@TELE-HO in general you are correct. Many Informations can easily be dismissed with the middle button. Not so the downhill lap information in skiing. As I said - I reported it a year ago or so.

Anyway, see it as a “User-Story” and maybe communicate it to the developer team. Additional, it would be good to see those features on the ambit, cause that’s the classic model which use mountain-guides and other alpinists. There is no sense of purpose to use those newer (expensive) clocks with additional features of smart watches. I know that there are a lot of competitors on the market, but don’t forget the main (often simple) things of outdoor watches. However I think Suunto is still on the right way

This post made my day. Maybe we need to talk about GPS from time to time to learn about it… or maybe just say “The Suunto doesn’t record 1s and I see it on my GPX file” and see what happens…

@Cuba1hr @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I think Polar simply looks at your heart rate distribution and uses established equations on fat/carbs as primary fuel source based on intensity. The fun part is: if you rely on default heart rate zones set by Polar or yet another age-based formula, this number is probably off, and by a lot. You need to be below your aerobic threshold to use fat as a primary fuel and in a steady state activity. Go harder than necessary, or in an interval stop-go fashion, and you’ll be relying on alactic or anaerobic pathways. Check out Uphill Athlete. They have multiple ways to test for aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. Once you have these, set your Suunto 9 heart rate zones based on their recommendation and do long runs or bike sessions (working up to 90-120 minutes a pop, longer sessions being really good at forcing your body to rely on fats and conserve carbs) below your aerobic threshold. That would build up an aerobic base and force all sorts of metabolism enhancing adaptations. Between consistent exercise and clean, reasonable diet, you’d be in decent shape in no time.

Well my S9 is also tracking sleep when not on my wrist (but within sleeping hours). Once I commuted to work by bike (almost two hours) and left it on the bike when taking a shower. It greeted me with good morning when I took it of So I had sleeping hours with almost 3 hours of awake time

@rfernandes79 in short: GPS only data are very erratic. On Flat they can register too much On great ascents they look ok. Suunto uses a 7m filter (you have to climb 7 to get 7m ascent or more). however! On strava you can correct this! If that is what interests you

@Jonathan-Schwarz OK we are now clear (sorry, it early morning here, and coffee does not wake up me yet ) First advice : clear the app cache in android settings (application menu, then find SA, then in storage --> clear cache). Second advice : uninstall completely the app, you won’t loose any data. Third advice : later after first 2 (i don’t have one for now )

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos But 32kcals? Strava doesn’t do that with their mobile app tracker. I dont have experience with Garmin/Polar. But I never had that with my Ambit3 Vertical before my new S9B

@regger @regger said in Ongoing problems with altitude: @Václav-Král said in Ongoing problems with altitude: @regger I tried this. No success. So my Suunto 9 goes back, warranty is still void. Made a exercise with my old Ambit 2 - oh i miss the reliability of the ascent / descent meter calculation - just around 1% deviation. Sorry to hear this, the S9 can be great, here is a comparison with A3P and S9 and S7 for Hill Intervals last Thursday. All three are essentially identical and you can see the FusedAlti engage for S9 and S7. [image: 1585516895523-png-image-7-resized.png] [image: 1585517090657-png-image-8-resized.png]

@venleo That makes sense based on what Dimitrios stated, the ultra mode will provide the expected battery life but needs to be run continuously. The watch does not take much to charge so you could run in ultra mode for your bike tour and probably have to charge only once or twice. My experience in endurance mode is the estimates for the battery life are reasonably accurate but I turn the watch on and it runs for the duration.
