@Kowalski I’m waiting for a successor of the Race S as well, decided not to go with the Race 2. But it felt surprisingly small for its size…

@Kowalski I don’t know. I’m not a Reddit admin, so I don’t know the tools they have at their disposal to detect stuff like this. It may have been that there was malware hidden in the file hosted in the Google Drive file, and the Core 2 leak was the bait to get you to open it? Just speculating.

Thought I’d add an update as I’ve just received a new sensor & belt from Suunto support who tested the old one & agreed that it was faulty. Also worth mentioning, whilst it was away at support I had to use the watch based optical sensor as I don’t have a back up & it performed surprisingly well

@matteobucc said: Hi everyone and Suunto Team, I am an advanced freediver (diving to 50m+ and competing) using the Suunto Ocean. The hardware, display, and GPS tracking are absolute 10/10. However, for deep freediving and spearfishing, the software currently lacks essential features found in older dedicated computers or competitor models. To make it a complete tool, please consider adding the following in upcoming firmware updates. First, a single surface screen summary between dives that displays surface time, dive time, minimum temperature, and ascent and descent speed (m/s). Second, separate descent and ascent alarms, with the option to configure depth and time alerts separately for the descent phase and the ascent phase. Third, a dedicated spearfishing profile that silences audio and vibration alarms by default. Fourth, a dedicated pool freediving profile designed specifically for dynamic and static training without triggering depth sensor alarms. Fifth, advanced app graphs with clearer depth and speed details in the logbook for post-dive analysis. The hardware is top-tier; now it just needs the software it deserves. Thanks! I completely agree that the Suunto Ocean has some serious shortcomings when it comes to freediving and spearfishing. It is truly unbelievable that the watch cannot display the two most essential pieces of information for freediving and spearfishing on the screen at the same time: the data from the last dive (depth and duration) and the surface time. This simply makes no sense and is one of the biggest shortcomings of an otherwise excellent watch. I also believe the watch should have a dedicated Spearfishing mode. For a device called Ocean, it is quite disappointing that, despite offering numerous sport profiles, there is no option specifically designed for spearfishing. Another major frustration is the automatic activation of Scuba mode every time I dive. As soon as I go deeper than one meter while swimming or simply enjoying the water, the watch automatically switches to Scuba mode. As a result, it records false dive activities throughout the day and negatively affects recovery and activity statistics. I would genuinely like to understand the logic behind this software design. Officially, the Suunto Ocean is not recommended for professional scuba diving, yet Scuba mode is enabled by default, cannot be disabled, and its behavior cannot be customized. That simply doesn’t make any sense.

Well, still not clear solution provided by Suunto, this is quite dissapointing so far, this should be such a basic feature that should be working.

It’s a really good idea ! It can be at the same time the occasion to change the low/mid/high system for brightness by adding option ‘dimmed’ and ‘red’ or do a slider for more precision.

I’ve had my V2 since mid October and so far not a single crash. I always run 3 S+ non-third party apps. No other issues either.

@tomvanacker well known. I usually charge my watch shortly before going to sleep. The stress is somehow reset while sleep tracking, So, it doesn’t bother me much.

For the curious, while reverse engineering some features on the ambit, it is the POIs from the ambit that don’t contain altitude. Not linked to suunto app.

I have been trying to build something like that but had not time too look in it further. https://forum.suunto.com/post/187238 It works in the simulator but not yet on the watch. Maybe I dive into it again after finishing my other projects.

I have got this answer from Suunto via the Norwegian service centre: HR sensor is not possible to pair yet, but in the next software update it should be possible. The instructions on how to do this were unfortunately left in the manual, even though the feature was not available at launch.

@Montrod said: Hey, long time Suunto user from the Suunto X6, Ambit 3, Peak Pro, Vertical… My running has changed a lot, moving towards shorter distances like the 400 to 5km. But winters I spend a lot of time in the mountains ski touring / free touring. So… I was thinking of getting an AMOLED watch as the 5k is fast, even faster over shorter distances, and I just glance at the face for pace during races and fast training sessions. The Race 2 seems more logical for my use case but if the distance issue is true it would annoy me. I do not wear a sports watch day to day in the office. So… is the Race 2 distance issue a consistent problem?
