      Here’s a quick question:
When doing my commute rides, I hate to have multiple short tracks (going there, going back) - and due to the lack of resuming a finished activity, I tend to keep the Race on pause when I do my stuff.

Now… As I want to reach my daily step goal as well… I wonder: are steps counted during the pause situation of an ongoing cycling activity or not?

      Thanks!

@Olaf-Gottschalk I can predict, that steps are calculated separately in the ‘background’, no matter activity is rtunning or not. Maybe i’m wrong, but it seems logical.

@ppresing I would not count on that as Suunto specifically states in the documentation that some Sport types like cycling or swimming do not count steps because it does not make sense.
That’s why I specifically asked for these sports in pause mode… 😉

@Olaf-Gottschalk you could experiment and let us know the outcome 😉

@Mads-Hintz-Madsen I was inclined to do so… But did not want to lose any step… 🤣
You will have to do a substantial amount of steps in a pause to really be sure to see it. Or maybe the value stays exactly like it is to the last digit…

@Olaf-Gottschalk well, I just did a quick experiment.

                1. Made a note of the current steps
                2. Started a cycling workout and paused it right away
                3. Walked around the house (counted approx. 60 steps)
                4. Stopped walking. Resumed the cycling workout and ended the workout right away.
                5. Checked the step counter

The number of steps were exactly the same before and after the cycling workout. So I would say that steps are NOT counted during a paused cycling workout.

(I also did another 60 step walk around the house without any workout activated just to be sure that these steps got properly counted. And they did.)
