@Hekemon The 5 Peak uses GPS for altitude and will not be as accurate as a watch with a barometric sensor. Can you show or link to some of the examples that are a problem?

@dr-suunto If you are purchasing a belt, strongly consider the Suunto. The memory feature is more significant than you might think. If you temporarily lose connection between the watch and the belt it will fill those in when the exercise is finished. You can use the belt alone for sports where you may not want to wear the watch in the gym for example. Finally, the sensor on the belt is very small and the only one I can wear for long distance races without having chafing.

@Dave-Papadopolis said in Brand new: Sorry had been working alot lately and forgot to check. I contacted support which said wait for the battery to completely drain then try hooking it up again. Its been about 4 days now and its still doing the same thing. Hoping that the battery is going to drain completely soon so I can try it again If you can, turn on the GPS, that will drain the battery quickly

@Saketo-Nemo I guess it was me Finally, got the Vo2Max from my watch so let me summarize everything, so we can close this thread. When I got the watch, I set up every thing and Did a 15 minutes walk with HR and GPS as instructed (No Vo2) Did a 10K run on the 3rd day -> no Vo2 Did 10K walk and some other run every other day, all with HR and GPS During the time I tried soft reset, which did not help, also have done other activities do not calculate Vo2Max(rock climbing etc). So I factory reset it (about 3 weeks after I got the watch). Did a 5K run yesterday and a 3K walk Repeated the same 5K course today and finally got the fitness value on my watch. As a programmer and technical support person I would assume Something stuck before the factory reset or My personal data combine with data from my exercise pattern somehow out range the algorithm and did not trigger the calculation. Anyway, I finally got it and happy ending is it. Thank you all for the suggestion. Thread closed.

[image: 1616788901048-suunto-5.png] This is my battery life. HR 24/7 enabled, sleep tracking enabled, bluetooth notifications disabled, vibration disabled, tones in button off mode. I did use GPS for 10minutes. I had one indoor activity with HR for 20 minutes. Once per day i synchronised with suunto app. Every day a played with watch around 5-10 minutes. Backlight was off 99% of time. So it looks i was too rush. Battery drop was fast only above 80% of battery. At around 80% i did soft reset. Maybe it helped to stop rapid battery drain. I am very satisfied with result.

@sartoric Thanks for responding. As I’ve now managed to fix the problem with a hard reset of my watch, I won’t need to try the current beta. I’m wary of running a beta anyway as it’s likely to give problems with new or existing features.

The only suspicion I have is that it’s a HW issue. Perhaps the accelerometer is stuck or so.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thanks, I appreciate it. Btw. I’ve noticed that when using GPS + Galileo there are times when strange offset occurs and I’ve observed it with multiple workouts. With GPS + GLONASS path seems to drift due to typical GNSS error between readings and it looks pretty normal (the error is different every second and recorded path looks like a zigzag). But with Galileo this offset sometimes applies for quite some time ie. a km or more and it seems as if it was applied on one axis only. This may be related to issues described in this thread. Example below: [image: 1582537355398-screenshot_20200224-103946.png] Above: GPS + Galileo offset.

@The_77 The 9 and the 5 are poor for me for OHR but the 7 is amazing. I suspect future hardware from Suunto will be much better for OHR. Although the 5 is less bulky, for me the OHR on 5 and 9 are equivalently poor.

@zbyněk-volný one of the best things with navigation in Suunto is that it switches direction on the fly - if you decide to turn around or start from the end to start of the original route, the watch will automatically switch direction and guide you according to your decision. This seems obvious but it isn’t in other brands. Therefore it’s impossible to precompute turns as way points in SA. It would have to be implemented as a dynamic feature. Perhaps as S+ maybe?

@chrisa it’s more likely inertia of the watch, but I’m no expert.

I just finished a run prior to heavy rain, with a rather dense cloud cover and I had standby turned on. This is really fantastic for readability - it makes a huge difference between seeing sky reflected on the screen and the actual screen without too much brightness that would be typical with regular backlight. It’s perfect amount of backlight to amplify the contrast just a little bit to get the glare off the glass. I’d love to have standby easily accessible either by a shortcut or in workout settings but even now I see it’s worth digging through the settings to activate the standby light if the weather is poor.

Hello, Yes, floorball is included as a predefined sport mode but, unfortunately, futsal is not available by default. However, you can create a custom sport mode for futsal through the Suunto app, which will allow you to tailor the settings to your specific needs. @Chlastik said in Futsal - not existing as predefined sport?: Hello, I regularly play floorball and futsal (indoor football). I use floorball from predefined (basic) sports in my Suunto 5, but I can’t find and select futsal, only to add manual record. Did I miss something? I know I can create my own sport mode, only wonder why floorball is there (and it works fine) but no futsal. I tried to search around here but didn’t find any similar topic. Also always keeping my watch updated. Thanks,
