Hello, today we noticed this issue on my wifes 5 Peak. Unfortunatelly it has already 2.5 year so it is not under warranty anymore. And she is light user, and not wearing it while washing dishes, showering, sleeping etc. Only around 9hours a day during working days only and then while cycling/hiking but thats few times a month. @Albert-Prat Without knowing anything about the watch you use, the environment or how OHR usually works for you: The first problem sounds like ‘cadense lock’ where the sensor mistakenly interprets the arm swing (or body vibration) from your steps as the actual heart rate. In warmer weather it usually can be corrected by tightening the watch strap and making sure it sits a bit above the bony protrusion bewteen wrist and hand. In cold weather, due to the fact that the blood vessels contract and are pulled deeper below the skin, this sensor confusion is more likely to happen. Even I, with very little melanin in the skin and usually having good results with OHR, use an electrical signals heart rate strap between October and May (living in Sweden). A heart rate strap having spikes at the beginning of a run could be due to dryness; not having a good contact with the skin. Also more frequent during winter with dry air. I always run the whole strap under the water faucet/tap before putting it on. During the exercise the body sweat usually suffice to keep a good contact between electrodes and skin. Poor HR strap performance can also be caused by low battery levels, contaminated electrodes (dirt/salt/minerals) or them just having lost conductivity due to wear. I bought a new strap (the pod is fine) for my Polar H10 this season, the fourth year after original purchase. The electrodes had begun to crack and lift a bit - which I first glued down again - and I simply lost faith in the overall integrity.

@Kakit normally with Suunto you would achieve this by designing custom sports mode on the app. I haven’t got the 5 but would think that is probably the same.

@Todd-Danielczyk this was definitely a harsh introduction. But I’m feeling better today with everything working as it should. For now I’m trying to learn cause it’s so much different then Garmin.

No, that’s not something I’ve ever experienced. To be clear, what you are saying is that when you start an activity with a structured workout the watch goes into activity mode as usual, you can see the workout screen and get the alerts of the steps in the workout, the workout ends without issue, you can stop the activity and you can see the activity summary etc. and see the activity in the log on the watch just like you’d expect but the activity doesn’t sync back to the app? Do your workouts use names or have step names that use non-english characters? A total guess but I just wonder whether the activity data might be failing to export from the watch due to some sort of workout-related metadata issue.

@johnmcr I have tried a soft reset it had no effect. I have used the watch to record a basic walk activity and that seems to give the same distance on the watch and in the GPX file. So the thing being affected is the cycling activity. I checked the settings for this and found that the bike pod was on. Turning it off seems to correct the problem of displayed distance and GPX/Fit file distance. This leads me to wonder if the Bike Pod can be used at the same time as recording with the GPS? Is there a way of calibrating the Bike Pod to give more accurate distances? Does it give an accurate distance measurement when used on a bike trainer?

@isazi 100% sure as I tested it by walking 20 steps without backlight, wait for a minute to see if the steps show and then walk 20 steps with blacklight and then they show up immediately.

@far-blue in the app that should be easy, you can toggle all the fields you want to see - watch face summary not sure. [image: 1715145708966-screenshot_20240508-072103.png]

Just one more thing - in my first post I wrote that this issue does not exist for the ‘cycling’ mode. Unfortunately this was NOT true - all the training modes which I have tried so far, including cycling, seem to be affected.

@Hamilton I also found that my resting HR is quite a good indicator of fitness, though it reacts slowly to changes.

@muerte334422 Glad it at least mostly started working again! Warranty time is usually 2 years.
