Hi everyone, It seems that this update turned out to be more substantial and stable than the previous one. That’s definitely a good thing. However, it also seems that there are still some basic things that should already have been addressed. A few examples: the alarm function is outdated. The swimming drill function is still missing. For a dive watch, it is perfectly reasonable — and not an exaggeration at all — to expect it to be among the best when it comes to classic water sports features. Even the Ambit 3 already had a basic but well-functioning swim drill feature. As for the diving side, there are clearly more advanced users involved, so I won’t pretend to know better there, but it is obvious that satisfaction is still not complete. As a user, here is my humble suggestion: release the above-mentioned and other reasonable updates raised by users within a shorter timeframe, ideally together with any necessary bug fixes related to new features. It seems there has finally been meaningful progress toward better precision and accuracy. As users, it’s important to acknowledge that — it improves overall satisfaction. At the same time, this progress can easily be undermined if the feature gap starts widening again and the backlog keeps growing. The Ocean has still not fully regained the flagship position it deserves — but its price suggested the premium category. Right now, it rather seems to be catching up. With more regular and scheduled updates, I hope that can change. I think every user understands and accepts a more cautious update process due to safety validation requirements. In fact, it is reassuring to see that the manufacturer takes diving features seriously. However, this cannot become a reason for the watch to age prematurely, especially since the hardware clearly still has a lot of untapped potential. So please — and I believe I can say this on behalf of many users — keep this new momentum going, Suunto team! We truly appreciate it. But please do not repeat the previous mistake of leaving this excellent model without proper attention for too long, despite its huge unrealized potential. Because there is still a gap — the disadvantage has only been reduced. Thanks in advance, and we are rooting for the Suunto team (says an enthusiastic user who still believes in this brand).

Thank you very much, I guess I’ll have to solve it that way as well. It would be great if Suunto could pull dive sites from PADI, SSI, or DAN so that you could get suggestions about where the dive took place.

@André-Faria Nope. Individual creation remains the method.

@Egika I had a similar problem when updating maps. The map upload continued at the office, then I went home and it was postponed until tomorrow. Even though the watch was connected to Wi-Fi at home, the upload didn’t progress at all. So I deleted the Wi-Fi network the watch was connected to and re-paired it. It then continued the upload from where it left off. Just a suggestion.

@isazi Thanks for the update, I really do hope we get the features, as swimming is primarily my sport. And the watch is both diving and sport advertised. Also, the fact that Suunto recommended this knowing my use case does not seem to make sense at this point. I would really like to get involved to help the delays on the Ocean, as it is a solid product just lacks the support in comparison to the other outdoor watches.

@Egika Thank you very much for your input. This is good news, I hope it comes to the Ocean, do you know perhaps? (All my previous Suunto watches did not hold up in the ice swimming conditions, so Suunto said the Ocean is the best fit, but updates seem to be lacking) I will give it a look, must have missed it somehow. I hope this Feature Suggestion post will have more swimmers suggesting features to improve swimming.

@Nandodiver said in In Backcountry skiing it sucks!!!: @Brad_Olwin 220 minus age that’s the official method largely used for more than 30 years More recently in 2023 some endurance athletes start using the “Nes formula” 220 minus age: 220 - 60 = 160 bpm Nes formula: 211 - (0.64 × 60) = 211 - 38.4 ≈ 173 bpm Most of those formulas are poor, it does not matter how long they have been used. Typically the subjects the formulas are based on are sedentary or do not exercise much. Second, max HR is highly genetically determined and variable. For me the formulas give numbers that would severely negatively impact my training. Max HR should be determined by training if possible. There have been many posts here and I see on Apple forums where individuals are exercising for 60 min or more in Z5.

Hello @pavel.samokha & SUUNTO! When can we expect an update in freediving mode? @johnkokk provided you guys with very articulate, excellent, and NEEDED update guidance already 1,5 years ago, and it’s not been implemented. This is quite crazy that this has NOT been updated. What’s the blocker on this side? These changes are… not the hardest to make as the functionality is there. We truly need this info. First order of update would be what John said, and secondly - STA and DYN could be really useful, too. In last update there was tons of needed stuff, yes, but adding 22 new sports before fixing one of key USP & Promises? Not cool. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS! Thanks
