@isazi I contacted Suunto support but I only received the meaningless answer that this might be an error and it has never happened before for anyone else So the usual unhelpful stuff you get from service…

@jmoneygrip I agree. I also found that the OHR is fairly accurate during activity. It is reasonably close ( at least during trail runs) to what I record on my chest HR monitor. I am satisfied from that standpoint. What annoys me are all the huge spikes in HR readings at rest and during the night. I do not probably meet the characteristics of the perfect target customer for the S9P; hence, I may care about wellness data from the watch ( and HR reading outside an activity or training) more than the average customer. However I still think this is an issue as these readings may affect sleeping scores and other metrics.

@stas-varazhbit said in Suunto 9 Peak heart rate plateau: My maximum heart rate after a running test is 208, so 210 is no surprise to me. 205 for me on FTP test, but some years ago I got 200 + (check here, with ambit 2 and suunto hr belt new at the time)

I had rain interact with my SSU touchscreen in earlier FW versions so I’m also glad it’s not always on.

@patrick-löffler Your point is well taken! I agree that a little bit more “wellness” data would be ideal -especially for those who are wearing the watch 24/7. Adding to your list, it would be nice to have data on sleep stages over the course of the night (REM, light, deep) and how they were distributed (S7 seems to have such a feature). Last, this might be marginally off-topic, I am wondering whether it would be technically possible to add an “assistance alert” feature. I see that SuuntoPlus has a “Safe” page; however, there is no way of triggering (from the watch) a pre-determined message (through the phone) asking for help at the coordinates displayed in the Safe Page. I have a similar function on a Garmin device and it is a peace of mind. I can see several situations in which one may be in need of help and either unable to reach his/her phone or unable to copy the coordinate; the feature might be useful (of course assuming phone and watch are connected and that your phone has coverage).

@herlas You are right. I tried the S9P again on the stationary bike. For me it depends a lot where the watch sits on my wrist. Further away from the joint leads to much better results! And back to the original thread title. Garmin cannot track V2O Max on tread mill runs. So for me another reason for Suunto.

@olymay Agreed, when using GMaps on watch much easier to start from phone as watch: limited travel options i.e. cannot set it to do public transport. If i remember correctly it is only walk, cycle or drive. the biggest issue is there is no search function, only a dropped pin option, so trying to find where you want to go is painful. Otherwise you basically get same features as what is on the phone, including map, turn by turn directions. So best option is to start it on the phone, which will then provide text direction notification on the watch, however when pressing on the notification it expands it and gives you the option of launching the watches GMaps app, which then loads in the full navigation (as per your phone) - or you can leave it as the text notifications…

@andré-faria thank you, I hopefully wont be in a position to replicate again for another 12months, I was doing some extent mapping via a hovercraft; therefore used Sailing as the activity and the activity in question was in excess of 5hrs, be a while before I’m doing that job again in those circumstances, I personally think the software / firmware side got into a tizz; this can happy to a lot of hardware that has firmware installed to control the hardware. As mentioned I will of course keep an eye on the situation and if I find the Bluetooth not appearing to broadcast again then I may get in touch with Support or just send it back (bought through amazon, so this is often easier than waiting on support.

Adding to it, FTP is not a static metric, if you train to improve fitness in running, you’ll most like raise your FTP up(ability to hold higher power during an hour) and the same applies for when you’re injured or stopped training for any reason, FTP will be decreased, this is not like HR threshold that stays pretty much the same for a long time.
