@Brad_Olwin I don’t think its about whether we agree or not, but where the general market is. And I guess the only way one can establish traction on whether a data-heavy, questionable accuracy (Garmin) vs a data-lite (Suunto) approach works is through the bottom-line. Curious how it evolves - interesting times indeed!

@Mff73 This has been mentioned by the testers as well. I imagine it is not high on the priority list.

The watch will autocalibrate in all screens that use gps. For for example if you enter the activity pre start screen it will start a trigger asking for gps based altitude calibration.

@renton82 You can even select Power as a graph, it works well.

@renton82 It’s also very important that during the “first” run when the watch doesn’t have any past VO2 max data to use as a base that GPS is never lost. So no tunnels, waiting enough before the start that GPS is solidly locked (if you start immediately after it’s found, it coudl be lost for a few seconds afterwards, and that might compromise VO2 max when there’s no data behind), etc.

@inkognito thanks for the replies. Yes, Ray’s review of the S9P and snap-to-route (s2r) is a big reason why I finally decided to upgrade from my old A3P. That review placed the seed in my head and I finally pulled the trigger last month. I’ll be sure to add this to the surveys. I imagine something along these lines is already in the works. Definitely feels inefficient UX to expect users to manually create loops. Perhaps a better implementation is by having route types (out and back, vs closed loop, vs end to end, etc), to prevent the race distance issues. And s2r can adjust behavior based on route type. But again, I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes. Anyways, I trust there’ll be a solution in the future and will make note of this on surveys. Thanks for the information.

@deserthike20 I don’t think so at the moment. Since Suunto+ features actually can be loaded independently from the watch firmware, it could actually make sense to be able to use S+ features when in watch mode. Let’s see where this whole S+ thing will lead. I am sure Suunto has some cool ideas about it

@Egika said in Open water swimming with a belt: @Bulkan to me it looks like the recording of the smart sensor went pretty well. The HR graph is there and looking reasonable. Just the rest (zones, etc) completely absent… Looks like bug to me. Can this be repeated? I’m thinking more of bad syncing rather than a bug,I will swim in open waters this weekend and see if this happens.

@freeheeler indeed. You have to change the pins or be mindful of where you wear it. I would def not wear it swimming, disregarding the pins even, hook and loop is not purposed for this. I noticed it conflicts with gloves a bit. But for day to day it’s fine and you just have to be careful with backpacks - the only case I found where pins aren’t great.
