@Jamie-BG Hi Jamie! It is all as you say correct. google fit is ok but it doesn’t have the power of suunto. Thanks for the clarification!

I’m closing this one as there are no “complex” training in S7 Suunto App nor in Suunto App (phone app) and the topic has been discussed several times (please, use search function for complex or structured interval) By the way in the S7 main page the main title say “SUUNTO 7 The Smartwatch for Sporty Life” so yes, it’s mainly a smartwatch

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos google fit does rely on watch GPS when available. was initially suprised when Brad says the suunto app on the watch doesn’t, but thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. Also now understand why the tracks are usually so good - no wifi making silly off course points which aren’t smoothed out.

@suuntoman I really hope Google gets their act together with google fit. It really is terrible in my opinion. Another weird one is if an app pushes an activity to google fit, then only that app can remove it. So if you have workouts from an app you no longer have installed, there is no way to remove that activity from google fit. I’m really glad the S7 syncs all the metrics to the Suunto app (steps, and soon sleep and hr). No need to have Google Fit on my phone anymore.

@mattyross As a general rule i find that in my normal/working day I do between 1000 to 1500 steps. Pushing a pram or anything else where you are holding your arm out will reduce your step count. i assume you have upated your profile in the suunto app on your watch, as that can also impact on calories and steps.

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos I’ll try a bit more just to be sure it’s not me, but find it very strange that it suddenly won’t find GPS. Is there any way to force install the latest update again to see if it was a faulty installation? Could it be water in the baro-holes making it act up? Seeing very strange altitudes. I get 3818 meters now when I’m at 215 meters. Don’t want to bother Suunto sending it in if it’s not a faulty watch

@suuntoman I read on the FB Suunto 7 group that someone with an charging issue that came after the update solved it by pressing the upper left button for 15 secs and then charge the watch from a PC USB port, e.i. a low power USB charger.

I am also one of the users that keeps the Gfit “auto-tracking” enabled. I find it pretty good and with no real negative impact. The battery is pretty good, steps are not exactly the same but so close to be irrelevant, and I’ve never experienced ( or noticed) a wrong tracking of an activity. The 15 mins delay is a good point, but I guess I don’t really care too much since the activity is “light”. At least for me, I keep the SA for all the “real” activity, and the fit more as an overall aggregator for all the tracked and non-activities and the smart scale measurements. After the significant improvement with the last update, I use the SA much much more, but I believe I will continue using both in the soon future.

@Kristoffer-Rehnstedt said in Problems with the android app: So i have problems with the android app. My watch connected to the wear os app and I get all notifications. But the Suunto app for android, I have re installed the app then conncet the watch. It works fine for One hour it to but the it says “not connected” trying to connect. Unless a “forget the watch” it Will not connect. Amy suggestions? Here are some suggestions for troubleshooting the Suunto app not connecting to your watch on Android: Make sure that both your watch and phone have Bluetooth turned on and are within range of each other. Restart your watch and phone. Unpair your watch from your phone and then pair it again. Check for updates to the Suunto app and your watch’s firmware. Try connecting your watch to the Suunto app on another phone. Try connecting your watch to the Suunto app using a different Wi-Fi network. Clear the cache and data for the Suunto app.

@egika very good point - should have added that. And completely agree with you that certain activities shouldn’t generate steps. @Marco-G --> I think you will find that what Egika has said is correct, and that is the way it should be. You might find that any indoor activity doesn’t include steps, as would only be able to count them via movement sensors, which is unlikely to be accurate, however if outdoors, then yes activities like that may count steps. But yes agree water sports, cycling i.e. activities where you aren’t actually making steps shouldn’t count towards steps. ps - Garmin does the same - missed my step target on days I went cycling and swiming as neither days kms counted towards steps (and correctly so).

@nigel-taylor-0 non baro watches draw altitude data from GPS and not from SA (sadly as small hills barely get recognized). You might be referring to s3 which completely relies on phone’s GPS. But I’m not sure whether s3 gets altitude data at all? I think altitude corrections might come eventually as there were a lot of requests. We just have to wait!

@dimitrios-kanellopoulos cool, cheers. I’ll keep an eye on it as the day progresses. It hasn’t adapted as yet (roughly three hours later). It might get a bit confused soon though, as I’m about to watch more rugby (Eng vs USA) which will involve a couple of beers. After that I will be watching the F1. So I will be going from very excitable to probably snoozing on the sofa!

@gilbert-khayat there is a nice one in „lifesum“ (Google Play Store) which runs on the S7. It’s mainly a diet tracker program and quite expensive but perhaps it’s what you’re looking for!?

I have the opposite impression: I never used a screen protector on my watches or mobiles. When I bought the S7 I was afraid of that and now that I have had it for about 10 months and I have had multiple falls while riding my MTB, also fall on inline skate, or hit an obstacle and nothing. But I know it is a matter of luck and how it impacts, because sometimes a small impact breaks the screen completely. Always I think that some scratches are a sign of good use and good adventures, It is like a cookbook without food stains…

@brad_olwin Hi, I think so. I bought the watch last april and updated it. I have sleep tracking, body power and everything. And I’d had 6 tiles on my watch before I deleted one. And then, suddenly, I wasn’t able to add it back. Neither from the watch nor from the phone. Restart helped though.

@chris-van-sickle could be an issue with the last wear os update, as it seems as though more than just the Suunto is having this issue.

I use the alarm on my (Android) phone which in turn send the alarm to my watch. Even in Cinema mode it is possible to silence/snooze the alarm. It is a slight faff to do so, but it is possible. There was mention on this forum of an app that allows you to schedule the turn on and off of Cinema mode, so maybe you could use that to turn Cinema mode off a few minutes before your alarm goes off? In theory that should work?
