@sky-runner You’re right… ! I see it similarly… it is certainly very difficult not to overload the Maps… POI like water points would certainly be useful on larger zoom levels… But they don’t care about trash cans at all…

@Joaquin Be careful not to chase perfection and in the end nothing is completed. The komoot route is a bit cumbersome and komoot is far from perfect (even if I tell komoot to not change the route, the route on my suunto race s is different than on my wife’s apple watch.) The garmin/wahoo way (select a gpx file and use the open with app) would be an improvement, even if not all tbt alerts are perfect. My first gps watch (a ambit 3 sport) only had breadcrumb navigation. Did I ever got lost? No. My watch after that, a forerunner 935, had breadcrumb and tbt alerts. (Which didn’t work well. A route could only have 50 navigation alerts and if you did your route reversed you lost all tbt alerts). Did I ever got lost? No. My first watch with maps (a forerunner 965) and having some context is nice. Eventually garmin fixed the 50 alert limit, but not the reverse problem and they introduced a timing bug (up to 10k the alerts are before a corner, after 20k alerts are in a corner, or after). And yes, on a twisty road you get alerts for every corner. Did I ever get lost? No. Now I have a suunto. Komoot is fine, but could be better. Autodetect of going reverse is good. No problem if I do a round route and the end is detected before the start (garmin has problems with this. Navigations stops when you reach the goal, which could be before you actually started). Autozoom actually works as one would except (garmin had autozoom, but that doesn’t work, or not as one should expect). But do I get lost ever? No. In the end, all are equally good in the “do not get lost” requirement. Is everything perfect? No. But don”t wait until everything is perfect. Release small steps. Get feedback. Improve some more.

@peegee If you loaded a route, the % displayed on guidance screen is the average slope on remaining distance of the climb. If you are using climb app, the % is the “current” slope (based on last seconds or X meters - don’t know the exact calculation method used - maybe already mentionned on the forum).

@2b2bff well well well … if you tell to someone who is doing a diet that he lost 5000 g and to his wife that she lost 5 kg … you are right … this is not the same … the wife will be super happy but the man wearing a suunto and for who 43 and 43.0 make a difference will start to question himself about the precision of instrument … how it could have been possible that he arrives preciselly to exact 5000 Joking !!!

  • So Difference between Race 2 and Vertical 2 = Flashlight and Digital Crown

Have to say, what you don’t know you cannot miss. But last year, in a very dark hotelroom, the screenflashlight of my race s was sufficient for my wife to find something on the table while I could stay in bed. So, for now, I’m in “what’s all the fuss about” mode. The digital crown of my race s is complex. Just using it to scroll up or down through menus or items is hideous. The 5 button layout of my previous garmin was better, but with touchscreen I don’t use the buttons very often. But to zoom in and out in a map it’s great. Again with a but. I was used to zoom on the garmin and it was horrible. Complex and buggy as hell. So is the crown just better that worst case garmin or would a 5 button Suunto implementation beat the digital crown? Might. perhaps. Not unlikely. Have to say, the race s provides the features I want in the smallest possible case, so the vertical 2 wouldn’t be competition for my race s (for me). So 5 buttons or a digital crown wasn’t a consideration. Have to say, 5 buttons shouts a bit more outdoorsy and a digital crown a bit more watch like.

@Kristin-Jensen Sorry bu I’m in total opposite … all depends which sport you do … for example when you are swimming between the fact you could be impaired + the fog in yoru glass after 1 km hen for sure you will bever be able to see small fonts and instead you need even bigger than what is it today … All the details of your swim race you can review them later when you debrief your session

@Stefan-T. I was experiencing this after I first got the watch. I did a soft reset. In subsequent uses, 10% of daily usage Exercise, navigation off. Wake from wrist on AOD off. Screen brightness medium. Notifications on (I get a lot of notifications during the day) 24/7 wrist heart rate monitoring on I sync 3 times a day. I update the altimeter from GPS twice a day (just a habit ) Blood oxygen on. Alarm on every morning at 7 AM. Sleep tracking on. Sunrise and sunset alarms on. Media controls on when I listen to music through headphones. Sometimes I use the flashlight (for about 10 seconds. For advertising ) Things that come to mind. (English is not my first language. I use Google Translate sometimes, so apologies for any translation mistakes.)

I received an update on the matter after contacting Suuntos support team. After shipping off all my logs and specifications, I received this: *As per the reply from our technical team, we recommend restarting the watch before exercising and trying to use fewer Suunto Plus apps during activities. Please note that this issue has already been identified and is expected to be addressed in the next software update.*

@elbee I agree, there should be a simple toggle for morning report without doing anything about sleep tracking.
