@Maryn I think that those shifts may be related to how the GPS chip is processing position using GNSS data and hand movement. Notice how offsets are often reset when you change direction.

@mff73 yes, I expected zero reading when off wrist. Edited: now it is confirmed that HR made some high readings when off wrist and thats reason for high calories and PTE.

Nah. Message (ie. notification from phone) resets the nag. I guess “it’s by design” then

@zvonejan said in Suunto 5: Not working; showing an arrow: First of all. I am not 25 old year dude, meaninng i have impaired vision, so I need glasses for small fonts on phone. Just wait, you all soon will be there also As an older user who approaches 50 I agree with every single of your points, but especially the small size of the screen which restricts the application features so much. I can’t use default fonts any more - too tiny for me. But when I switch my phone to large fonts I get this: [image: 1578173565804-screenshot_20200104-133101.png] And this: [image: 1578173587130-screenshot_20200104-133021-resized.png] In general the app looks really ugly and borderline unusable with large fonts because so much space is wasted, all margins are really wide, but at the same time there are overlaps in multiple places. Movescount mobile web page, looks so much more elegant and usable on mobile phone. I don’t even mention the regular web page which is light-years better than Suunto App will ever be. This whole story with abandoning Movescount makes me very sad. I’d switch to another brand but still don’t see a better alternative to Suunto. However, I am pretty sure, that once I’ll have to use SA as the only option I’ll hate it so much that that will force me to switch to something else.

@cosmecosta for sure. That’s the way. The thing is that logs are rotated every some hours. So the sooner after the issue appears the better. And yes preferably suunto link else via suunto app is also possible but then I need account emails etc. Suuntolink gives a log id that works better.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos just a friendly reminder that the issue still persists and is also a thing in S9PP.

@tomas5 it has been discussed and my self I do find it not expected as of behavior. Forward should confirm and back should cancel without applying. But the case is that if you notice that this is inconsistent in the watch ecosystem. Sometimes it works as expected and some options like you mention doesn’t . I pass this and raise it once more to the UX and team.

@isazi thank you. I’m happy that the report was useful! I’ll try the same settings next time without Burner and/or media controls.

@isazi Thanks ! By weird coincidence, I just got an update to the firmware. Maybe it took time to rollout to my part of the world ANyway, I’ll see how it goes

@epictetus did you sign out and in from SA again? clear cache and do all these tricks? if you have the possibility to try with another phone it would be good to check if you can exclude the phone as a potential issue. I honestly was not aware that SL does not sync activities

@łukasz-szmigiel said in Elevation without baro but with track navigation: @catoer-wibowo you can always try using second GNSS, like Beidou which can (but doesn’t have to) improve vertical accuracy. However with GPS based elevation, 30m error is pretty much normal. yes, I did use other GNSS. the basic is GPS and QZSS and currently I add Galileo because reading from some articles Galileo gives better accuracy compared to Glonass or Beidou. But it may work better in Europe ya? I dont know. Maybe I will just try the same track with different GNSS combination to see which one is closest to Strava. anyway thanks a lot for the inputs. I dont have to worry now…

@isazi I don’t know but on days like today it’s as good as sanely possible I guess: [image: 1626290775734-screenshot_20210714-212451.png] It’s funny because the more accurate GNSS systems get, the more sophisticated filtering systems will have to be to smooth out arms movement and other receiver related noise.

@david26 said in Suunto 5 new user experience: @david26 said in Suunto 5 new user experience: Lukasz Well, it did show something. The Runalyze import shows what appear to be correct ascent/descent values. The problem is therefore not with the watch itself but with the processing of the information to create the .fit file, which matches the sneaking suspicion I had. A Suunto background processing (it appears that the numbers are crunched outside the application itself) glitch. Thanks again, Lukasz. You are incorrect here. A GPS-based altimeter will not be all that accurate and Runalyze corrects elevation data (you can pick the elevation model you want) so you are observing corrected data as you do in Strava. It would be a lot less confrontational if you asked questions instead of always assuming the product and its implementation are substandard. The watch you have does not have a barometer and the altitude values it provides will be estimates at best. The watch will work better on longer, sustained climbs and poorly on small differences, especially rolling hills.
