It only should do this once per day to update a file of satellite locations which helps the watch get a fix faster. It’s noticeable when the file is not updated as it can take minutes for the watch to get signal when the file is old.

When upload routes with Suunto App with android phones?
if you mean Upload a GPX file and transfer it to your watch as a route, it is already there in SunntoApp for Spartan/S watches.
If you mean something different, please tell us more about your watch and your case.
@Scoutc03 from Suunto app you can download the FIT file of your activities. FIT contains more information than GPX, but if you still need GPX, there are plenty of conversion tools around. Just pick one, even online.
@Juha-Ranta
my understanding is: sport mode editing is done in movescount web and synced by cable.
sync thru app will only be possible if you still have MC app installed, but will not be a sustainable option… unless Suunto integrates A3PS better into SA, editing sport modes by MC web and cable will be the way to go
You can’t do any of that from the Suunto App for your Ambit. And never will be it seems at this point. Only syncing of activities as it stands today and going forward.
1 and 2 will be supported by some other MovesCount-ish application, according to Suunto sometime mid 2020. Not likely to be a mobile app. Probably something web based with bridge software on your pc/Mac like suuntolink. We shall see.
3 looks like it’ll never exist once MovesCount is discontinued completely. Folks have asked for a web/browser platform for analysis. Nothing has been announced or planned afaik. But the Suunto App is the platform for syncing recorded activities and analysis. There are also third party tools for the analysis once you’ve synced to the Suunto App.

Never used it, hopefully other users that did the migration can chime in, but I heard it takes some time, yes.
You could also contact Suunto support and ask.
