For me, the sleep data recording isn’t working reliably either. For whatever reason, my bedtime is set and I wear the watch normally. I wish there was a way to at least manually correct this, because the entire recovery calculation isn’t accurate. I hope for a function in the app to add the missing sleep manually: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/13267/add-sleep-manually

@BrunoH thanks for your replay and I guess you are right. I’ll just have to wait for the successor of the vertical come. Thanks.

@sky-runner said in Auto-detected lactate threshold is horribly wrong: So clearly at least something isn’t right No, it is an obvious bug somewhere, but not something I’ve encountered with my Race S and the Android version of the Suunto app. Here is the latest aerobic number: [image: 1751778407701-1000008243.jpg] [image: 1751778439457-1000008245.jpg] And the whole week has been spot on, reflecting coming back after a small injury, with dropping aerobic conditioning and a few days of unbearable temperatures followed by rainy ones. Trying to do ‘easy’ trail runs of around one hour (except the last one which was a village run of 32 minutes): “Measured” “Aerobic threshold” 140 bpm 20.1C–20.9C ZS Green 67% Yellow 33% 146 bpm 26.4C–28.6C ZS Green 74% Yellow 26% 144 bpm 16.1C–16.0C ZS Green 81% Yellow 19% 141 bpm 14.9C–14.7C ZS Green 86% Yellow 14% By the way, at least with the Race S there is no need to activate the S+ ZoneSense app in the watch. Everything is native as long as a HR strap is in use. The app only gives a nice graphical view of the effort level.

@benille You’d have to find the older firmware version. You could try to ask for a link and instructions in https://forum.suunto.com/topic/6836/firmware-collection

@maszop so can a shortcut be added to the right side of the watch’s home screen? (we can add widgets to the left side)

I’ve done some more tests recently. It’s possible to add a completely newly designed or imported to SuuntoApp route to the watch during an activity. It doesn’t have to be saved in SuuntoApp beforehand. There are some problems with synchronization during an activity, but it works eventually. However, there’s a rather annoying bug when changing the route during an activity. During an ascent or descent, you can’t change it on the fly - there’s some conflict with Climb Guidance (black screen with X symbol on the watch). To get around this, you have to completely disable the current route (Breadcrumb option) and only then load a new route. I hope this gets fixed because I usually don’t have time to mess around in the field with such non-intuitive route changes.

@Alastair-Padgett said in Newbie ,happy to get any kind of help, advice or guidance : I hope you’re enjoying your new watch. Not sure what you mean with this statement: So with the intro in mind let me ask a few questions ,seemingly everyone is having issues with compatibility with MAC OSX ,and the two current software patches to allow updates and laptop based training work ? Can you explain how did you came to the conclusion that everyone has issues with MacOS compability? You should pair the watch with the either app on iOS or Android. I am also not aware of any laptop based training. I would also advise to read through the manual as a first step: https://ns.suunto.com/Manuals/Suunto_Vertical/Userguides//Suunto_Vertical_UserGuide_EN.pdf

@deliu-b I work 4 days a week. I cannot set a reoccurring alarm for 4 days. I cannot set a reoccurring alarm for every saterday (to go to parkrun) I cannot set vibrating alarms in watch mode and beeps and vibrating in sport mode. I cannot choose which datafields to show on the lap screen. In navigation mode, after a tbt alert, the watch now shows distance to the finish and used to be distance to next turn. I don’t mind they changing things, but make it optional. I cannot set gps accuracy on lower setting without also disabling maps. To name a few configuration options that are missing.

@ElectronBadger My impression after a week: the strap is superb. I really like how breathable it is compared with the silicon strap. For washing the strap, I prefer detaching it from the watch. It takes a moment and is a bit more cumbersome than cleaning the silicon one. For heavy adventure/winter trekking I would take the silicon one, for everything else, especially running, the textile strap wins hands down. Both are great for different purposes.

@Egika hey, I didn’t try. The sensor is correctly calibrated to the wheel size. If it was a calibration issue, the speed would be consistently wrong, not inconsistently wrong, eg if I was going 25km/h, and the size was set too big, it would show 30km/h, instead of 25 25 25 7 5 3 7 12 25 25 25. Edit: it makes me think of the power meter issue reported on the main firmware update thread, with dropouts: if the Bluetooth connection to the sensor dropped, and the watch wasn’t receiving the correct revolution data form it, the speed would be incorrect.

@Egika exactly. Only the picture in the user guide is wrong. Data on watch are ok, they are aligned with text in the user guide.

@HoBart don’t think so. There are quite some watch faces in the pipeline for Race/Vertical, but not these so far…
