Thanks for the replies folks. I actually did a full u turn a bought something completely different. I went into Go outdoors and came out with an Ambit3 Peak… After owning a couple of Garmin watches with power hungry displays with all the bells and whistles, I thought id have a look at going back to raw basics with a solid tried and tested watch that focuses solely on the outdoors with a solid construction and decent battery life. I bought it thinking that I could take it back within 28 days so could get a refund if I didn’t like it. After having a play for a few days I absolutely love it! It feels solid and more of a proper rugged abusable trail watch rather than a smart activity tracker watch. I can just leave it on with no concern about the battery and it does everything I need. Ive now realised the features that the ambit doesn’t have from my last garmin were actually a little gimmicky(to me anyway)…………. the weather forecast was never accurate, 24/7 HR was was absolutely no use to me whatsoever (so therefore wrist hr was pointless) and I never really bothered with the daily tracking features like steps, floors, sleep etc. Thanks again for the replies and if anyone has an ambit3,i’ll no doubt speak to you in that forum. @giulio I have an iPhone and my carrier allows tethering. I am able to download maps using my iPhone as a hotspot. It is much slower than downloading from a fast WiFi. It is possible that your phone will terminate the connection after some time or if the phone does not remain on the connection terminates. Mine requires 15 min to 20 min to download the maps.

@macdav said in Button shortcuts: Yes. And when I train golf and have no activity started, it activate some app. Which is anoying. At this time, you can only change it to another, hopefully less annoying app. Hardware button customization, under settings, will only allow you to select an app. You can, however, install an app that let’s you customize buttons actions in-app, like Sporty Go, and assign unused buttons to nothing.

@Storz just press/touch the center of the map and it will center on your location.

@macdav said in Suunto 7 and golf: After 4 hours the battery went from 94% to 20% My result is another one. When my activity is finished it’s no difference if there are 20 or 50 percents left. And there are third party apps which are consuming a lot of battery life.

@Yak-Ima said in Another review, this is from Correr una maraton: Why do you guys think there is such difference in how ohr is working for different reviewers? This one it seems to be spot on, and the previous one I read (DCR and The5k) were much worse. The only thing @the5krunner had about OHR was initial notes on accuracy, and it was rather neutral to positive if you ask me. The DCR was just a hit job, clear and simple. As stated, to come to the market without route navigation is something that I can’t understand at all, it blows my mind… Honestly, I don’t quite get that fixation with route guidance. For one, the watch is clearly targeting laymen fitness crowd jogging in a park, not an Ironman athletes on some technical trails. Kind of hard to get lost in the park! Second, it’s a smartwatch and you do have an app for that! Multiple actually… Third, the watch does come with maps and breadcrumb path, so should you get lost in a said park, you can still navigate back to your nice little Tesla Model 3 and drive to a nearest Starbucks for an energizing grande soy latte or whatever… Last but not least… Polar Vantage upon release didn’t have navigation for months, if not a year, and it was buggy as hell immediately afterwards (crashing the said watch). Now, Vantage is a dedicated pro watch per marketing. Not a smartwatch by any stretch of imagination. Also, I started to use the always on display (I never used it as I though it was going to burn the battery down) and it’s true, I don’t see much of a difference in battery life. Yeah, bless the ambient display on Android! Somehow our well informed DCR totally missed the fact that the big feature of Apple Watch 5 had been available on Android watches for a while now. Both for watch face, and the apps. Makes you wonder what else the guy is missing…

@Brad_Olwin thank you…I’m looking forward to your report. It becomes problematic when e.g. on a long bike tour does not start with 100%.I find it a little annoying to always keep an eye on the battery consumption… Well, let’s get some experience now… Still a very nice watch.
