GPS not working
-
Hey I just bought a new Suunto 9 Peak and after making all the configurations it looks like the GPS is not working at all.
I have linked it correctly with the Suunto App, tried many hard resets, and changing all the GPS options in Settings but it is not working in any of the 4 Satellites options and can’t even find my location.
Has anyone experienced something like this before?

@Alex-Gascón contact support, most probably there is something wrong with your watch.

@Alex-Gascón First of all, do you have the AGPS file updated? With every reset you delete it.
I would do the following:
- Soft reset, 12/15 seconds upper button.
- Sync the app and the watch, wait till the watch is fully synced, be sure it has synced.
- Wait at least 20 minutes, to be sure AGPS is deployed
- Look for GPS in an open area, leave the watch there for 15/20 min, even if it has got the signal.
- If this doesn’t work, contact support as @isazi said.

@cosme-costa said in GPS not working:

I’m sorry but I do not know what is this file or how to check if it us updated.
I just know when I did the hard reset the watch stayed some minutes “updating everything”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GNSS
Basically a file with info about satellites position that is updated (in the watch) everytime you sync

@Alex-Gascón You can check that AGPS file date in the Settings > General > About watch (I’m not sure about the wording, in french its “a propos”)
Here you will have “assisted gps” and a text something like “2024-01-30T00:00:00Z” the first numbers are for the date of the file (for mine its today) -
@cosme-costa I want to test it a little bit more but for now looks that it works!! Thanks for the help

@Alex-Gascón Good to know!!
My recommendation is: DO NOT sync your watch actively just before your GPS activity, if you have to do it, do it at least 20/30 minutes before.
Let me explain: If for some reason the app/watch sends the AGPS just before the activity the AGPS file needs to be deployed and you won’t get GPS lock easily, you will have to wait at least the 15 minutes that are needed to install the AGPS. If you do a soft reset the AGPS will be deleted as well and will need to be installed again. In my experience if your watch and phone are connected (SA app running in the background, BT on the phone always on) you shouldn’t have any problem and you shouldn’t notice long GPS lock times.
