@maszop garmin has a special AR mode, that allows recording but not much else. and basically it shows a time stamp since when this mode was enabled uninterruptedly. So it can be checked easily after the race.

Hi to all, sorry for late answer. We tested watch intensively. Did not done upgrade on version 2.40.38, still on version 2.39.44. Everything working on version 2.39.44. If you have issue try to downgrade to previous version software. BR

@leonidas I feel you as I’m currently have both Garmin and Suunto… But so is the way with software: it never is bug free. There are ways to avoid bugs or the reappearance of them, like test driven development. But unless you have a simple app, you cannot test all combinations of installations and settings or use cases someone might have. And TBF the accent color of a hand is not a major bug…

@tomclownfisch I also noticed these problems. you’d think interval displays would be a core part of a running watch, but not with the race s. there’s also no pace ahead/behind alerts, interval countdowns, next interval(s) details. it’s a much worse experience than the cheapest garmin from ~10 years ago, and i found it impossible to train with. after seeing other complaints about this in suunto going back years, i returned the watch. i hope you have better luck!

Adding recent news to my own question: Garmin recently released their X50i dive computer. A Garmin exec confirmed that they are leaving the watch-sized dive computer market and will only focus on full size dive computers going forward. Perhaps Apple Watch Ultra is a really hard to beat in the wrist-sized computer market. I wonder if Sunnto is working on an answer to the X50i.

I’ve just taken delivery of a Race with a custom Canyon Orange strap, so hopefully the lack of negative responses into this thread are proof that I’ve done the right thing!

@aqua86 “Thanks for contacting suunto customer support. I trust this message finds you well. I am sorry to say this but it might have lost all your data.” Took only 3,5 months to come to this conclusion… :0(

@Mika-Hirvaskari said in Suunto 7 lose credit cards & information added to Google Pay: Anyone else having problems with Suunto 7 and Google Pay in a way that the cards added to Google Pay just stop showing in a watch (says some error message about the lost connection and asking to login to Gmail) and could not be used or added again before making a reboot to factory settings and doing all the steps in setup including adding card information and calling a bank to accept the verification request? This started when receiving new credit card and adding it to Google Pay. It worked fine for some time eventually ending to mentioned error message, when trying to use it. Makes me appreciate payment services that just work without all these headaches. Been checking out PayKassma, and they seem to have a solid, hassle-free approach to online payments. Worth a look: [link removed] I ran into the exact same issue not too long ago! Thought my Suunto 7 just decided to retire early. Turns out, the problem was with Google Pay struggling to sync properly after adding a new card. What worked for me was removing the card from Google Pay on my phone first, then restarting both the watch and the phone. After that, I readded the card on my phone, made sure it was verified, and only then tried adding it to the watch again. No factory reset needed, thankfully!

@Stavrogin Well… After two weeks and trying to test things as methodically as possible, my conclusions are the same: when I fall asleep with the watch face upside down, the sleep reading is accurate with respect to the time I fall asleep. Regarding the time I wake up, it’s more variable, although generally quite accurate, in my case. Last night, with the watch updated to version 2.40.38, I tried wearing it on my usual arm, the one that doesn’t leave the watch face down when I fall asleep. Last night, I was especially tired. So much so that I was falling asleep on the couch. I went to bed at 11 PM and I’m pretty sure I fell asleep in 5 minutes. And I got up at 7:30 AM with the alarm. However, in the morning, the log said I fell asleep at 2:46 AM and woke up at 6:48 AM. Sigh… I totally agree with you. It’s frustrating to think that something that wasn’t working before is finally going to work, and it’s still the same… Personally, I’m more disappointed with the swimming measurement, but the feeling is the same. Anyway, it’s only been one night with the new FW, so I’ll keep trying things out. Personally, I don’t care much about what the watch says; I’m not a good sleeper, and this “research” is serving me as motivation to be more aware of what time I go to bed and whether I’m already later than I should be.

You can turn this off in the workout settings. Even if you have that turned on and it asks you for the feeling, you dont have to choose any feeling. Just click the middle button without scrolling down to a feeling you dont have to wait for it to disappear.

@ChrisA I think for a generation of Whoop/Garmin/Oura kids who cannot remember a time when the only running watch was a timex ironman this can probably be very frustrating. We have so many people now that rely on their watches to tell them what to feel or think about a workout. I think it is super important for any athlete to not rely on algorithms and upsold company metrics to tell you how a run went. The magic of Suunto and the runners that it sponsors like Courtney Dauwalter is that they will not promise you gimmicks like body battery and stress scores. They will tell you to learn how to listen to your body as you start to build fitness. They will tell you to check in with your body daily to determine how you feel rather that look at a smartphone app. RPE mixed with heart rate tracking can be a huge part of learning how to train. Zone Sense helps me confirm that information. But it is not a magic button and it does take some savvy and dare I say research (ie reading what kind of workout it is actually for) to understand what it is that it is tell you. One example I have is I did a long intervals session where I thought the RPE was 9-10. The intervals were long enough to register with zonesense and how I interpreted the information was maybe I could have done a bit more.
