watch.

    @savvase I have noticed whilst testing new sports modes (on SR) that even with wrist HR turned off in the settings it still defaults to on if a HR belt isn’t detected quickly enough. Before starting the activity you can confirm which is in use by the icon at the top of the ‘start’ screen (heart with wings is HR belt or just heart for wrist HR), I haven’t found a way of confirming which is in use during an activity though… Maybe it lost connection to your Polar belt & started using wrist instead ?

    I would say to defend @Stefano-M64 its a good thing to wear, maybe not daily, but like he said, especially during mountain activities or something when its easy to hit watch . I got Vertical titanum with one small scratch after 0,5 year, and my PP9 Pro (steel version) edges lost black paint after few days only.

    @trubbio Why not use either Ultra or Tour mode? The watch will last a very long time. I am planning a 170k fast pack for 4-5 days and I won’t charge, Training mode with GPS 60h / 90h /140h / 500h (Steel Solar/Titanium Solar 85h / 140h / 280h / 30d)

    @Todd-Danielczyk said in Outdoor Adventures: @sartoric I lost some gear, a rain jacket and a car door interior to DEET. I strictly use stuff with permethrin now if I need to as it is much safer (both for gear and health). Smidge for me. Lovely stuff. (active ingredient is icaridin/picaridin).

    @dreamer_ I submitted a request to gain access to their smartwatch API. But it also seems that there is a non-zero probability that Suunto simply offer me to work for them

    I fixed the issue, a few issues actually, and I wanted to share how i did it. I have notifications disabled for all apps by default on my Android 14 Pixel phone. All I did was enable notifications on the Suunto app and now everything is working. So that begs the question, why is Bluetooth functionality mixed up with notifications on Suunto app?

    @Keep-It-Simple there’s nothing surrendered. Cloud storage is just the way this device works, as do many others. Get an older handheld GPS device if you don’t want cloud

    @Nicolas-AULANIER 16Gb is plenty for maps… My wife has the Race (Steel / 16Gb) and we have the same maps loaded (I have the Vertical Ti / 32Gb). Although map sizes are different for different counrties etc. To give you an idea of how much you can hold with 16Gb. ALL - ITALY ALL - CROATIA ALL - AUSTRIA ALL - SLOVENIA ALL - NEW ZEALAND UTMB SECTION - FRANCE UTMB SECTION - SWITZERLAND The app makes it easy to download and set maps as needed. I quite like the approach. And the app automatically highlights the map closest to you, so you can adjust on the fly. The watch internal memory specified is only used for maps, so you can be confident that even 16Gb has you covered for even the biggest adventures.

    @Jan-Suchánek I have small wrist too, 165mm, and coming from mechanical watches (daily was 39mm with 11mm) I thought I would find the Vertical too big for everyday use. It is bigger but really comfortable. I like how the Vertical wears.

    @vinc14 Hi is this really the case that firmware updates can be enforced? I generally run away from any tech that forces updates vs letting user decide - as this is great segway to planned obsolescence. Is there a repository of previous firmwares? Can you use the watch without app activation? I am getting my Race Titanium tomorrow and would like to avoid jumping into the bad formware straight away.
