@isazi Oh thanks for your warm words 🙏, when you want to learn from a teacher I suggest to look for a local teacher. Often this can be learned in Qi Gong courses or also in Yoga or Tai chi classes in fitness studios or martial arts schools.
Qi Gong is often the easiest way to start since it has easier movement techniques (compared to Tai Chi or Yoga from which I know very less) and breathing is an fundamental part of it. There are “low quality” courses who only teach the movement, like a gymnastics style, but breathing is an integral part of all “inner arts”.
If you just want to practice breathing by yourself, there are many books and even good apps. I could recommend the books from Dr. Yang Jing Ming, a highly skilled and respected master like this:
which is also available as an app for Android an iOS with good videos.
Or better for starting:
Dr. Yang has a lot of good publications and being a physicists he also has a scientific background. He also has many videos on YouTube.
Another great book (but more on Qi Gong / Chi Kung as a whole and the Zhang Zhuang “standing like a tree” techniques) is “The way of energy” from Master Lam Kam Chuen, which I consider the best book for starting to practice Qi Gong since it is very well written and covers every aspect of life and how practicing Qi Gong techniques help e.g. to have more stamina in sport or in all day life.
@andré-faria thank you,
I hopefully wont be in a position to replicate again for another 12months, I was doing some extent mapping via a hovercraft; therefore used Sailing as the activity and the activity in question was in excess of 5hrs, be a while before I’m doing that job again in those circumstances, I personally think the software / firmware side got into a tizz; this can happy to a lot of hardware that has firmware installed to control the hardware.
As mentioned I will of course keep an eye on the situation and if I find the Bluetooth not appearing to broadcast again then I may get in touch with Support or just send it back (bought through amazon, so this is often easier than waiting on support.
@isazi tx - tried it, it still showing up as a confused no gps ‘hike’ at the time of the swim on Friday, with hiking stats and no track. I sent ‘contact support’
request from my app as well as logs, will see if Suunto gets back to me. Thanks anyway
@mountainchris I am not having any issues here. There are 2 ways to use the smart sensor without the watch on you.
#1. Put the Smartsensor on, start an activity on the watch and leave the watch at home, in a locker, etc. The smartsensor will record 2-3h without the watch. Get the watch, end the activity and HR will sync.
#2. Use SA on the phone but the phone must stay with you, there is no memory feature in SA.
Both work for me.
Same as you guys, I’ve discovered Gravel mode today in the App.
I’m using a SSU and I modified the basic Road Cycling sport mode for my Gravel moves.
With this new mode, do you feel such Gravel mode will be directly added to my SSU or because it’s an “obsolete” model I will have to change the sport mode myself in the App 😞
@patrick-löffler Your point is well taken! I agree that a little bit more “wellness” data would be ideal -especially for those who are wearing the watch 24/7. Adding to your list, it would be nice to have data on sleep stages over the course of the night (REM, light, deep) and how they were distributed (S7 seems to have such a feature).
Last, this might be marginally off-topic, I am wondering whether it would be technically possible to add an “assistance alert” feature. I see that SuuntoPlus has a “Safe” page; however, there is no way of triggering (from the watch) a pre-determined message (through the phone) asking for help at the coordinates displayed in the Safe Page. I have a similar function on a Garmin device and it is a peace of mind. I can see several situations in which one may be in need of help and either unable to reach his/her phone or unable to copy the coordinate; the feature might be useful (of course assuming phone and watch are connected and that your phone has coverage).
As somebody noticed in previous posts, S+ Weather screen seems to solve a problem as a workaround. If you activate this screen (Weather) and if you return to screen where temp field is displayed than it works ok, it shows temp. It seems like a temp sensor is off when you start activity and if you activate S+ Weather than it turns on… this is the bug
@sartoric for me that was not true. I had NO HR Graph before resetting the watch and it WAS THERE after the reset, only to disappear again (until I did the next reset, which brought the HR graph with all days HR up again)… it was really weird and I am happy that the watch is working normal again…
FWIW I purely use my S9B for running, I don’t wear it through the day therefore none of the HR monitoring, notifications etc are enabled. I usually charge mine every 10-14 days and that’s averaging around 70-100km/week of running
On the mountain race I did last weekend I was running for 7hr40 and after I had stopped recording my battery was on 74%. Pretty impressive considering the GPS and everything was set to optimal
Yes, I think, the firmware was updated since the custom more was created. Users fields were: speed, lap duration, distance, altitude, HR, altitude gain, vertical speed. I think, that’s all - on two screens.
Latest app version on Android.
Today, I had the chance to try multi sport with the custom mode without ampersand in the name, and it worked. Doesn’t necessarily mean the ampersand is related, of course.
