I just did a short workout on the crosstrainer without starting an activity in the Suunto Wear app. The 20 minutes were recognised as “walk” in Google Fit on the smartphone and the title and activity type can be edited. And distance and steps are equal to the earlier workouts recorded with the Suunto 7 or Spartan Ultra. [image: 1619777550139-screenshot_2021-04-30-12-07-45-051_com.google.android.apps.fitness.jpg]

Calendar Events: At the moment GA is broken when it comes to creating calendar events, and the Agenda app is pretty dismal, however Appfour has come to our rescue with a pretty decent app: Calendar for Wear OS (Android Wear) Pros: Can see all of your google calendars. Easy to install (can tell it to install from web browser on phone and on watch - note phone app is just a settings and manual app - uses your calendar). Only permission is calendar. Free version is view only. It works. Premium version allows you to create events (was £1.20 for me - which isn’t even the cost of a coffee). Its a good looking app and so much more functional than agenda. Can see full details of all calendar events. Cons: it only does calendar events, so reminders you need to view/add with GA or reminders app (GA broken for adding, and often would put under GA reminders whose notification has never worked). Note: to create events you will need to ensure that its is always running in the background of your phone, so you will have to set to Do Not Optimise like your Phone Wear OS app. Failure to do so will probably has prevented me from being able to set up an event.

@steve-wood said in Sending maps to watch not working?: Oddly though I’ve just tried to create a new route for a sort walk later and the slider for the send to maps has dissapeared from the sunnto app which was there after the update? I seem to remember this being mentioned by someone else in the Android app section of the forum.

I am also one of the users that keeps the Gfit “auto-tracking” enabled. I find it pretty good and with no real negative impact. The battery is pretty good, steps are not exactly the same but so close to be irrelevant, and I’ve never experienced ( or noticed) a wrong tracking of an activity. The 15 mins delay is a good point, but I guess I don’t really care too much since the activity is “light”. At least for me, I keep the SA for all the “real” activity, and the fit more as an overall aggregator for all the tracked and non-activities and the smart scale measurements. After the significant improvement with the last update, I use the SA much much more, but I believe I will continue using both in the soon future.

This “AliExpress beafiry Store” looks like it has some good nylon, leather, carbon fibre, and stainless steel straps. Nylon straps look very thin compared to the one displayed above. https://es.aliexpress.com/item/4001205879504.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.15ef3a12S31tLY&algo_pvid=394adbdb-b4d6-47fb-bd37-576f96883648&algo_expid=394adbdb-b4d6-47fb-bd37-576f96883648-11&btsid=2100bddd16196481974772830ea83e&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

@repayc said in Suunto 7 not updating: I have the same problem. I bought my watch last week and its still running the first software. Anytime I check for an update it says up to date. I’m slowly getting annoyed and I am thinking on returning the watch. I know your frustration…I bought my watch last Saturday, and wasn’t able to get it to update until this morning. I just kept trying here and there, and it finally worked for me today.

This is a old thread that I posted for S9B and because all 3rd party altimeters apps that I tested are not reliable or drain a lot my battery, I pump it this thread for two motives: 1)- Would be great if Suunto add a new Tile for S7 with altimeter, etc like the new additions that are VERY COOL. 2)- On this altimeter would be perfect have the Alt1 + Alti2, very useful Thanks!

@aeroild said in Apps for simulating structured workouts: It’s been almost a year since I used Exercise Timer, so things might have changed, but it worked fine for me. The only issue I remember is that the vibration was hard to notice sometimes. A work around could be to let the timer run in the foreground and Suunto in the background. I.e. if you don’t need to check HR data etc. Interesting. I’m having no luck. Only seems to be a problem while doing an activity with Suunto app in the foreground . They introduced the lowe power always on display during activity with the september update. Maybe that’s somehow causing issues for apps running in the background.

@egika and that is exactly what mine was doing. Have since pushed it up a bit based on my 24/7HR graphing and my recovery is now making much more sense. Based it on the phone apps sleep chart, put in HR against it. Wasn’t overly that much different to initial rate but has made a difference.

I get a similar dip about an hour before my alarm time. The odd thing is one of the three days, can see my HR gradually decreasing through the sleep as normal from going to bed just after midnight, getting to the 50’s… I woke up before alarm, laid there awake a bit plus had a toilet visit, so HR is up into 70’s) went back to bed just to wait for alarm (!) and had an almost immediate and sharp dip down into the 40’s before getting up and I was back up to 70’s. It doesn’t seem like it can be real - especially so soon after being awake. I’m not convinced I even went back to sleep. [image: 1619108817133-screenshot_20210422-172604_suunto.jpg] (the blank bit is Watch on charger). That Oura link is fascinating - mine is a downward slope - and its correct that I ate quite late and was drinking alcohol until very close to midnight (and also correct that I felt a bit off the next morning!).

@suuntoman I read on the FB Suunto 7 group that someone with an charging issue that came after the update solved it by pressing the upper left button for 15 secs and then charge the watch from a PC USB port, e.i. a low power USB charger.

@isazi agree with you there. Many more users would benefit if it gets built into the phone app.

Pressure aside, the Suunto 7 is not a diving watch nor a diving computer, and I would not trust my life to it.

@egika I found that when I did my update there is a place in the process where it seems to get stuck. A reboot and ensuring that wifi is on (bluetooth off) and not connected to the phone definitely seemed to help it push through. Sort of feels like it is maybe pulling in data or something. Watch seems to be ruuning, but when you look at notifications it tells you that you are still installing. pressing on the notificatin brings up install bar - mine was struggling around the dots. Also found that I had to reaccept a lot of data and connections. Which sort of makes sense based on the number of changes. Had to also reconnect to the suunto app (under settings).

@magoo https://forum.suunto.com/topic/6324/update-went-wrong?_=1618977336226 no solution yet, as it appears… unless factory reset which most of us do not favour as the first thing to do
