@freeheeler The Suunto 7 can’t connect to external Bluetooth sensors like footpods or heart rate monitors. The other Suunto watches can.

@Jamie-BG I don’t think, that Garmins Training assessment is completely wrong, but the problem for me is that Garmin is not tracking my sleep correctly and this „kills“ Training Readiness most of the times for me. All other values are in a good range (Load, HRV, Recovery …). Garmin often sees me awake for hours, when I am soundly sleeping and often tracks only some minutes of deep sleep. If I would sleep like this, I would be in a very problematic physical condition. I tested this with many devices again and again (wearing the Fenix 7 and other new Garmin devices together with an Oura ring, a Polar Vantage, Suuntos and a Amazfit Watch (sometimes wearing four devices, one on my ankle ) and they all showed me sleeping, when Garmin sees me awake. I found Oura for me to be most consistent with how I feel that I slept and correlates best with sleep and awake times.

@BinoWorld-UK Since it’s under warranty get in contact with Suunto support as suggested, or your local authorized service. I had issues with a Suunto 3 after a few months and I got in contact directly with the local authorized service who checked it and have sent it to Finland for a new replacement. Wasn’t in the UK but I guess the process should be similar.

@aeroild I agree that the choice would be preferable. I would rather have the choice too, using the S7 for intervals and asking for reliable HR from the wrist is not going to work.

This is what happens when I run! After about 10 minutes it matches my Polar OH1 fairly closely. Even if i go for a walk it spikes for the first few minutes. It hit 140 during a gentle stroll today. [image: 1662834618304-9c137897-d1b5-4369-8df3-6da2064c286f.jpeg]

@flypg Hope you feel better and recovers soon enough! Eventually the S7 resources will climb up as your HR goes down. It’s important to rest if you are feeling tired or coming down with an illness. The S7 HRV measurement is accurate and need time to calculate your resources. Also, you can add the Google fit HR tile as it’s displays your Resting HR. It’s extremely accurate when compared to my AW S6.Both read the same RHR. RHR going down expect resources to start improving

@freeheeler alright, I get it now… So probably best to set the average RHR of a week rather than a day which must be approximately what Suunto default is 60bpm

@freeheeler Very true, I think all devices are different and I am assuming if a watch can be pretty accurate in water means that it should effectively be pretty accurate as well outdoor. The watch I used to compare va the S7 was the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro. I have put this watch vs Apple S6 and it had a error margin of 2.7% when comparing average and max HR in walk and a run.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I cleared the Wear OS cache and turned off automatic Play Store updates. Since then there haven’t been any random rapid drops. Also, Bluetooth usage has stayed at 1%. It may be a bit premature to say it, but the problem does seem to have gone away. So, again, thanks everyone for the suggestions.

@Jamie-BG Of course, no one “literally” forced me to do it, but it was the only way to solve that only Suunto-related apps were not working. I do not agree with you, for me it is not logical to perform a factory reset frequently. As a user also of devices with this option, I have not needed it. I use mainly when tweeking, test apps/settings on other devices modifyng what factory/developer give me, it’s not the case (custom-mods, roms, etc). “Hey, can’t see your friends’ Instagram stories correctly? Factory reset your phone and try again.” Apologies, for me this is not logical. Obviously it’s a easy exit to problems, but for me it’s a time insuming task re-add all the settings, parameters, create the sport modes, etc with the only reason that is use the product/device in a normal way. In fact, here in the forum you can read about experiences that have needed it almost quarterly or something like that, luckily for me it’s the first or second time I needed it. I normally use factory reset when I am going to sell or discard a device. I used for years my A3P, I never needed, also the S9B, I never needit, only with S7. And “for nothing” it’s clear: I only used the device in the normal way.

@BinoWorld-UK The S7 first beat sleep tracking is approx 2 years old now, and is the very original version, so am not quite sure what is used and how. Can advise that the latest first beat sleep tracking (per Garmin watches) uses HRV to determine Body Battery (Resources for Suunto); but your sleep score is based off Duration, HRV, Restlessness/awake, HR (mainly around Deep stage - seems less impact on Light and REM which is probably just as well as it struggles to differentiate between the two which isn’t surprising).

@Zoran-Z body resources can increase even if it is not tracked as sleep… I woke up, notified the watch that I woke up, but decided to sleep more… it tracked sleep until I confirmed I woke up, but resources increased even during the sleep after
