@Thorlap71 said: @Danny-poleg Before trying to get my watch replaced because of reboots, do you think I should try to revert my watch back to 2.48.16 firmware which is the only previous version available in my “Select OTA pkg”. Is this a reasonable thing to do? Hello. I downgraded and no more reboot. It usually rebooted3-4 times a days, at rest as well as during activity. Regard

@Egika said: @Thorlap71 have you followed the recommendation of resetting your watch? It should definitely not reboot randomly. If this happens during exercise, maybe some S+ might be causing it. I have no idea if the next FW update will change something for you. Regarding mobile notifications: You can now select in the watch to be notified in watch mode and during exercise independently. Maybe re-check your settings for both cases. It works for me. Hello, For me it was reboot 3-4 times a day since the new firmware. During exercise as well as during “normal” watch usage. Right after the last reboot (during activity), I sent the log with the app. I tried soft reset, with no luck. I downgraded and no more reboot. Regards

@johann.fuehrer Thank you. I would assume Race 2 and Vertical 2 should act identically. Not sure though.

@Egika said: I ever wondered why anyone would like to know their step count. It must have been some good marketing from whoever came up with this… I looked into the history of “step count” and asking some people I know who use that metric, and I think a few things came together to make it popular. First was the “10000 steps” idea made by a Japanese marketing firm years ago which I think people liked as being an easy number to remember, and it was promoted as a universal thing (compare with tracking active calories, where people of different weights like need different targets). https://www.nuhs.edu/debunking-the-10000-step-myth-figuring-out-what-actually-matters/ It also resonates with some people as some of their “natural activity counts” towards it, so walking around the house, etc. gets one somewhat toward the goal then they just need to “finish their steps.” I still see it ideally as more of a “training wheels” metric and think at least tracking active calories is better (so other activities like cycling and yoga “count better” despite not having many steps, as opposed to Polar’s system that assigns “step equivalents” to encourage non-walking activity). And Suunto puts steps and calories on the same Daily Health page so I can see someone new to fitness and Suunto thinking “need steps” eventually learning to use calories instead.

@2b2bff I was wondering the same thing. Either two sensors, or mediocre altitude measurement compared to other watches.

@johann.fuehrer that’s what I said: Suunto App has to be running that way to be paged by the watch. Same with Garmin Connect BTW…

@André-Faria It is hard to claim warranty for this. The watch restarts randomly. My seller says: the fault did not appear.

@Montrod said: Hey, long time Suunto user from the Suunto X6, Ambit 3, Peak Pro, Vertical… My running has changed a lot, moving towards shorter distances like the 400 to 5km. But winters I spend a lot of time in the mountains ski touring / free touring. So… I was thinking of getting an AMOLED watch as the 5k is fast, even faster over shorter distances, and I just glance at the face for pace during races and fast training sessions. The Race 2 seems more logical for my use case but if the distance issue is true it would annoy me. I do not wear a sports watch day to day in the office. So… is the Race 2 distance issue a consistent problem?

@bbx100 Thanks for sharing your insight, much appreciated. My race2 is only 10 months old, so I have another 14 to go before it is out of warranty. So far, everything is still working again as expected after doing about 10 ‘moves’ and daily use. Let’s see how it goes with the next firmware update and onwards. If this happens again, I’ll definitly report to Suunto support.
