@aleksander-h This is so obvious and must be so easy. The 100metre (bearing in mind its as the crow flies, but could actually be a lot further if you take the wrong fork and gradually pull away from the route)…seems probably spot on for cycling. 50metres is probably about right in most circumstances for running. and 25metres off course as crow flies would be good for walking. Or IDEALLY, totally configurable.

@jamie-bg said in Suunto 7: I really don’t think you can go wrong these days no matter which fitness platform you use Wow, impressive review, thanks for that! I wrote a long post about my own odyssey through the Smartwatch jungle but I found, that I got lost in all the features and I could not find the ideal watch. For me Suunto has some „sophisticated simplicity“ which makes me feel „home“. It does want I need and I can trust the data (besides Resources atm ). The only other brand I really trust like that and that has the same “magic” for me is Polar and I still have my trusted Vantage M which I use from time to time. My son owns and is a great fan of Apple Watches and I can use one whenever I like. The battery is just too weak for me using it as a sportswatch, but the sensors are really great and HR and other data from it is impressively correct and trustworthy.

@Lluís-Gou - you should get longer than that - were you using fused GPS - and or were you using maps?

Here’s what I’ve found works, most of the time: I’ve had 4 Sunnto 7’s as follows: Bought 1st in winter 2020 -> had to send for RMA/repair that first summer due to dead after swimming w it. Had altitude issues as described by many here. Replacement watch was fine for awhile, then eventually had altitude issues. Then IT bricked, and had to replace IT under warranty a 2nd time, the 2nd summer. Bought a 2ndary Suunto 7 so I wasnt without my watch/recording all summer for the 2nd summer in a row. Altitude was fine - but the replacement RMA came back too soon for it to start acting up. Now 6 months later, the altitude on the 4th watch (2nd RMA) is acting up for the 2nd time. A known 170m ascent loop read 390m yesterday… The 1st time a few months ago I cleaned it with the baby toothbrush. This time, I tried doing that 3-4 times and it didnt improve things. My test: watch is on window sill, good GPS, WILDLY jumping up and down in altitude while recording. ***Decided its probably a varying combo of moisture and/or dirt that can affect the baro hole. *** With that in mind, I put it in the fridge overnight, powered off, after thoroughly and gently cleaning the baro hole with baby toothbrush under running warm water. Now, watch has been on window sill for 30 mins with 0 ascent, 0 descent - which is night and day from yesterday’s tests which had ~100m up and down within 2 mins. RECOMMEND: clean baro hold gently with baby toothbrush whenever it starts acting up. If that doesnt fix your alti readings, leave overnight in fridge to wick moisture out.

@pilleus said in Sunnto 7 Sensor Support: I moved from S7 back to SSU. Because I like WearOS too, I have a Oppo Watch (46 mm) to gather heart rate, steps (natively in Google Fit, the health app of Oppo is deactivated by ADB) and show notifications during the day. S7 without sensor support is not suitable for cycling (mounted on the handle bar there is no heart rate and no data from the power meter) and not for kayaking (on the wrist no option to read the data, on the deck no heart rate). I have been trying to use Suunto 7 for cycling, but after 2 weeks I have already given up. Sensor support works only via 3rd party apps, so at the end of the ride I have data in two separate recordings that cannot be merged / analysed correctly. I cannot even connect Suunto’s own product - Suunto Bike Sensor. Handlebar mount without external sensor does not make any sense either - no heart rate. In short - if you are after a watch to replace your biking computer just look somewhere else (unless Suunto comes up with an update).

@jamie-bg said in S7 roadmap: what are Suunto plans here?: @nigel-taylor-0 - to get back from ambient screen you would need to press button, as you only have power save tilt on, so will only show you ambient screen when you tilt your wrist I know I need to press a button to get from the ambient low-power screen to ‘fully active’ - that works fine and is just how I want it. I’m only using a Suunto face, so thats fine…and the tilt in NORMAL circumstances is so good that its fine for me to have a blank screen, which shows time only when I move arm to look at it. I find the display too bright and distracting at night time to leave AOD on. What I’m saying is, in the night (or also seemingly under sleeves) - the tilt gesture itself often doesn’t work so I just have a BLANK screen no matter how much tilting I do. Its almost like there’s a proximity sensor which decides that if the watch is covered then power tilt to get to the ambient ‘time only’ display shouldn’t happen.

Great analyses. Today, Fossil announced they would not make any more Wear OS watches and planned to exit the market immediately. The last Fossil Wear OS watch was released in 2021. Google made a poor decision by forcing Wear 3.0 to be a Google and Samsung hardware duopoly

I guess with arrival of PXDZ.201119.005.A1 this one should be closed, it’s fixed P.S. And thanks for all who contributed to the subject, I believe it helped solving the issue and workaround was really helpful in the meantime

@olymay said in is a system update coming ?: Now the weather is closing in (here in the UK) I will soon be running more with long sleeves and jackets. I’d completely forgotten about this problem . I’ll probably be using my SSU for skiing.

@hqvkamil You need to have the lastest firmware installed. You can longpress (2s) the watch face to change to the watch face selection mode on your S7, also you can change from the WearOS app. [image: 1621780485233-watch-face.jpg]

@sky-runner said in Silence of Mind...: @nigel-taylor-0 said in Silence of Mind...: THREE notifications for every turn! I agree. I get incredibly annoyed by notifications too. They distract me. I much more prefer to have a permanently visible next turn arrow at the bottom of navigation screen. Then I can just glance at it from time to time and be aware of when my next turn is. That is possible with a Garmin watch where it displays next turn at the bottom of map and all notifications can be individually configured. Oh, I prefer notifications - but just one per notification please! Although - I do like the idea of a stat that is “distance to next RoutePoint” that I could choose to put as a data item on a screen.
