@olymay Agreed - would always lock my buttons at night too. Would be part of my nightly routine.

@chris-van-sickle could be an issue with the last wear os update, as it seems as though more than just the Suunto is having this issue.

@brad_olwin Hi, I think so. I bought the watch last april and updated it. I have sleep tracking, body power and everything. And I’d had 6 tiles on my watch before I deleted one. And then, suddenly, I wasn’t able to add it back. Neither from the watch nor from the phone. Restart helped though.

@aeroild - and I think that is one of the biggest issues with Suunto’s marketing around the S7 - not clearly defining what it is, which I understand is difficult, because it is so close to bridging the true fitness watch gap.

I would love to see a tile for the Altimeter and Barometer much like the S9 Baro has, same graphics, same style available for the S7

@jamie-bg said in Suunto 7: I really don’t think you can go wrong these days no matter which fitness platform you use Wow, impressive review, thanks for that! I wrote a long post about my own odyssey through the Smartwatch jungle but I found, that I got lost in all the features and I could not find the ideal watch. For me Suunto has some „sophisticated simplicity“ which makes me feel „home“. It does want I need and I can trust the data (besides Resources atm ). The only other brand I really trust like that and that has the same “magic” for me is Polar and I still have my trusted Vantage M which I use from time to time. My son owns and is a great fan of Apple Watches and I can use one whenever I like. The battery is just too weak for me using it as a sportswatch, but the sensors are really great and HR and other data from it is impressively correct and trustworthy.

@rogge doubt it would be due to magnetic interference, think the issue is more around fused tracking which takes a fix every 10s, which is fine when you are walking, potentially hiking depending on terrain (not sure how well it works if vertical climb is steep). However if you using a bike, I am not sure it works to well, as you can travel quite a distance in 10s so if you are varying speeds etc, i can see it giving issues. Try setting it to best (1s) and see how that does. Also note that what you are seeing isn’t necessarily unusual as GPS while fantastic accuracy is only up to 5m. Watch antenna’s are tiny and often not pointed in ideal directions, and fewer satellite fixes (ability to select and use multiple satellite systems can assist i.e I can use GPS+Gallileo or another system for example) - as coverage depends on hemisphere and region, and terrain features, cloud cover etc can all make that worse. While your blip (riding through the house) isn’t great is isn’t really that bad either. Your general track is correct, and would focus much more on that rather than precision accuracy which you are unlikely to get without using a device with a much better antenna.

@grillo54 had that happen - sometimes it just doesn’t fix the start altitude. You will probably find that actual ascent and descent is correct (which sounds like it was based on your original post). You would need to speak to suunto as to why it does that, as I don’t know. Tried numerous combinations, couldn’t get anything to actively trigger the issue and or to fix the issue when it occurred - sometimes it corrected itself sometimes it didn’t. Checking alt before starting, I could sometimes catch and fix it by stopping activity, discarding it, starting up activity again and waiting for fix and a bit longer - sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. As I said starting the activity while still connected to a phone did seem to reduce the occurance when this was happening. Personally I think it may be due to how its pulling the GPS data, and then aligning it to DEM maps? But don’t know enough about the inner workings. Altitude issues aren’t unusual - loads of posts about this on all different watches etc. For example I found my F6 was doubling ascent & descent, so changed some settings - and hey presto all sorted and now matches based on other watches and based on topo & DEM maps.

I have the opposite impression: I never used a screen protector on my watches or mobiles. When I bought the S7 I was afraid of that and now that I have had it for about 10 months and I have had multiple falls while riding my MTB, also fall on inline skate, or hit an obstacle and nothing. But I know it is a matter of luck and how it impacts, because sometimes a small impact breaks the screen completely. Always I think that some scratches are a sign of good use and good adventures, It is like a cookbook without food stains…

Hmm, not a massive fan of the new Play Store to be honest! Its basically the same as it was, except with some extra mess in the form of distracting tablet buttons that could be a lot more transparent than they are. Oh, and a wonky curved clock, in case I forgot what time it is from looking at the watch face 5 seconds before opening the Play Store. I wonder if there should be a WearOS setting to configure ‘hint’ colour (like on the old Windows Phones) across the whole OS. It all feels a bit jarring going from the subtle yellow tinted Suunto Marine watch face, to suddenly getting these bright white buttons. Across other Google Apps, they seem to have their own tint too…most apps are Blue (Timer, Alarm, Messages etc), Keep Note is Orange…wouldnt it be nice to set a Theme for the Watch?

Pay attention: Some cheap earbuds that have ie a small antenna on one side might have dropouts if you wear the watch on the other arm , as your body creates a shadow for BT to work. Aeropex have a circular antenna going all the way round the head

@mff73 both activities have HR data, as well as GPS track, duration, pace, etc. However, the first activity (the one that crashed) does not have TSS, calories, or steps recorded. I’ve also noticed another quirk with joining the activities together… in the merged file, the second part of the run has been added as manual laps, not auto laps. This is fine in Suunto App (although looks odd) as it still has the correct total distance. When I add it to Strava however, it shows the correct duration, correct GPS track, but it ignores the distance of the second activity.

@nigel-taylor-0 A work around but it requires a subscription. TrainingPeaks will merge the S7 and Stryd data imported from SA and Powercenter. You can then import the merged file into Powercenter

@flypg Today again my S7 displays: “Today - No sleep tracked” But this time, after few hours when I connected to the mobile and sync, the sleep information appeared. It’s strange, because each some days/weeks this behavior happen… The previous ones without recording any information.

Hello! I noted that if I follow my procedure, some field are lose, like: Total Training Effect TSS(hr) Recovery Time among others Exist any other way to not lose this or to the watch/app calculate these values again based on the new “cutted” activity? As you can see I continue forgetting to stop my activity after training… Thanks!

Maybe Google were simply testing the reception of Wear 3.0 interface changes.
