Important: is your S9/S5/Spartan AGPS up-to-date when Syncing with the Suunto app?
-
@fejker That’s what I thought, however mine is still stuck on 07-21 and hasn’t refreshed with the last sync.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Fine! SSU SW 2.8.24 AGPS 2019-07-31T04:05:01Z SA 4.2.4
-
Working. Thanks!
-
Not fixed problem remains: first agps update after watch reset is okay, but subsequent agps updates fail.
1- sync with SA on 31/7 —> watch was till stuck on 2019-07-12 aftee sync (as usual)
2- 12s reset watch —> watch shows n/a (as usual)
3- sync with SA on 31/7 —> watch updated to most recent 2019-07-31 (as usual)
4- sync with SA on 1/8 —> watch remains on 2019-07-31 (as usual)
Using iOS 12.3.1 / SA 1.10(7268) / S9 2.8.24

Well, today is 01/08/2019 and I do not not if the AGPS file has been issued yet. I would wait till the end of the day or tomorrow before I say it is not working…

It’s working for my SSU and S9. Agps file from today, 01.08.2019.
Android 9.1, SA latest beta, FW latest version

@cosmecosta
I confirm
Still 31/07 one hour ago, 01/08 now.
It is working. Gps file is per day and not always at 00:00 for everyone. -
@cosmecosta @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Hi, synced now and still nothing. The time format indicates that it should be utc time (t00:00:00z), so it should be in deed available by now for sure.
…And now I connected to Movescount and … tadaa, it did the agps update, it is 2019-08-01. (No parsing delay btw)
I am having this issue ever since I switched to Suunto app ~end May. I am clueless. Can it be that I am the only one having this issue?
-
Hi this can be coincidence. AGPS is updated once per day and there is no need to be updated in a more frequent manner. (even 2 days are ok or more)
So yes switching apps can force this but you should not worry so much for 24h differences

@Mff73 A-GPS Almanac is calculated once a day and has a “validity” timestamp from which time it can be used. Here you find some almanacs: https://celestrak.com/GPS/almanac/SEM/2019 and for the mentioned timestamp this is a calculator to bring it in readable format: https://www.labsat.co.uk/index.php/en/gps-time-calculator
And for the details please get you some coffee and read this: https://www.gps.gov/technical/icwg/IS-GPS-200H.pdfHave fun !
BTW: this still does not tell, at which time Suunto is downloading it either direct or via their server and from where …

Hi, as I said AGPS is working fine for me as well. But I don’t know if it is somehow related, but since this problem with AGPS my Spartan Sport has one problem. 3 or 4 times per day they “freeze” - I can use buttons and even touchscreen, but datas are missing - I don’t see battery level, steps, calories, weekly training time … Only solution is to reset them, manually or after few minutes it performs reset automatically.
And it seems its battery draining as well. I lost 30% after two days without using gps. That’s about two times faster as it was before.I already reinstalled Suunto app to eliminate possible sync problems. Few times I noticed “frozen” watch after notification on mobile which didn’t arrived on watch (but not always there was this case), so maybe some problem there.
But I want to ask, is there some option to reinstall FW in watch? If reinstalling Suunto app doesn’t works, I would try that.

SSWHRB
Date shows 2019-07-21
Suunto app 4.2.4.
Android.Update: My watch is now correct, but only after updating the watch firmware through Suuntolink.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos @cosmecosta
Hi, sure. I was only trying to validate the hypothesis that there is something missing / not fixed, it was not a case for necessity.
In any case, today it still shows 2019-08-01 despite it should be 2019-08-04, so I think maybe there’s another issue here besides the other one.
What do you think? / Is there any other info that I can contribute with to get this solved? Or can you or someone recommend a few other topics which I should check to see if those are better related to my issue?
-
Now it’s ok for me.

Hey guys,
My watch says 2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
Today is the 1st of October. I am syncing the watch almost daily with the Suunto app. Not with Mc. I also got gps problems. Takes minutes to find the signal. I suspect this is the problem with the agps date? I will now try to do a watch restart. I did. the restart now and it is stuck at N/A. I will now wait some time to see if it changes. -
@Dominik-Steffen sorry to hear that. Mine is updated.
SA version? Last beta?
-
Hmm… Mine stopped updating again apparently. The last update was 2019-09-28.
-
@silentvoyager
Try a soft reset.
Mine is ok, but I had to reset to clean some zombie notifications. -
3 days old is ok

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos that’s ok for finding the satellites visible to retrieve the Ephemerides data, which is needed for position calculation. I believe this is a very good source for understanding why it takes some time to get a good GPS fix:
