@halajos Well, for one that measures his/her HR with just a wrist watch, it is the best available values you have. And you can make it pretty accurate by assuming the max HR as a median of at least 10 seconds. This would be an option and it would be of great value for those that use just a watch or a band to measure HR…

@MdzOtt @Danny-poleg if I’m not mistaken blue stacks makes installation and use of android apps possible. but it is not possible to connect to anything than a phone, maybe a tablet with phone-like BT chips. it was not possible for me to connect to my chromebook and I didn’t try with my macbook air. I recall others tried without success. however, there are still phones on the market that support the installation of SA that are cheaper than the cheapest available laptop. if the support for multiple users is required, this is already possible with a single phone on one SA installation. logout and sign in with a different account.

@Danny-poleg since I won a podium by overtaking a guy who try to log T2 exactly (he struggled with his garmin), I would never ever log it again (-;. Only swim (watch) - bike (bike computer) - run (watch)!

@fluca UP! It would be much safer go for a run with a live tracking. The technology is already present both in the devices and in the app, it is just a matter of implementing it. Do any of the Suunto developers read our requests?

Let’s go for a refresh. I desesperatly would love this feature . Today I use locus Map, in which I save all my activities in addition to SA, to be able to find again an old activity I did, passing at a certain place. At the price of quite huge data base, locus enable to display lots of tracks and click on them to select. It is not possible in SA (path are not click able, just start points) , but with kind of map date filtering, it could become feasible to focus on very limited dots to click).

Since the app knows the POIs, it seems like it should be relatively easy to export them to a set of GPX waypoints from the app – easier than exporting a route. The biggest caveat is that you’ll just have to assign each waypoint type a consistent number, and have a key somewhere. My recollection from years ago was that the waypoint types in Garmin and Magellan were totally different, and there was no standardized meaning. For example, my garmin didn’t have “kelp forest” symbol that is offered by suunto. Thus on import, the app-chosen symbol could be very interesting, if the waypoints originate from a garmin or google earth. But as long as the error-checking is good, they can either become all the default symbol, or all the symbols corresponding to the suunto data set, based on a yes-no question. Perhaps the POIs are stored with the map tiles for speed in rendering; but there has to be some master key, or they would be very hard to edit. <wpt lat=“36.24020560” lon=“-115.53070381”> <name>Harris_Springs</name> <sym>Navaid, Green</sym> //don’t know what would happen here <type>Navaid, Green</type> //or here //note when topografix programs export a waypoint to a kml file, // they do this: <IconStyle> <scale>0.0</scale> <Icon> <href>https://www.topografix.com/symbols/blank.png</href> </Icon> </IconStyle>
  • Another suggestion: POIs from a gpx file.

@twekkel I’ve heard people have trouble with HR while biking but my experience is pretty good. And I ride a bit of everything. As of connection issues, I don’t think that would be a problem, I don’t see the reason. Battery and hot sun could be a problem sometimes, but that depends on weather and duration of the activity. I’m still waiting for full sunny day this spring So yeah, dedicated bike computer is most certainly a better option, but I still think I would use this mobile/suunto watch combo. I guess that would be good enough for most average users. Apple as it seems thinks this too, so it’s probably not entirely nonsense.
