I used to run with OHR and it was really ok for regular flat runs. The OHR struggled to get a good reading when going downhill fast when there were lots of erratic hand movement in difficult trail runs. So I went with H10 and I’m happy. For regular runs I don’t see that much of a difference (well, maybe first 10 minutes are sometimes weird with OHR) but when doing trails HR belt is pretty awesome. The reaction time with HR belt is amazing compared to OHR. However, for hiking and regular walks OHR in S5 works well. I very seldomly get weird readings for no more than fifteen seconds.

@tomiw I confirm that the vibration on Suunto 5 is extremely weak, almost useless, compared to the Spartan Trainer. What a pity!

@Rosie65 You are not the first person to complain about that. Yes, standby backlight does help screen readability quite a bit in exchange to a small hit to the battery life.

@sartoric did what you say and tightend and cleaned the band and went running for 5 km which delivered the complete same (!) average hr both on the S5 and the AW 5 [image: 1600632515476-6e989fa9-eec8-45d5-822e-e506e6e5b3f8.jpeg] [image: 1600632515460-68935b1d-ef74-42cb-ac99-eab7a775777d.jpeg] Then after a pause went walking with the dog and voila same problem: after a while the hr raises magically on the S5 to over 150 bpm, while it never surpasses 119 bpm on the AW5 [image: 1600632647643-e54801b3-171f-4d2f-83fe-feb2fd1cd3cc.jpeg] [image: 1600632647630-4c3225aa-4d1a-4018-9e76-33c1a2c78bdd.jpeg] Will give it another try tomorrow… but it’s weird

Yes, you can edit your distance in SA, but i don’t think this edit will transfer over to strava. If you have a Concept2 Machine then you could use their logbook to connect to strava that way it transfers the correct distance and a few other data points time/500m etc. If you do other sports which transfer to strava via SA and you decide to use the concept2 logbook to transfer your erg session, you will have to simply delete the transferred SA workout in strava which will be a duplicate of the concept2 session. Hope that make sense Edit: I should add I have the S9 but I would imagine the same data is editable in SA for the S5 Watches

Unfortunately I am using Google fit to sync weight from Withings to Strava (I don’t believe SA can import weight). Maybe you can skip Fit using IFTTT.

@davide-cantoni Are you on the most recent firmware? There was a release today, see if that helps. How long is the Custom timer set for?

@S-Boardman Are you syncing with Suunto App once per day? Is the green GPS icon lighting up on the watch prior to your start? It is possible that you do not have a current AGPS file and the watch does not “know” where you are. The route will not show properly under those circumstances. To check AGPS on the watch go to Settings/General/About and make sure the AGPS file is current. If not you need to sync with SA and ensure GPS is optimized and a current (today’s date) AGPS file is present.

You can hear a flebile ticking if you put it really close to your ear, due to the flashing diode … but buzzing can be an electric issue

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks, yes the S5 really seem to suit my needs. I really like it and all values seem to be very close to what I got from the S9B. I did the Nordic Walking on very hard underground without the rubber on the poles, what created a lot of vibration in the poles, which might have also generated a lot of disturbances. Will try with softer ground / rubbers while on street and see how it works. But Suunto really got me! I really like Suuntos interface and the reliability of the watches. Coming from a Polar Vantage, I am really satisfied with both the S5 and the S9B, but I tend to keep the S5 since I am not the Ultrarunner or mountain trail runner and therefore I do not really need all that extra features the S9B offers. Also a big Thank You for moderating that Forums in such a great way! Cheers Christian

@Maryn I think that those shifts may be related to how the GPS chip is processing position using GNSS data and hand movement. Notice how offsets are often reset when you change direction.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos cool. Thanks for mentioning steps to reproduce. In fact - I did turn off hr belt as the watch was struggling to lock on to my hr with ohr (which never happens) so I thought maybe it stubbornly wants to connect to hr belt which was impossible at that time. Only after that I thought meh to hell with hr, it’ll figure it out anyway sooner or later and I proceeded to load the route.

@cosmecosta for sure. That’s the way. The thing is that logs are rotated every some hours. So the sooner after the issue appears the better. And yes preferably suunto link else via suunto app is also possible but then I need account emails etc. Suuntolink gives a log id that works better.

Thank you for the replies. Seems, I’ve exaggerated a bit. The battery lasts about 2-3 days at least, the case when it was working only a day seems to be a glitch. Nevertheless, I will keep an eye on that and try what you suggested if things went worse.
