I have similar issues on my Race S several months ago an apparently fixed a couple of firmware update ago. In recent weeks I realized the problems popped up intermittently. I had been diligently sync-ing and exporting Stryd-only data for my runs and compare them to Suunto’s data. About half the time, the power numbers matched well, while the others will be off by 5 to 10w. And when the data got merged into Power Center, the Suunto’s numbers persisted, “compromising” the overall data quality. This is really frustrating.

@martintrail My Vertical behaves slightly differently. It correctly detects naps, sleep onset, and wake-up time. However, it doesn’t seem to capture the many times I get up, sit on the bed, move from the bed to the couch, etc. When compared with Whoop and Garmin, the Vertical tends to smooth out those awake moments and classify them as “light sleep.”

@e6321 I’ve been using sportwatches, smartwatches, and fitness bands from different manufacturers for decades, and only the Vertical 2 gives me this issue. Even the Vertical 1 never caused these problems. I think the hardware has now reached a very high level of precision, just like the algorithms that interpret the signals. However, the additional customizations introduced at the software level to improve data representation may be adding noise — or removing noise — from the signal.

Fortunately, it’s not like Garmin, where they advertise a million unnecessary features and users get badges even for sleeping…

@jamesGW I don’t quite understand what the problem is. What’s the point of viewing POIs halfway around the world on a tiny watch screen?

It all depends on which weather service is being used. For me, in the Netherlands, my suunto race s does a good enough job. It also shows the location it used on the watch. As far as I noticed, this applies to most European countries. My previous 2 garmins did a lousy job. Garmin uses a service that only provides weather for main airports. People complained about it that the watch showed a different place then they were at the moment. Garmin “fixed” this by removing the location information from the watch, so you couldn’t judge the accuracy of the weather report anymore. So, people complained on garmins forum that the location information was removed. Garmin “fixed” the complaning by closing the topic on their forum. And yes, two weather services might provide a forecast that contradicts each other.

@Audaxjoe It did similar tonight but then an option to update the watch came up. So I’ve done that and I’ll see what happens next time.

@gipfelkind Totally agree, ZoneSense seems to be buggy. I’m going to run without it for a while and see. Thanks for confirming!

Some very loud statements here. Unless you were counting all your steps in your head throughout the day. Which I highly doubt.
