I would very much like to disable VO2max detection for trail running activities too. When I owned Garmin, my VO2max continuously declining because a do at least 1-2 serious trail runs per week on a steep terrain. Once I disabled trail running VO2max on Garmin, the estimate steadily went up from 47 to over 52 in just a few months. Now, that I have owned Suunto Race S and S for over a year, my VO2max has been stuck in the 48-49 range, occasionally going to upper 49. I feel that is a bit too low. Every time I do a trail run, it always goes down to lower 48 or even upper 47. The funny thing is that I am a relatively better trail runner than I am a road runner. I have good and efficient technique when running on technical trails, but despite that the VO2max estimate is always punished!

It’s nice to see some positive comments, so many posts are pretty negative. I fully agree with your experience. I have switched between Suunto and Garmin for 20+ years. Over time, each had their strengths and weaknesses. I think Suunto Race 2 is one of the best options sports and adventure watches available. The UI is logical, intuitive and provides simple and effective options for navigating with the 2 buttons, scroll wheel (great for map zooming in and out), and touchscreen. The data is spot on, no fluff, and the new oHR sensor works great. I personally like the architecture of keeping Suunto Plus apps separate - you add only stuff you want, unlike Garmin packing it all into the base watch (and making it cluttered and more of a learning curve). It looks amazing and feels great on the wrist. I won’t be switching back to Garmin anytime soon if ever. Three improvements I would like to see (1) add routable maps with trail and feature names (2) allow more than 2 Suunto Plus apps to run during an activity (3) sync all data both ways between the watch and app so all data is global (like the app) vs local to the watch. That would allow for multiple watches to act as one from a data perspective. It would also allow data added from other sources (bike computer, manually entered) be reflected on the watch. My 3 cents.

@Ecki-D. I think your guess is correct, it probably won’t work technically. It’s kind of a shame because you have to consider navigation or live trekking… Thanks for your feedback

@TED77 But generally, the number itself doesn’t matter, nor do these types of comparisons. If the trend or graph is more or less the same in both tools, the difference in numerical values can simply be ignored.

@Squirrel Thanks a lot! Now it makes sense. I am new to TrainingPeaks and I tried to study how the CLT, ATL and TSB are calculated and I though that I understand it but then different text description of values in the app and watch totally confused me. Also in the watch manual there is no deep description of widgets, there are just few general sentenses without needed details. I think that this would be an easy fix which helps people to start with training peaks. Also lots of people complains than Suunto watches are often inconsistent with the app and this would help at least a bit with this issue…

@amko34 said in [BUG] Race 2 - If you set Pace zones, they disappear as intensity zones targets: Has anybody else noticed this? I would assume this is rather a software/firmware error than an error by my watch itself. Yes, first mentioned here https://forum.suunto.com/post/180107 No idea if Suunto officially noticed this, but it is a serious issue. This thread should be probably filed in https://forum.suunto.com/category/33/watches because it appears firmware related. @pavel.samokha

Hi, I have same experience. I basically could not get out of the green zone on the watch, even I am quite high with my HR. When I checked the app in the phone afterwards I can see that I spent periods in other zones as well… I also took a photo of my watch before I ended the training and all time was counted just in the green Aerobic zone. When I checked the uploaded training in the app, I could see that some period I spent also in the Anaerobic zone. So the watch probably does not show correct zones.

@Hari-Seldon said in Altitude Widget Graph doesn’t update in time: @Tomas5 out of curiosity I’ve tried on Suunto Run and it’s ok Run has different generation of firmware so maybe it is fixed there.

@TED77 luckily I have both Suunto and Polar belts, so I just switched to Suunto and gave Polar to my wife, since she’s an Apple girl and has no problems with H10 that is my solution

@Nikolai yes, there are more people around here who are quite frustrated by that. Some others seem it “okay”, they are “working on it” and “there are more important things”.

@Brad_Olwin yes, Race 2. The thing is, it is implemented for Running, but not Trail running. It doesn’t make sense. Thank you for consideration. It should be easy fix.

@Egika Thanks for your quick reply. But this S+ app doesn’t take the lap button press into account, and therefore doesn’t show the duration of the last kilometer after pressing the lap button / starting an interval with a guide. I want something simple: to be able to press the lap button / start an interval, and then get a notification from the watch 1 km later telling me how long it took to run that kilometer! I love the watch, I really wanted to leave the Garmin ecosystem, but this missing feature (which is incomprehensible to me) is going to force me to go back.

I guess then that you should request Nolio to change their integration to Suunto, so that when they create a cycling SuuntoPlus Guide they set it also to be available not only for road but also for indoor cycling
